Chapter 105: Chapter 105
[A few minutes before heading to the Nom Nom Restaurant...]
The 10th Floor of the Fall Guild’s Nom Nom Restaurant was reserved only for the Big 4 and their +1. Fresh chapters posted on n͟o͟v͟e͟l͟f͟i͟r͟e͟.net
Hence, only four tables for two were there.
Wonhee didn’t have to worry about the reservation, though.
Her Semi Unnie booked a table for the two of them, while Graham booked a table for him and Ahn Kisoo.
[Ahyeonnie has access to the restaurant because he’s a Guild Member.]
Anyway, they all agreed to meet at Nom Nom Restaurant at the designated time.
[And the designated time is seven PM.]
Of course, Wonhee dolled up.
She wore a beautiful pink tweed two-piece set (a high-neck crop jacket and a long flared skirt) from Diana– the French luxury fashion house where she was the Global Ambassador. The white ankle-strap pumps that completed her outfit were also from that brand.
It should go without saying that the white purse in her hand was a classic bag from Diana.
"Noona, your fansite masters have already arrived at the barbecue restaurant that you rented for them," Ahyeon reported while holding a computer tablet. Of course, it was a tablet made by Daesung Electronics– Semi’s company. "The agency told them that a gift will be sent at the end of the dinner party so they won’t leave early."
The fansite masters that Ahyeon mentioned were the fansite masters who were invited to the press conference.
Unfortunately, Wonhee didn’t get to check on them that day because she fainted.
Hence, she asked her agency to reach out to the fansite masters again and invite them to a dinner party to make it up to them. Thankfully, all the fansite masters were free this evening.
[But the fansite masters don’t know that I’m going to be there later.]
Yes, she was going to surprise her fans.
"Noona, can you check again if the gift sets we’ve prepared are correct?" Ahyeon asked, showing Wonhee the list of gifts included in the gift box they prepared for the fansite masters. "Each one of them will receive a gift box that includes one card holder from Diana, one bottle of perfume from CreScents– the perfume line of Diana that Noona also endorses, and one T-shirt from Ava– the athletic apparel brand that Noona endorses. Then we also prepared a small bouquet of flowers, the cookies that Noona personally baked, and a handwritten letter from Noona with a Polaroid picture in it."
Wonhee nodded, excited to do something nice for her fans.
Half of the items in the gift box were from brands that she endorsed.
But half of it was personalized because she didn’t want her fans to think that she was buying their love and support.
Wonhee was the one who picked the flowers personally, she baked the cookies herself, and she wrote a heartfelt letter to each fansite master. And since her fans liked her selfies, she included a Polaroid picture as well.
[It’s a balanced gift set.]
"Thank you for helping me arrange the gift sets, Ahyeonnie."
Ahyeon’s face lit up. "It’s nothing, Noona. Picking up the items in the store wasn’t hard anyway. Noon is the one who worked hard."
Wonhee just smiled and patted Ahyeon’s head. "Did you call your Guildmaster?"
Once again, his face beamed. But, this time, he also blushed. "The Guildmaster said he used his authority to book a table for me, so I can join Noon and the others for dinner."
"That’s great! I’ve only met Hamin-ssi once, but I’m glad to know that he still treasures you, Ahyeonnie."
Wonhee smiled while gently shaking her head. "It would be nice if Yool could join us for dinner."
"Hyung is hanging out with Song Moonho-nim again," Ahyeon said worriedly. "And Hyung said he wanted to be a side character forever..."
"GONG YOOL, look at me!"
"Yeah, I’m looking. I recognize you even though you changed a lot," Yool said to the crazed fan sitting on the chair. "You had double-eyelid surgery and rhinoplasty. You also shaved your jaw and had lip fillers, right? It also looks like you bleached your skin until you achieved that level of paleness. I remember you, and you weren’t that light-skinned back then."
Kang Jina, the woman in the original Gong Yool’s memories, appeared to be so shocked that she couldn’t even move an inch.
Well, the woman was tied to the chair, so she really couldn’t move.
But the fact that Kang Jina’s face was red suggested that she was embarrassed after Yool pointed out the cosmetic procedures that she had obviously done.
[Oh, that was tactless of me.]
"It’s alright. Your money, your body, your choice. I have nothing against people who go under the knife because our society has messed up beauty standards," Yool said, trying to console the woman. "But, next time, find yourself a better doctor."
