Chapter 168: Chapter 168
Before she knew it, she was already making out with Yejun— her back on the mattress, the man on top of her.
Thanks to his fervent kisses, she completely forgot about Lee Seodam’s call.
But she didn’t feel that bad about it.
[I know Hunter Lee Seodam is now my responsibility. But if something important happened that I need to know, surely, either the System or Soobin Oppa will contact me. And if Seodam-ssi really needed to talk to me, he would have sent a message. Right— aw.]
Wonhee opened her eyes after Yejun gently bit her bottom lip. "Ouch."
"You’re distracted, Chu Wonhee," Yejun complained lightly, breathing heavily after breaking their kiss. "Please focus on me."
She cupped Yejun’s handsome face between her hands. "Yejun-ah, your hands."
His hand was under her shirt, caressing her flat tummy.
And his other hand...
"Stop squeezing my breast, Hwang Yejun."
"Yes, ma’am," Yejun said, immediately removing both of his hands from Wonhee’s body. "Can I get one more kiss?"
"No— your eyes are already glowing gold."
That meant her Guiding was complete.
Yejun clicked his tongue, but he quietly and carefully got up as if he was afraid to crush her with his weight. And then he helped her get up. "Do you have any schedule left for today, Wonhee-ya?"
"I’m done with everything for today. How about you?"
"Ah, I have to meet my family later. They’re busy taking care of the assets that APA returned to me in my place, but they still need me to sign a few official documents. APA doesn’t accept electronic signatures— they want me to do it in person."
"Can I come with you? I want to see your parents again."
"Sure. The triplets are sent to an away mission anyway."
"Are you seriously jealous of the triplets when they just want to be friends with me?"
"It’s not that I’m threatened or anything like that," Yejun denied vehemently. "It’s just that I can’t get enough of you even though we’re always together. So, I don’t want to share you with anyone else yet when twenty-four hours with you isn’t already enough for me."
"’Ye?’ Will you ever get enough of me?"
"That’s the thing— I don’t think I will ever get enough of you, Wonhee-ya."
Yejun laughed as if he was amused. "This is unfair, Wonhee-ya. You know from the start that you have me wrapped around your dainty finger. And yet, you wouldn’t admit you’re catching feelings for me already."
"Liking someone and wanting a serious relationship with them are two different things for me, Yejun-ah," Wonhee said in a serious tone. "I don’t want a casual relationship with you."
"So don’t rush me, okay? I tend to think things through. That’s how I show my sincerity."
"Does it mean that when you decide to date me, then you’re thinking of dating me with marriage in mind?"
"Why? Does it scare you?"
Yejun grinned, his eyes turning into little crescent moons. "Do I look scared to get into a serious relationship with you, Wonhee-ya?"
"I’m worried about making you wait, though."
It wouldn’t be easy for Wonhee to get into a new relationship when she had just gotten out of a three-year relationship a few weeks ago.
She no longer had romantic feelings for Lee Seodam.
[Even so, I can’t see myself in a relationship again. Not yet, at least.]
"Don’t worry about me, Wonhee-ya. I don’t mind waiting," Yejun said, giving her one of his rare gentle smiles. "While I wait for you, I’ll make you see and feel that I’m the man you want to spend your life with."
"Oh. This talk is getting serious."
"This topic has always been serious to me, Wonhee-ya— I have no intention of only having a ’casual’ relationship with you either."
For some reason, Wonhee felt a warm feeling in her chest.
[So, Yejun has been serious all this time even though he teases me often.]
"I guess I goofed around too much," Yejun said, tilting his head to one side. "I’ll show you my sincerity, so prepare your heart, Wonhee-ya."
"Why do I need to prepare my heart?" Wonhee complained lightly. "Don’t tell me you’re gonna flirt with me harder than you already do?!"
"IF YOU don’t find Song Sunho within the day, there will be consequences," Song Moonho said in a low voice while talking on the phone. "You shouldn’t have let that scroundel escape in the first place."
He then ended the call before the person on the other line could respond.
[Sunho, I’m doing my best to keep you alive. Why do you keep on doing stupid shit that will get you killed?]
It was hard enough to stop Graham from killing Sunho.
But now that Gong Yool got hurt because of his stupid brother...
[If Chu Wonhee remains upset because of what happened to her Gong Yool, I’m sure Hwang Yejun will kill my younger brother to appease her. But, to be fair, that would just be an excuse. Hwang Yejun has tried to kill Sunho many times in the past because of my brother’s, uh, misbehavior towards Ahn Kisoo and other Guides.]
"Song Moonho, your brother has truly crossed the line this time."
