Chapter 131: Chapter 131

A small dumpling with a piece of octopus in the middle.

Wonhee was surprised when Yejun served takoyaki for breakfast. "They’re... huge."

One takoyaki was the size of her fist.

"It’s made from the Kraken that I got from Song Moonho," Yejun explained after setting up the table and joining her for breakfast. "I love making takoyaki from Kraken meat. They’re one hundred times better than normal takoyaki."

"This is the first time I’m having takoyaki made from Kraken meat," Wonhee said, a bit excited. "Thank you for making this for me, Yejun-ah."

"Then can I get a kiss?"

She just laughed softly, and then she picked up the bamboo skewers that Yejun prepared instead of chopsticks.

"Be careful, Wonhee-ya. It’s hot."

She just nodded while blowing to takoyaki before taking a bite. The takoyaki was too big for her to put in her mouth, so she had to bite carefully.

It was a bit hot, but the flavor hit her tastebuds right away.

Even without seeing her own reflection, Wonhee knew that her face brightened. "This is the best takoyaki I’ve tasted in my life, Yejun-ah. Even the sauce tastes good."

"I’m glad you liked it," Yejun said, and then he used his thumb to wipe the sauce off the side of Wonhee’s mouth. Then he shamelessly licked the sauce off of his finger. "Mmh. I still got it."

Wonhee may or may not have blushed. "Don’t do that. It’s unhygienic."

"We already exchanged saliva, Wonhee-ya."

The rascal had the nerve to grin at her. "Yes, ma’am."

Wonhee just cleared her throat before changing the topic. "Yejun-ah, I unlocked a new skill. It’s called , and it’s responsible for helping Ahyeonnie reach S-Class easily."

"You got it wrong, Wonhee-ya. No Hunter can level up "easily,"" Yejun corrected her. "It’s true that a C-Class Hunter becoming an S-Class Hunter is a huge feat. However, I believe Ahyeon was born to be a high-ranking Hunter in the first place. I bet the System delayed his awakening the way it delayed yours."

"But how can you tell?"

"Because the baby herbivore’s skills are S-Grade. A C-Class couldn’t possibly have S-Grade skills."

Wonhee paused for a moment, and then she sighed. "Tannie? Please come out."

And, just like that, the tangerine administrator appeared in the middle of the table while facing Wonhee.

"You called, Chu Wonhee? I got here right away!"

"Yes, thank you," Wonhee said, and then she got straight to the point. "Tannie, did the System delay Ahyeonnie’s level advancement?"

"Yes!" Tannie said proudly. "But it wasn’t the System’s decision! It was Hunter Do Ahyeon’s wish to remain a C-Class Hunter!"

"Because B-Class and above Hunters aren’t allowed to be a Civilian’s private bodyguard!" Tannie explained. "Hunter Do Ahyeon didn’t want to leave your side, so he unconsciously suppressed his Second Awakening!"

It was what they called it when a Hunter leveled up for the first time.

[Just like when Hunter Lee Seodam jumped from being a B-Class Hunter to an A-Class Hunter.]

According to the current records, a Hunter could have Third Awakening at max.

[That’s why Hunter Lee Seodam is aiming to be an S-Class Hunter.]

"The System saw Hunter Do Ahyeon’s potential and thought it would benefit Guide Chu Wonhee to have him by your side!" Tannie continued with his explanation. "So, the System respected Hunter Do Ahyeon’s secret wish. Instead of his stats level, the System chose to raise Hunter Do Ahyeon’s skills!"

"Then does Ahyeonnie want to level up now?"

"Yes!" Tannie said cheerfully. "The Big 4 assured Hunter Do Ahyeon that he can continue staying by your side as your personal bodyguard even if he becomes an S-Class Hunter! That’s when Hunter Do Ahyeon finally broke free from the restrictions that he unconsciously placed upon himself! And, so, his Second and Final Awakening finally happened!"

She was relieved to know that.

[Ahyeonnie leveled up and the Big 4 assured us that he could stay by my side.]

There was only one thing left that bothered Wonhee.

"But why can I influence Ahyeonnie’s awakening? The System asked me if I think Ahyeonnie deserves to level up."

Tannie suddenly fell silent as if his brain buffered.

"Isn’t it because you’re the reason why the baby herbivore didn’t want to level up?" Yejun asked casually. "Maybe the System asked for your cooperation because you’re the key that Do Ahyeon needs to lift his restrictions."

That sounded plausible, but...

"The name of my newly unlocked skill is ," Wonhee said awkwardly. "It sounds like a reward for people who treat me well. And, uhm, I don’t think it’s fair to have that kind of influence over someone else’s status."

"Nah, you might just be overthinking it, Wonhee-ya. The System won’t give a Guide that kind of ability since it’s too dangerous. Guides can’t protect themselves, after all," Yejun said, waving his hand. "Right, talking orange?"

"I’m a tangerine, you stupid X-Class Hunter."

[Oh, Tannie is back.]

