Chapter 84: Chapter 84
"IT FEELS weird to hold a different Guide’s hand now when I’ve only been with Ahn Kisoo for the past five years."
Wonhee just smiled at what Graham said.
Right now, she was sitting on the chair next to the bed that the S-Class Hunter was using. Of course, she was holding his hand.
[And, yes, Graham-ssi signed both the Guestbook and the contract.] Content originally comes from novel-fire.ɴet
Apparently, the that Hunters who would sign the contract would get was too tempting to resist.
Hence, Graham also agreed to lend Wonhee his abilities.
"But don’t get me wrong, Chu Wonhee. You’re not doing anything wrong," Graham said cheerfully even though he already sounded sleepy. "In fact, I already feel the effect of your Guiding. I guess I just feel weird because no other Guide could help me before aside from Ahn Kisoo."
"Don’t worry, Graham-ssi," Wonhee assured him. "I only have to hold your hand for an hour. After that, you’ll be fine as long as you stay here in the for..." She paused, and then she checked her Status Window to be sure. "For ten hours, according to the System. Once you fall asleep, I’ll contact your guild to inform them that you’re fine now."
Graham sleeping rubbed his eyes with the back of his other hand. He already looked so sleepy, and yet he didn’t stop talking. "Are you not allowed to leave the until the time is up? I’ll feel bad if you have to stay here with me for ten hours."
"The System changed the rule when it realized that there are times I might be needed outside while the is in use."
And the change started when she had to leave Yejun in the when Graham went on a rampage.
"So, now, I only need to stay in the for at least an hour as long as I’m physical contact with the Hunter within that time."
"Ah, so we’re going to hold hands for an hour?"
"I know it must be uncomfortable for you, but please bear with it."
Graham chuckled while shaking his head. "No, Chu Wonhee. I’m not uncomfortable. I only asked because I’m worried about you. Being a Guide isn’t easy because you’re forced to touch strangers."
"Oh, don’t worry about it, Graham-ssi," Wonhee assured him. "I’m an actress who has done so many romcom series and films in the past. I’ve even kissed and hugged male actors whom I dislike in real life. Holding a Hunter’s hand to keep them sane is something I can handle."
That was the reason why she quickly got used to being "touchy-feely" with Yejun.
"I see. Chu Wonhee is professional..." Graham said sleepily, his eyes already closed. "I’m glad..."
And then he continued uttering incoherently before he fell asleep.
She let out a sigh of relief.
[I’ve only guided Yejun all this time, so I’m a bit worried to be already working with someone else.]
"You’re doing a great job, Chu Wonhee."
It was Tannie, and the tangerine fairy appeared on her lap.
"Thank you, Tannie," Wonhee said, smiling. "Do you have any news about Yejun and Song Moonho?"
"I do, because I’m Tannie and I’m great!" Tannie declared proudly. "APA is on their way to arrest Hwang Yejun and Song Moonho for illegally entering a Crack that neither belongs to the Winter Guild nor the Autumn Guild!"
SONG MOONHO, the Necromancer.
Also, the so-called "black sheep" of the Big 4.
To be fair, all members of the Big 4 had their fair share of petty crimes.
Hwang Yejun, the youngest and the strongest among the Big 4, was known for raiding high-grade Cracks illegally all on his own. The Ice Demon was also suspected of hiding artifacts and rare treasures from the government to avoid paying more taxes.
Jang Semi, the God Alchemist, was suspected of secretly selling potions to the Black Market. Not for profits, but for connections. The only reason APA turned a blind eye to her crime was because the potions she would sell to unregistered organizations were basic potions only.
Han Graham, the Flame Master, was notorious for snatching talented individuals from APA or other private guilds. It wasn’t technically illegal. But because it happened so many times in the past and caused guilds to fight, APA implemented a law that banned a Hunter or Guide from transferring to other guilds for the first two years of their signed contract.
Compared to the crimes committed by Hwang Yejun, Jang Semi, and Han Graham, the crimes committed by Song Moonho were pretty heinous.
The Necromancer was even suspected of killing Civilians.
But the Big 4 was above the law.
Hence, in the past, even APA had no choice but to look the other way.
APA decided that it was time to reclaim the authority that they lost to the Big 4.
Seodam, currently one of the best Hunters nurtured by APA, was determined to uphold the government’s will.
Hence, he went to the A-Grade Crack that burst open in the Summer Guild’s territory.
Seodam also brought his entire team with him for today’s mission: Park Ruda (A-Class Guide), Nana (B-Class Hunter/Combat-Alchemist/female, 28 years old), Kim Hosun (A-Class Hunter/male, 24 years old), Keun (A-Class Hunter/male, 22 years old), and Gohyun (A-Class Hunter/male 30 years old).
