Chapter 14: Chapter 14

Matthew continued to accompany Karin and Silvi to chat for a while until Vian came over to them.

"I'm back," said Vian in an unfriendly voice. Matthew and the two girls looked at each other at the same time. Mathhew then got up and quickly left from there. He knew Vian wouldn't be happy if he stayed there, so he chose to leave without making a fuss. He also wanted to impress Karin with him to think that he was a good man in her eyes.

After Matthew left, Vian then sat beside Karin.

"You look like you're having fun," he said sarcastically.

"Nothing," replied Karin "we were just chatting."

"Didn't I tell you not to talk to him?"

"He just accompanied us to chat, that's all," said Karin. She couldn't understand why Vian was so angry.

'He may hate Matthew, but I have nothing to do with their enmity,' the girl muttered to herself. Even if Matthew intended to be good friends, she couldn't possibly refuse just because of Vian. Vian has no right to limit het association, just because that person is someone he doesn't like.

"Okay, it's up to you," said Vian. From the tone of his voice he sounded so angry.

Karin stood up.

"Okay, you seem so annoyed with me, so we should just go home," said the girl. Vian was silent. Karin and Silvi then hurriedly walked towards the exit.

Vian realized he had done something wrong. He immediately followed Karin and Silvi

"I'm sorry," he said. "I shouldn't be mad at you. It's just that Matthew isn't a nice guy. I'm afraid he did something to you."

Karin was silent for a moment looking at Vian. "Vian, I'm an adult, I can take care of myself, I don't need your protection," she said. She and Silvi then walked to the rental car that had been called. But Vian immediately followed suit and told the rental car driver to leave.

"Karin, let me take you," said Vian. Karin shook her head.

"Vian, you are the host in this place, where can you go? You must to escort the guests?" She said. Vian was stunned. Karin smiled and patted Vian's arm.

"Vian, I know what you mean, so I'm not angry anymore, but I really have to go home now," he said.

"You have to accompany guests, so you stay here, I'll go home alone."

Karin then got into the rental car which still hadn't left even though Vian had told the driver to leave. Silvi followed into the car after saying goodbye to Vian.

After the car left, Vian still stood rooted in the yard for a long time.

'I'm free,' Karin said in her heart, squirming. A smile graced her face. The day has changed. His job is done. Shele will no longer be fussed over with Vian and his entertainment world.

After a while she got down and rushed to the kitchen.

"No job," said Silvi, who was eating instant ramen while sitting on the kitchen chair.

"Are you sure you don't regret not seeing Vian again?"

"No," said Karin who took a cup of instant ramen from the kitchen cupboard and poured hot water into it. The girl then took the chopsticks and sat in front of Silvi.

"Vian's world is a different world from the one we live in. Such a world, I don't want to enter it."

***

Vian sat pensively in his cafeteria. It was a place that Karin had created. The girl with all her heart and soul put forth her abilities for the construction of the place. Even though the girl was no longer there, every corner of the place seemed to have a shadow of Karin's figure there.

Cindy opened the door and came to the man.

"I'll help you get back. This is not the place for you."

"Is that really?" asked Vian. Cindy nodded with a smile.

"If I help you, there are conditions that I must fulfill, you must to be my lover," said Cindy.

Vivian turned to the girl. Cindy herself was staring intently at him. His hand gently caressed Vian's cheek in a seductive voice.

"So how? Are you willing to accept this pleasant offer?"

***

"How?" Silvi asked while looking at the laptop screen in front of Karin.

"There is no answer yet. The job description are still new," Karin replied.

"Calm down," said Silvi while massaging Karin's shoulders.

"You're beautiful and smart. There's bound to be a lot of people who want to hire you."

"Hopefully. It's just that I'm thinking about the rent for our house. If I don't get a job soon, then it will be a burden for you," said Karin.

"No one feels burdened. I will bear the cost of the house. Don't worry about it," said Silvi, hugging her best friend.

***

For days without a call for work, Karin looked more and more depressed. Silvi tried her best to be calm down her best friend.

"Hm, Edwin offered you back. Why didn't you accept?" ask Silvi set

oh a few moments.

"I can't go back there. Edwin and Anna's problems will definitely bother me again," Karin said.

"Maybe I should just work at your place."

"Karin!" Silvi scolds.

"You're a great building designer. How can you just work as a supermarket employee?"

"It doesn't matter, I'll do whatever job I can. It's too long to wait to work as a building designer."

Sylvia looked down and then shook her head.

"There are currently no vacancies at my workplace," she said in a tone full of regret.

Karin patted her best friend's arm with a smile.

"It's okay, then, I'll find a job myself."

***

"Are you sure you want to work here?" asked Nana. Nana is Karin's school friend who works at a bar. Karin just nodded. She really needs work. It doesn't feel good if she continues to be unemployed. Not to mention Silvi who bears all the expenses with a meager salary. She also can't be relax if she just stays at home.

"Yes, I need a job now. Therefore, I need your help to be able to work here," said Karin.

"But haven't you been working as a successful building designer. I hear your workplace is also big. How come...?"

"I'm out of there and haven't found a job," Karin said. Nana smiled and nodded.

"It doesn't matter if you want to work here. I'll talk to my boss. Oh yeah, the salary here is great too if you can please the guests."

"Thank you, Na," Karin said with a happy smile.

"It doesn't matter, we are friends. It's appropriate to help each other, right?"

***

Karin came home excited. Shee then told Silvi that she had found a job. The girl jumped happily, even hugging Karin.

"Is your job good? Where are you working now?" Silvi then asked  repeatedly.