Yool turned to Song Moonho to glare at him.
But the old man wasn’t even facing him because he was too busy covering his mouth while trying to hold back his laughter.
[And he’s not being discreet about it.]
"You’ve changed, Gong Yool," Kang Jina, who looked like she finally snapped out of it, said. "You only like pretty things. So, how come you’ve become a fan of that ugly Maru–"
"Shut the fuck up, bitch," Yool said coldly. "There are three people you can’t insult in front of me: Wony, Ahyeonnie, and Maru. You can curse me out and insult me from head to toe, but not my people."
Because Wonhee, Ahyeon, and Maru were the people who kept Yool sane all this time.
"I won’t ask why you broke into my place and stole my stuff because I know I’ll never understand obsessive fans like you," Yool said, sighing. "But tell me where my stuff is. You can keep everything else aside from the vault and Maru’s rare photo cards."
"This is why I broke into your apartment, Gong Yool!" Kang Jina cried. "You’ve changed, and I wanted to know why! It’s like you’re a different person now!"
Yool was starting to regret not acting properly as the original Gong Yool.
[Who knew even a failed idol like him would have a dedicated saesang 1 ?]
"SHOULD I follow Unnie’s suggestion and live with either her or Soobin Oppa in the meantime?" Wonhee wondered out loud while sitting in the backseat. "I feel bad for the other residents of my apartment building."
It was because the reporters were camping out around their apartment building again and blocking the cars that they thought was hers.
In fact, Semi had to act decoy so that Wonhee could leave in peace.
Her older sister came to fetch her at her penthouse, but they couldn’t leave together because of the reporters.
"What do you think, Ahyeonnie?"
"I a-agree with you, Noona," Ahyeon said, glancing at Wonhee in the rearview mirror. "I can protect you, but I can’t protect the privacy of the other residents in the building."
"Where should I go then? To Semi Noona’s house? Or Soobin Oppa’s?"
"E-Either would be safer for you, Noona. Both Yeon Soobin-nim’s house and Jang Semi-nim’s house are known as impregnable fortresses. The reporters will be too afraid to approach their residences because both Yeon Soobin-nim and Jang Semi-nim are also known for being merciless to intruders."
"I think I’d stay with Semi Unnie in the meantime," Wonhee wondered out loud. "I miss my nephew anyway."
Ahyeon smiled and nodded.
Anyway, after a few minutes, they finally arrived at the Fall Guild’s Headquarters where the Nom Nom Restaurant was also located.
They met Graham and Ahn Kisoo in the lobby of the restaurant.
Then Chef Ryung Dae himself escorted their group to the 10th Floor.
"Semi Unnie said she’d be a little late," Wonhee said after receiving her older sister’s message. "Unnie is dealing with the reporters..."
"I see," Chef Ryung Dae said while nodding. "I was wondering why Semi Noona isn’t here when she was the one who reserved a table."
"Then is it okay for me to be here when Semi Unnie isn’t here yet?"
"Of course, Miss Chu," Chef Ryung Dae said, smiling at her. "You’re an S-Class Guide– that earns you your own table here on the 10th Floor. The Guildmaster will make it official later, but he gave the permission to tell you in advance: Miss Chu may now book the 10th Floor under your own name."
"I see," Wonhee said. She wasn’t really thrilled about it, but she wanted to be polite. "Thank you."
"What a lukewarm reaction," Chef Ryung Dae commented, laughing as if he was amused. "Perhaps the rumor about Miss Chu hating the Nom Nom Restaurant is true? Every single Korean celebrity has dined in here at least once– except for Miss Chu."
"I just don’t like how this restaurant discriminates among their guests."
"You feel the same way, huh?"
It was Guildmaster Hamin– last name ’Ha,’ first name ’Min.’ But people got used to combining his surname and given name. Hence, the Guildmaster of the Fall Guild came to be known as ’Hamin.’
He was a young man in his late twenties.
[Or is it early thirties? I forgot.]
Anyway, Hamin was known for his three features: his jet-black hair, golden eyes, and long legs. He was full Korean, so it was amazing that he stood 2 meters tall. And he was also very fit.
[No wonder people call him ’Hunter San.’]
’San’ meant mountain, so people gave Hamin his stage name ’Hunter San’ because, apparently, he was as big as a mountain.
[It’s like how people call Yejun ’Hwang Frost’ because of his ice powers.]
