Chapter 164: Chapter 164

[A little earlier...]

YEJUN looked down at the intruders while assessing them.

[He’s known as a water bende— I mean, water manipulator. In short, he’s an elemental user like me and Graham.]

[The ’beast.’ He can transform his body parts into the body parts of monsters that he has killed before. Not gonna lie— it’s a pretty cool skill.]

[She’s famous for being a healer-combatant. She can boost her companion’s skills to 200%, and in return, she can borrow one of their attack skills. That’s exactly why her guild is one of the strongest guilds in Europe.]

Yejun smiled, satisfied. "I’m glad UAN didn’t send weaklings. I would have been insulted had they sent World Rankers lower than the Top 50."

To be fair, the gap between the Top 20 and the rest was vast.

That was why he was relieved that these World Rankers were only in the Top 40s.

[If UAN had sent World Rankers within the Top 20, I would have needed my fellow Big 4’s help.]

Yejun wasn’t that arrogant to claim that he could take down anyone from the Top 20 when he wasn’t in his prime anymore. He hasn’t recovered most of his skills’ original level yet. His pride as ’Hwang Frost’ wasn’t important to him now.

[I need to stay alive for Wonhee.]

He could always work hard to level up again, but he only had one life to live. This update is available on novelFire.net

Patrick Whitter scoffed, interrupting Yejun’s trains of thought. "You talk as if we were sent here to fight, Yejun."

Since the annoying dude was a foreigner, Yejun would let it slide even though he called his name without honorifics.

"We were sent here by UAN to negotiate with APA," Patrick Whitter said. Ah, it seemed like he was the chosen spokesperson of the group. "We were supposed to meet up with President Kwon. What are you doing here?"

"I’m here as APA’s representative, obviously."

"I’m Hwang Frost from the Big 4," Yejun said, even giving a mock salute. "Reporting for duty."

Of course, the three World Rankers looked shocked by what he said.

[It was only last night when I was reinstated to my former position, so they couldn’t have possibly heard of the news already.]

"Have you recovered?" Aaron Davis asked curiously. "Is it because of Wonhee?"

Yejun looked at the younger World Ranker with cold eyes. "It’s ’Miss Chu’ to you, rascal."

Aaron Davis flinched. "M-Miss Chu it is, then."

"We’re here on an official duty—"

"Do people on official duties enter a country secretly?" Yejun asked, cutting off Patrick Whitter’s lame excuse. "You have already entered Korea before you reached out to APA. And, even by then, you didn’t request a formal meeting. You just threatened President Kwon."

Yes, he called Kwon Jiwoong formally.

[I’m being filmed, after all. It’s okay to curse at intruders. But I won’t be able to recover my public image if I trash-talk Kwon Jiwoong now.]

"We did no such thing—"

"Do you want me to play the audio recording of your conversation with President Kwon?"

Patrich Whitter looked surprised by the revelation. "There’s a recording?"

"President Kwon did that because the entire thing sounded fishy," Yejun said half-heartedly. He wasn’t that keen to defend Kwon Jiwoong, but he had to act the part. Fortunately, he was known for his lazy or bored expressions during confrontations. Hence, most people wouldn’t notice his real feelings. "It was clear that you came here to threaten South Korea. Hence, we will react accordingly."

Aaron Davis’ gaze went past Yejun, and his eyes fell on the bridge behind him. "The other Big 4 members are here. Are they going to fight, too?"

"Nah," Yejun said, pointing at himself. "APA only needs me to deal with you all."

The three looked shocked at first.

And then they suddenly looked offended.

"You’re overestimating yourself, Hwang Frost," Jenna Allison said, addressing Yejun by his Hunter this time. "You’re just an X-Class now."

Yejun smirked, his eyes turning into little crescent moons. It was the smile that Wonhee referred to as his "villain smile." "Wouldn’t it be so embarrassing for you if you died by the hands of a mere X-Class?"

The three World Rankers flinched.

It was because Yejun’s bloodlust had finally leaked.

[I’m not used to talking a lot before a fight, but I need these three to attack me first so South Korea could argue later that we only defended our small country.]

"It looks like you came here to fight, Hwang Frost," Patrich Whitter said, obviously trying to turn the tables. It looked dude figured out that Yejun was provoking them so that they would attack first. "Alright, we get it. We will formally apologize to APA for entering South Korea in secret. But we didn’t threaten you."

"It must have been a miscommunication due to the language barrier."

[Kwon Jiwoong is dumb when it comes to mental fights, but he’s textbook smart. He’s fluent in English and French.]

