Chapter 18: Chapter 18

"Stay away from me! I don't need any of that!" Blaze angrily shouted. Caleb arrived and saw Lina – Reese's helper coming out of Blaze's room, bringing the tray with untouched food. Linda looked at Caleb and bowed before going back to the kitchen, fearing the Alpha's rage.

This is the first time Caleb saw his best friend, and at the same time, the Alpha of the Blue Moon pack looks like this. Blaze is a mess, a pitiful one at that. They couldn't approach him

because Blaze shut himself in the room. His parents tried comforting him, but it was futile. They couldn't do anything. It's been a week since Ella found about the existence of werewolves, which was not a good reaction. Blaze's father took charge of the pack matters temporarily as Blaze was unable to.

"Caleb," Candice called. Caleb bowed to her, but Candice stopped him.

"No need to do that, Caleb," Candice said and smiled. "You're like a family to us," she added.

"I want to ask a favor from you," Candice said and glanced at her son's room. "Please help my son. Please talk to Ella," Candice begged. Caleb nodded his head eagerly. That was his plan originally; he wanted to help his best friend. Caleb needs to find Ella and explain everything to her on behalf of Blaze.

"Gwyneth, did you see Ella?" Caleb asked Gwyneth, who was sitting on a bench near the garden. He quickly went to the school after talking with Blaze's parents.

"No, beta. She didn't go to school today," Gwyneth answered worriedly. She's been going to Ella's place, but she won't face her. Caleb sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose.

"She knows Gwen. Ella already knows what we are," Caleb confessed. Gwyneth's eyes widened in shock that she almost spat out the food she was eating.

"What can I help you with, beta Caleb?" Gwyneth asked, her voice cracked, and tears started falling from her eyes. She couldn't take it if Ella ignored her once again now that she knows the whole truth.

"Tell me her address. I will personally talk to her," Caleb said. He doesn't want to involve more people. Gwyneth took out a pen and paper and wrote Ella's address, and she gave it to Caleb. Caleb took his car keys and drove off to Ella's place.

Ella let out a sigh and hugged her knees. It's been a week since she last saw Blaze and knew about the truth of him being a werewolf. She still couldn't believe it. Ella thought werewolves only exist in books. She felt betrayed the second time around.

"Ella? Are you alright?" Elisa asked when she slowly opened her daughter's room. "You've been absent for a week. What happened?" she added. Ella gave her a small smile.

"I'm fine, Mom. Don't worry too much," Ella muttered. "You can go to work. I already passed my projects and quizzes. I won't go in today," she added. Elisa walked towards her daughter and hugged her. She had a strong gut feeling it has something to do with Blaze.

"Tell me, dear. What's the problem?" Elisa asked while gently rubbing her daughter's back. Ella shook her head as a response. She doesn't want to burden her mother about it. She wants to keep Blaze's secret even if he lied to her.

"Mom? Can you drop me at the nearest café here? I want to unwind," Ella said. Elisa smiled and touched her face.

"Everything for my baby," Elisa said. "Go and have a bath! You reek," she teasingly added. Ella laughed and rolled her eyes at her. She quickly grabbed her towel and went to the bathroom to wash.

After Elisa dropped Ella off at the café, she went to the vet clinic. Ella went inside and sat on the corner. She ordered a latte and cheesecake. While waiting for her order, Ella thought of Blaze. Even if he had lied, her heart still beats and yearns for him. She wanted to see him, but she was afraid that she will just utter words that will hurt him more. Ella needs time to accept everything. She loves him, yes, but lying to her about his true nature, hurt her.

"Ella! What a coincidence," Mikael said and sat in front of him. "I didn't see you in school. How are you?" he added with a big grin on his face.

"I'm okay," Ella answered indisposed. Mikael began talking about the events in school, but Ella wasn't interested in it a bit. She just wanted to be alone and not speak. Ella flinched when Mikael suddenly touched her hand.

"Are you sure you're okay? You looked unwell," Mikael muttered. Ella nodded her head and secretly pulled her hands away from him. She doesn't want to offend Mikael because the man had put a lot of effort into talking to her.

"Ella, I'm sorry I have to go. There's an emergency," Mikael sadly said. "I'm sorry I couldn't bring you home," he added.

"It's okay, Mikael. My mother will fetch me," Ella said with a smile. "Take care!" she added. Mikael hurriedly went out of the café. Ella was surprised to see Caleb standing in front of her.

"Ella, Blaze needs you," Caleb said. Hearing his name brought longing feelings to Ella. Her heart began beating erratically.

"I'm sorry, Caleb. I'm not ready to talk," Ella added and walked away, leaving Caleb in the café. She hugged herself and cried while slowly sauntering the streets of the Blue Moon.