"Anyway, Hwang Yejun is right," Tannie said when he finally returned to his usual self. The System just probably glitched for a moment. "Guide Chu Wonhee’s is a passive skill that only works on people with whom you have a direct connection. You won’t often see it activated. Hunter Do Ahyeon’s case is just special."

"That’s a relief then," Wonhee said, letting out a deep sigh. "For a moment, I was afraid I might have the opposite of that skill as well. I would have felt so bad if I had the skill to punish the Hunters by influencing their stats level to drop."

Tannie, for some reason, vibrated so hard as if it was trembling from fear(?).

"It must be a glitch," Yejun said, avoiding Wonhee’s gaze. "System, why don’t you take the talking orange back and do maintenance or something?"

"STOP LOOKING at my behind, Yejun-ah," Wonhee scolded Yejun, and then she turned around and faced Yejun. "If my grandpa and older siblings see you, they’ll kill you."

Yejun sulked. "Well, it’s rare for you to wear jeans..."

She wasn’t even wearing tight jeans and he was already acting this way.

Wonhee wore a white shirt over a curved crop top, and she paired it with high waist flare denim and white sneakers.

The clothes in her Inventory were all comfortable clothes.

[Since I’m sure I will only need to use them when I can’t go home.]

"You’re acting like a hormonal teenage boy, Yejun-ah. We’re already in our mid-twenties, so please control your urges."

"I’ll try," Yejun said, gulping hard while giving Wonhee a heated once-over. Fortunately, his golden eyes found her face soon. "So pretty."

"Well, you’re also handsome. And you look cool even though you wear the same fit every day," Wonhee teased him, and then she gently patted Yejun’s cheek. "Let’s go to Ahyeon. I texted Yool earlier, and he said Ahyeon is still in the Blue House."

"Okay. You know we need to hug, right?"

She let out a sigh, and then she stepped forward and wrapped her arms around his waist.

"Thank you," Yejun said, wrapping his arms around Wonhee’s body– his hands hovering dangerously close to Wonhee’s round butt cheeks. "Ma’am, can I give them one squeeze–"

"No," Wonhee said firmly, gently smacking Yejun’s back. "Stop obsessing over my butt!"

And Yejun just laughed it off.

WONHEE, in the blink of an eye, arrived at the Blue House with Yejun.

To be precise, they arrived in the exact room where Ahyeon was.

And, to her surprise, President Kwon Jiwoong was there.

[Hunter Lee Seodam, too.]

Fortunately, Wonhee soon saw familiar faces.

Yool, Soobin, Geon, Semi, Graham, and Song Moonho were there.

The other APA Hunters, aside from Lee Seodam, didn’t look familiar to her except for one.

The female Hunter, wearing a monocle, was an A-Class Hunter in charge of appraising Awakened People’s status level without using huge machinery, unlike what Guides had to go through during their appraisal.

"Miss Chu, I’m glad you’re here," President Kwon Jiwoong said when he saw Wonhee. "We just finished checking Hunter Do Ahyeon’s level. Hunter Yuki and Guide Shin Geon both checked his status level, and the two of them got the same result. Hunter Do Ahyeon has now been promoted to being an S-Class Hunter officially."

Wonhee acted like she was surprised because it would be bad if President Kwon Jiwoong found out that she had something to do with Ahyeon’s level advancement. "Really? That’s great news," she said, acting like she couldn’t believe it. "Ahyeonnie..."

She then turned to Ahyeon who was sitting on the bed.

[Ahyeon looks so nervous that I won’t be surprised if he suddenly starts crying.]

"Congratulations, Ahyeonnie," Wonhee said, smiling. Of course, this time, she was being sincere. "I’m so proud of you."

Ahyeon smiled, but it was a nervous smile. "T-Thank you, Miss Chu."

[Oh, Ahyeonnie addressed me formally because of the people around us.]

"Miss Chu, I’m sorry to say this, but you can’t keep Hunter Do Ahyeon as your personal bodyguard anymore," President Kwon Jiwoong said firmly. "This is the first time a Hunter went from being a mid-ranker C-Class to a high-ranker S-Class in just their Second Awakening. Moreover, Hunter Do Ahyeon’s S-Grade barrier ability is useful. I recognize Miss Chu’s value as an S-Class Guide, but an individual can’t monopolize a Hunter that could do better as an APA Hunter." Check latest chapters at N0velFire.ɴet

"You said you recognize my value as an S-Class Guide, but you can’t make an exception for me?" Wonhee asked in a disappointed voice. "President Kwon, I have a villa in Paris."

The APA Hunter was obviously confused.

"I don’t mind moving to France because I feel undervalued here in South Korea," Wonhee said, acting sad. "Maybe France would appreciate me more as the first S-Class Guide in the world than South Korea could."

President Kwon was obviously shocked by Wonhee’s threat.

"For the record, I’m coming with Wonhee wherever she goes," Yejun said, grinning. "Kwon Jiwoong, you know that France’s Ace Team has been scouting me all this time, don’t you?"