"Harassing Ahn Kisoo and whoever Guide he fancies is already an unforgivable crime. The only reason Song Sunho remains free is that you and Kwon Jiwoong are protecting him— using the excuse that he’s a high-ranking Hunter that our country can’t afford to lose," Yeon Suk-yong, the former South Korean President and now the Guildmaster of his own guild, said sternly. "But now Song Sunho has become a traitor after joining a rebel group. I saw it with my own eyes, Song Moonho— your younger brother is with the Anti-System Faction. Do you think APA will still help you protect Song Sunho after this?"
"Nothing has been proven yet, so you can’t call my younger brother a ’traitor,’ Suk-yong-nim," Song Moonho said politely. "I’ll find Song Sunho and hear his explanation first."
WONHEE ran away from Yejun.
Well, she just went to the annex building where the mini-hospital was. ɪꜰ ʏᴏᴜ ᴡᴀɴᴛ ᴛᴏ ʀᴇᴀᴅ ᴍᴏʀᴇ ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀs, ᴘʟᴇᴀsᴇ ᴠɪsɪᴛ novel✶fire.net
Yejun, who laughed after seeing her red face, said that he wouldn’t follow her because he didn’t want her to faint from embarrassment.
[That brat is being cheeky again.]
Anyway, she arrived safely at Yool’s room.
To her surprise, she saw Ahyeon standing outside the door.
"Why are you here, Ahyeonnie?" Wonhee asked worriedly. "You can guard Yool inside. Did someone make you come out?"
Ahyeon nodded, his face red as if he was embarrassed. "Hunter Song Moonho-nim is inside, Noona. He asked to give him some privacy with Yool for a moment."
"Not yet, Noona. But I’m worried..."
Wonhee could understand why Ahyeon was worried.
[Song Moonho-ssi is Song Sunho’s protective older brother, after all.]
"Don’t worry, Ahyeonnie," Wonhee assured him while gently patting his arm. "Yejun is here. If Song Moonho-ssi starts trouble, we’ll call Yejun."
Ahyeon nodded, but she still looked sad.
"What’s wrong, Ahyeonnie? You look glum."
"What happened to Yool Hyung was my fault," Ahyeon said, his head hanging low. "I should have checked the surroundings first before I deactivated my barrier. If I was more careful, then Hyung wouldn’t have been attacked."
"It wasn’t your fault, Ahyeonnie— all of us were blindsided by that surprise attack."
[Of course, it won’t be easy to alleviate his guilt with just a few words of consolation.]
She knew because she was living with survivor’s guilt all this time.
"Ahyeonnie, you’ve just leveled up as an S-Class Hunter. Just think of this experience as a lesson you had to take the hard way," Wonhee said, and then she paused for a moment. "And if you want to get stronger so nothing happens again, would you like me to ask Yejun to teach you how to use your abilities properly? After all, I heard you’re only second to Yejun when it comes to creating sturdy barriers."
"Oh," Ahyeon said, lifting his now beaming face. "I’d like to ask Hwang Frost-nim myself, Noona."
YOOL thought he was going to die.
He was already awake, but his eyes were too tired to open.
So, here he was now: trying to remember what happened.
The moment Ahyeon’s barrier collapsed, someone appeared at his side. Then that bastard punched the car window next to Yool.
[I’m pretty sure that was Song Sunho.]
That bastard grabbed Yool’s neck and tried to slit his throat.
He could still feel the burning sensation the wound gave him.
[I think I was poisoned.]
After all, using his blood as poison was one of Song Sunho’s known abilities.
Song Sunho’s poisonous blood worked not only on monsters— it also worked on both Civilians and Awakened People.
That was why that bastard was useful as a Hunter.
[His other abilities were hidden from the public, and I don’t remember them being discussed in the novel either.]
[Did Song Sunho try to kill me as revenge?]
"Once I get my hand on that bastard, I’ll slit his throat, too..."
"Can I apologize on behalf of my stupid younger brother first?"
Yool immediately opened his eyes.
The first thing he saw was the most handsome man he had seen in his life— in both worlds, at that.
[Brain, please stop praising this man’s good looks every opportunity we get.]
Song Moonho stood beside the bed while looking down at Yool with a crestfallen look on his face.
"I’d like to apologize to you as well, Yool-ssi."
[I can’t believe I already know Song Moonho well enough to guess what he’s thinking at the moment.]
"Ahjussi, are you apologizing in advance because you’ll choose your brother over me?"
Song Moonho looked confused as hell. "What?"
"Don’t do it," Yool said sternly. If they lost Song Moonho as an ally right now, Wonhee would be in grave danger. "Ahjussi, if you choose me over Song Sunho, then I’ll tell you my secret— the secret that you’ve been dying to know."
[The things I do for my best friend.]