As soon as they arrived, he immediately realized the problem.
[It must be a water-type dungeon.]
Seodam looked up at the giant sphere suspended in the air.
The sphere had a long crack in the middle, and everyone could see the whirlpool from the gap. And Cracks that showed whirlpools were usually water-type.
[It would have been a bad match for Hunter Graham.]
"Hunter Lee Seodam, you’re here."
Seodam nodded politely. "Captain Lee."
Captain Lee Jiho was the leader of the Special Forces (Cracks Division) in charge of protecting, saving, and rescuing people from damages caused by Cracks bursting open.
The team that Captain Lee Jiho led was trained to fight monsters, and the members were all equipped with weapons that worked on those monsters. Hence, their team was also in charge of securing the area where the Crack appeared.
The Civilians were being evacuated while the other members of the team surrounded the Crack– in a safe distance, of course– to make sure that no unauthorized person could enter it.
Seodam’s gaze went past Captain Lee Jiho. "Aren’t they members of the Autumn Guild?"
And they weren’t just any regular members.
Meguro Shun (Song Moonho’s A-Class Guide), Zaizai (A-Class Hunter/Autumn Guild’s main and only female ’tank’), Dawn (the high schooler A-Class Hunter who was rumored to be Song Moonho’s protégé).
Those three were a part of the Autumn Guild’s elite team.
"Yah, Lee Jiho," Zaizai, who was actually from China, called Lee Jiho in her perfect Korean. "What’s with the difference in greeting? You glared at us but you’re welcoming those kids quite warmly."
[Miss Zaizai sounds like a native speaker now.]
"I’m only polite to law-abiding citizens," Captain Lee Jiho said, scoffing at Zaizai. "If you want my warm greeting, then please make sure to respect the law."
"But doesn’t the law dictate that criminals have human rights, too?" Zaizai said, laughing. "A government dog like you should stay neutral, Captain Lee– even if it’s just for show~"
Captain Lee Jiho could only clench his jaw tight.
"Why is the Autumn Guild here?" Seodam asked to save Captain Lee Jiho from further interacting with Zaizai. "We were informed that Hunter Graham was undergoing Guiding at the moment. The law dictates that if a member of the Big 4 isn’t available, APA shall take over the dungeon."
"Why are you talking to us?" Zaizai asked, tilting her head to one side as if she was confused. "Who are you? I don’t wanna talk to nobodies~"
Seodam clenched his hands, but he didn’t react.
[They are the elite team of the Autumn Guild. It’s just normal that they don’t know me. And it’s not something I should be embarrassed about. The only people who should know me are the Civilians I pledged to protect.]
However, that didn’t mean his team wouldn’t be offended in his place.
"You’re lying," Kim Hosun said bluntly. "You know who our captain is. You’re just pretending not to know him because you don’t want to acknowledge the only Hunter who could replace Hwang Frost-nim."
Seodam was glad that his teammates thought highly of him.
He was actually intimidated after meeting Hwang Frost to the point that he almost collapsed.
But that only inspired him to work harder.
"Who are you?" Zaizai asked Kim Hosun, obviously ignoring what Kim Hosun said. "The only person who’s worthy to talk to us being quiet, though."
Zaizai, Meguro Shun, and even the reserved Dawn all looked at one person.
Ruda smiled and shrugged. "I don’t talk to people who break the law?"
Seodam thought Park Ruda had a good comeback.
But then, Meguro Shun suddenly opened his mouth.
"You don’t talk to people who break the law?" Meguro Shun asked cheerfully. "Then Kwon Jiwoong and half of the government officials must be sad that you don’t talk to them, Park Ruda sunbae-nim~"
That statement was something Seodam couldn’t let slide. "If you don’t leave, then we will be forced to use violence on you–"
"Violence is bad, though?"
Seodam and the others all looked up.
Song Moonho was coming out of the crack, looking all neat in his tailored suit.
And the person behind him...
An inactive Hunter entered the Crack?!
Seodam’s face darkened. He was scared, but his anger at the Hunter who broke the law was bigger. Hence, his fear resistance seemed to have increased. "Hwang Frost-ssi, with the power given to me by APA, I shall arrest you for–"
Hwang Frost let out a long sigh.
And that long sigh suddenly turned into a fog– and that fog was cold enough to give everyone the chills.
[His power didn’t go anywhere...]
And then Hwang Frost’s red eyes glowered while looking at Seodam. "Ah, you’re the guy whose sex life was broadcasted on national TV."
Seodam was getting tired of hearing that phrase from Hwang Frost.
[Is that my name now?]
