Chapter 163: Chapter 163
THE FILMING ended earlier than scheduled.
It wasn’t hard since Wonhee just had to play with the dogs in the café, and those dogs weren’t unfamiliar to her.
[The dogs in this café are adopted by the owner from the animal shelter that I own.]
Anyway, after the filming was over, Wonhee and her companions headed to the animal shelter to visit the pets she hadn’t seen in a while.
"Welcome, Miss Chu!" Im Hani welcomed her warmly. "And our esteemed guests."
Those esteemed guests were Yool, Ahyeon, and Grandpa Suk-yong.
Im Hani was already familiar with them because Im Hani was Wonhee’s personal secretary-slash-financial advisor.
Aside from that, Im Hani was also in charge of running Safe Haven.
[That’s the name of the animal shelter.]
Wonhee, Ahyeon, and Yool had a good time feeding and bathing the animals— mostly the dogs.
After that, they helped clean the place.
Grandpa Suk-yong wanted to help, but his phone kept ringing.
[It’s only natural since Grandpa is a very busy person. He shouldn’t be wasting his time guarding his granddaughter since there are many people who need his attention more...]
After a while, her grandfather excused himself while talking on the phone.
[I think I heard Grandpa ask if "it" has started yet.]
Something big was probably going on.
"I’ve been here several times, but I have to say that this animal shelter really looks like a pet hotel," Yool said when they entered the private drawing room reserved for Wonhee. "But then again, the pet hotel you own is better than most hotels for humans. You let the general manager run your hotel for you, but you’re hands-on when it comes to your pet-related businesses."
Wonhee just smiled, but she couldn’t deny that.
Aside from the animal shelter, she also owned a pet hotel called ’Pampet.’
[It’s a wordplay for the English words ’pamper’ + ’pet’, so ’pampet.’]
She decided to build a pet hotel— that targeted rich people with pets— to generate income for the animal shelter. And it was working so far.
[I’m using my own money. But the bigger the income is, the more animals we can adopt.]
To be honest, she could afford to own businesses that didn’t really bring income and still pay her employees generously.
[But Semi Unnie and Soobin Oppa scolded me for "wasting" my money.]
Wonhee’s older siblings would still send her millions of won as her ’monthly allowance.’ Even her Grandpa Suk-yong, Aunt Hera (her adoptive mother’s sister), and Semi’s mother would send her ’pocket money’ every month, or whenever they felt like it.
[I ’earn’ at least a billion won every month just from them...]
She told her family to stop spoiling her, but they wouldn’t listen. Then she realized that the more money she had, the more money she could to those who needed it. So, she just accepted the money that kept coming into her bank account.
[Aside from donating my money to different charities and organizations all over the world, I also send Eunseok his secret monthly allowance that he doesn’t want his parents to know about.]
"Wony-ah, why did you fall silent?"
"I just realized how wealthy I am for me to run several businesses without caring about whether they generate income or not."
Yool looked at Wonhee blankly. "Aren’t you the youngest member of Korea’s THE Trillionaire Club or something? Your net worth is billions in USD."
That was how much Wonhee inherited from her parents.
[The inheritance tax is hefty, though.]
Wonhee sighed and nodded. "I automatically joined the club when I hit the required net worth, but I’m determined to disappear from the list as soon as possible by focusing on more philanthropic activities."
"This is why I love you, Wony-ah."
"I-I love Wony Noona, too!"
Both Wonhee and Yool smiled when Ahyeon came in with three iced coffee and one hot Americano in his hands.
[He stepped out to buy coffee.]
They could have ordered coffee, but ever since Ahyeon gained a new skill as a reward for leveling up, he insisted on personally buying her drinks.
"Here, Noona," Ahyeon said proudly. "I checked your coffee, and it’s safe."
Wonhee smiled and nodded. "Thank you, Ahyeonnie."
[I didn’t ask Ahyeonnie what his new skill is exactly, but I can tell that he can sense poison now. That’s why he always insists on checking on my food. I think he was traumatized after I got drugged before and he wasn’t by my side when it happened.]
"Did you not check mine, Ahyeonnie?"
"O-Of course, I did, Hyung!" Ahyeon said, his face red as if he was flustered. "I checked everyone’s drinks!"
Yool grinned, obviously teasing Ahyeon again.
"Stop bullying our dongsaeng, Yool-ah."