Wonhee suddenly missed Yejun.
"Since the Guildmaster is here, I’ll go and fetch Semi Noona. My staff just informed me that Noona has arrived," Chef Ryung Dae said while checking his phone. "I shall escort the wife of our dearest investor."
[Semi Unnie’s husband is a shareholder here.]
"It’s been a while, Chu Wonhee," Hamin greeted her while looking down at her with a blank look on his face, his voice as dull as his expression. "Has it been five years already? You’re still as small as I remember."
[I’m not small, you’re just very tall...]
"Thank you for taking care of our Ahyeonnie, Chu Wonhee."
Wonhee glanced at Ahyeon and smiled when she saw him blushing.
"It’s nothing, Hamin-ssi. Ahyeonnie is my friend," Wonhee said, and then she got straight to the point. "Hamin-ssi, we’re here to ask if you have an adult Octocagon among your Sea Monster Collection."
"I have the last Octocagon in my Aquarium."
"Can we buy it then, Hamin-ssi?"
Hamin’s face remained poker-faced. "I’m selling it for one hundred billion won."
Graham, Ahn Kisoo, and Ahyeon all gasped in disbelief.
"Okay," Wonhee said calmly. "Do you want it in cash?"
Graham and Ahn Kisoo reacted quite passionately.
Honestly, even Hamin looked shocked that she agreed right away.
"We know you’re rich, but a hundred billion won is still a huge amount of money, Chu Wonhee," Graham scolded her, and then he glared at Hamin. "Hyung, 100 billion won is too much. Why are you scamming a naïve rich kid, huh?"
Hamin blinked, but his blank expression didn’t change. "It was a joke. But I didn’t know Chu Wonhee had that much money to burn. Now I’m tempted."
Wonhee accepted Hamin’s price because she knew Hamin needed money.
[There’s a rumor in the business world that Hamin is looking for someone who’d buy his company shares.]
Wonhee was interested in that.
"You can sell me your shares for that amount, Hamin-ssi," Wonhee said, smiling. "You’re thinking of selling your shares, aren’t you?"
Hamin was the Guildmaster, but the Fall Guild had a conglomerate behind it.
[Nom Nom Restaurant is practically owned by SC Foods, so Hamin-ssi doesn’t really have a say in the company. Plus, he’s often stuck in dungeons for weeks.]
Hamin raised an eyebrow at her. "What will you do if I sell my shares to you?"
"I’ll buy more shares until I get the voting power I need to change the company."
"First, I’ll stop the company from gatekeeping monster dishes."
Hamin’s expression didn’t change, but his golden eyes seemed to sparkle a bit. "Let’s talk about that later," he said. "You’re here for the Octocagon, aren’t you?"
Wonhee smiled and nodded. "Yes~"
Wonhee was amazed when Hamin brought her group to the rooftop of the Fall Guild’s Headquarters.
It had a dome-like aquarium.
And all the fish she saw were obviously not normal.
[So, these are Sea Monsters...]
Wonhee was especially surprised by the appearance of the Octacagon.
It looked like a really big octopus, but it was deep violet in color and it had twelve really long and big legs.
"The higher-ups actually want me to prepare to cook the Octacagon for the foreign VIPs about to arrive next week," Hamin said while standing next to Wonhee. "But they won’t be able to complain if I say I cooked the Octacagon for the first S-Class Guide in the world. Everyone wants the chance to suck up to you, Chu Wonhee."
"Are you one of them, Hamin-ssi?"
"I need your money to find someone important to me."
Wonhee smiled at how straightforward Hamin-ssi. "Yejun taught me that I shouldn’t accept deals easily," she said. And then she turned to Hamin. "What can you do for me, Hamin-ssi?"
"I was told that you also need to find the person I’m looking for."
Hamin’s golden eyes glowed. "The System."
Wonhee was about to ask more about it when, suddenly, her Status Window popped up again.
[Congratulations, Chu Wonhee!
You just got one step closer to your Keep the Key close to you until it’s time for the legendary meet-up of the Lucky One and the Unlucky One!]
To be honest, she didn’t expect that Hamin would be involved.
[But it seems like the System is gathering the people who can help me with my purpose.]
Wonhee tilted her head to one side. "The person we’re looking for... is called the Unlucky One?"
"Yeah," Hamin agreed, nodding. "That person is really unlucky."