"We tend to speak bluntly in fear of being misunderstood," Patrick Whitter said, still sticking to his lame excuses. "But we will apologize for our rudeness. Hence, let’s stop this now. We want to schedule a meeting with President Jiwoong Kwon and Miss Wonhee Chu."

"Respectfully, we refuse," Yejun said bluntly. He said ’respectfully,’ so he wasn’t being rude. Right? "APA sent me here to politely tell you to leave our small country. If you want to meet President Kwon, then please do it officially by sending a request letter first. No request letter, no entry."

"Are you telling us to leave when we’re already here?"

"Do I have to spell it out for you?"

Patrick Whitter looked pissed this time. "You’re hiding Miss Wonhee Chu from us."

Yejun just shrugged. "We’re just protecting our Awakened People from intruders."

He tried not to emphasize how important Chu Wonhee was not only to South Korea— but also to the entire Awakened World.

[I’ll protect Wonhee from the whole world, but I need to recover first.]

"Then you leave us with no choice," Patrick Whitter said, sighing as if he was trying to calm himself down. "We’re formally asking you for a fight, Hwang Frost. If we win, you’ll let us meet Miss Wonhee Chu. But if you lose, then South Korea should get on their knees and beg forgiveness from UAN."

Yejun laughed, and then he opened his arms. "You better kill me if you don’t want to die here, people."

The three World Rankers exchanged looks.

[It’s as if they’re planning my death already.]

Finally, the three World Rankers began their attack.

Jenna Allison put her hands on Patrick Whitter and Aaron Davis’ backs— the green-ish glow from her hands quickly spreading on the two men’s entire bodies.

And that gave Yejun the chills.

[Patrick Whitter and Aaron Davis’ skills are doubled!]

Hence, Yejun would admit that he was surprised when Aaron Davis’ hand suddenly turned into a long limb that obviously didn’t belong to a human.

The long limb, covered in scales, moved like a snake.

And then Aaron Davis’ hand turned big— just like the size of a giant’s hand, grabbing Yejun by the torso.

It happened so fast that Yejun couldn’t react sooner.

And before he could break free from Aaron Davis’ gigantic snake-like hand gripping him tightly, Patrick Whitter attacked him.

Like a water bende— manipulator, Aaron Davis moved his hands as if he was leading an orchestra dramatically. Then, just like that, a pretty big tornado emerged from the Han River. Of course, the tornado immediately surged towards Yejun.

He was hit, almost drowning him.

But he hasn’t been washed away because Aaron Davis’ gigantic and scale-y hand was holding him in place.

Hence, as a result, Yejun got trapped inside the water sphere.

He didn’t know when the tornado had changed, but it was obvious that it changed shape and turned into a water sphere to trap him inside. It seemed like the enemies were trying to drown him.

Unfortunately, it wouldn’t work.

As a water and ice manipulator, Yejun gained the skill to breathe underwater.

[It’s time for a counter-attack.]

Yejun used his to make his body half as heavy as the gigantic white tortoise that he had killed recently.

Aaron Davis looked shocked by his sudden weight gain, almost dropping him.

When the gigantic and scale-y hand loosened its grip around Yejun for a moment when Aaron Davis almost dropped him earlier, Yejun used that opportunity to free his arms.

Then Yejun grabbed Aaron Davis with one hand, his other hand shooting an ice whip from his palm. That ice whip went straight to the unprepared Patrick Whitter— wrapping itself around the World Ranker’s torso.

Before Aaron Davis and Patrick Whitter could break free from Yejun’s grasp, he already turned his body as heavy as the gigantic white tortoise.

Hence, as a result, the three of them quickly fell into the Han River.

Yejun laughed heartily, bubbles coming out of his mouth, while watching Aaron Davis and Patrick Whitter struggle underwater.

WONHEE felt her heart almost dropped to the floor while watching the live coverage of Yejun’s fight against the three World Rankers.

[Those World Rankers are in the Top 40s, so they must be strong.]

She got worried when Yejun was attacked simultaneously by the two male World Rankers, and then the three sunk into the Han River.

Her worries soon eased up when she saw the Han River freezing rapidly.

[Hwang Yejun, why are you freezing the Han River?]

Her thoughts were interrupted when the car that Ahyeon was driving suddenly stopped.

If Wonhee wasn’t wearing her seatbelt, and if her Grandpa Suk-yong (sitting in the backseat next to her) hadn’t held her by the shoulder, then she would have been sent flying already. She dropped her phone, though.

"A-Ambush!" Ahyeon said, obviously in a panic. "We’re under a-attack, Wony Noona, Grandpa-nim..."

"Stay here," Grandpa Suk-yong said sternly. "I’ll deal with those scroundels."

Wonhee gulped hard and nodded. "Be careful, Grandpa."