"I-It’s okay, Hyung."
The three of them were having a good time catching up when Grandpa Suk-yong returned to the drawing room.
"I hate to interrupt, but we need to watch the news now, children," Grandpa Suk-yong said in a serious tone. "Oh. Perhaps kids these days prefer watching the news on their phones instead of the television?"
It was probably time for Yejun to appear on the news.
[And that’s probably why Grandpa has been busy since earlier.]
"Yes, Noona," Ahyeon said politely, already holding the remote control in his hand. "I’ll turn on the TV now."
The ’painting’ hanging on the wall wasn’t really a painting.
When Ahyeon used the remote control, the ’painting’ turned into a normal television flat-screen TV.
[It’s an appliance produced by Semi Unnie’s Daesung Group, of course.]
Anyway, a piece of breaking news instantly greeted them.
It showed the footage of a helicopter, covered in ice, quickly crushing into the Han River.
A person clad in black was suspended in the air, watching the helicopter crush with a blank look on his face.
Wonhee almost dropped her iced coffee while watching the news.
[He’s really on the news, but...]
"Hwang Yejun," Wonhee whispered in disbelief. "Why did you make a private jet crush into the Han River...?"
"That helicopter was carrying intruders who secretly entered Korea," Grandpa Suk-yong explained, causing all of them to turn to the grandpa. "To be precise, the intruders are World Rankers— and they’re here for you, Hee-ya."
Wonhee covered her mouth with her hand when she gasped. "M-Me? But why?"
"Because you’re the first S-Class Guide in the world," her grandfather said. "The United Awakened Nations want you the way they wanted the Big 4 from the beginning."
"Then did UAN send those World Rankers to kidnap Wony, Grandpa-nim?" Yool asked politely. "Those bastards..."
"Don’t worry— APA sent the brat there to deal with the intruders."
"APA sent Hwang Yejun to deal with the World Rankers?" Wonhee asked, a bit surprised. "Then is it safe to assume that Yejun is on official duty, Grandpa?"
"That’s right. You can say this is Hwang Frost reporting for duty," Grandpa Suk-yong said. And he sounded proud of Yejun even though his expression said otherwise. "We have to move you somewhere safer, Hee-ya— so let’s get going."
[HWANG Frost regained his .]
That was the first thing Kwon Jiwoong noticed while watching Hwang Frost stomp on the helicopter until it got destroyed.
But it seemed like he was holding back.
[He could have just done it with one kick. Perhaps he wanted to hide how much power he had retrieved, thanks to Chu Wonhee?]
Jiwoong discreetly looked over his shoulder.
He wasn’t the only person on the bridge at the moment while watching the fight above them.
The remaining members of the Big 4 were there, too.
Even Yeon Soobin and Shin Geon were also there.
Aside from those powerful Hunters, the Special Forces (Cracks Division) led by Captain Lee Jiho were there to stop the Civilians from using the bridge.
It was their fault that the Civilians weren’t notified in advance.
They closed the bridge a little too late because Hwang Frost wanted to ambush the World Rankers.
Jiwoong flinched when the Big 4 members suddenly turned to him at the same time.
"Are you seriously letting that lunatic deal with this alone?"
The Big 4 members weren’t looking at Jiwoong.
It was APA’s old dog that caught their (irk and) attention.
[Hunter Kunwoo is back!]
Currently a World Ranker holding the 43rd position.
The first time she heard of South Korea was when the Big 4 members were in their prime.
It was amazing how four people managed to protect their country from invaders.
However, she lost interest in Korea the moment Hwang Frost— apparently the strongest of the four— had been demoted to X-Class rank.
[Even other World Rankers look down on Korea now.]
Jenna accepted the mission because aside from the generous pay that UAN offered, she thought it was an easy job since Hwang Frost was already out of the equation. For original chapters go to novel·fire.net
[But what the hell is this?!]
Not only was Hwang Frost in his sober state— the Big 4’s strongest was still as strong as he was years ago!
Jenna only blinked, and the entire Han River was already frozen— her companions missing because of Hwang Frost’s surprise attack earlier.
"If you’re not going to attack first, then should I do it?"
Jenna, for the first time in a while, felt a shiver down her spine when she saw the blank look on Hwang Frost’s eyes.
Those were the eyes of an apex predator.
[He’s going to kill me!]
