Chapter 21: Chapter 21
I heard my front door open, so I run down the stairs thinking it maybe Kendal as she left my home an hour ago without informing
But it's Sapphire.
Her eyes are red-rimmed and she looks like a mess, just like Kendal did a few weeks ago.
"Hey?" she says, trying to sound happy but clearly fails at it.
"Yeah?" I say, "What's the matter?"
"Ruby is missing, I don't know if Kendal told you but it's been," she pauses. "Like a day."
"So, why come for me?" I say confused, "Unless you think something crazy?"
She lets her head down and her blue-tipped hair falls on her face, which she tucks behind her ears.
"I- I just don't have any friends to lean on, like you have Kendal. I have only myself to lean on. I thought you could help me, maybe. But I guess, its fine. I'll go. Thank you for your time" she finishes and turns around to leave.
Kendal was there to help me, but I am the one who pushed her away. I am not going to make the same mistake I made with Kezya.
"What's the help you need?" I ask.
She turns, she eyes full of gleaming happiness. “She’s always at the Ann Falls; I think we should start from there”
Ann Falls.
My heart throbs knowing that Kezya was with someone. Someone who wasn’t me was with her.
The thought her being with someone, cheating on me just doesn’t fit.
“I’ll come” I say coming out, I close the door and lock it.
I follow Sapphire and after a second, Kendal crosses my mind. She left this morning and never came back, all her things are here.
The worst ever scenario passes my mind.
Where are you? I text her, fear piercing through my skin.
I stop, and Sapphire glances and sighs. She can wait.
Panic invades me but soon dissolves when I see the three dots.
We have something called school.
I’m sorry, I text her back. She must know what it’s for but she takes a moment or so.
Forget it, she texts back finally.
“Are you going to come?” Sapphire’s cold voice makes me jerk my head up.
“Yeah” I say and start walking.
Ann Falls is a place where teenage couples come stay all night, this place is just in between Deorgon and Western Creek.
I have come here twice, once with Kezya and Kendal.
It hurts knowing that it wasn’t very long ago. Funny, how everything can change in three years.
Sapphire leads me into dark and thick layers of the Ann Falls; I could feel the coolness from the water.
Where are you? Kendal texts.
Sapphire glances towards me but keeps making her way. “Where are we going?” I ask her, “how do you know for sure that she is here”
I get another message, from Kendal. ‘??’
I am at Ann Falls, Ruby’s missing.
I get another notification, a one that jolts my body.
HonneyDead3541: Welcome.
Panic rises through me, and a splotch of blood falls on my brightly lit screen.
“Um…Sap?” I look up and she is nowhere to be seen. “Sapphire?” I call out.
“Yes, Charlie Gray?” her voice sounds grim.
“Where are we?” I ask.
“You are in my place” a voice says, a voice I recognize too well.
Wesley.
But before I could respond, a dull thud echoes my ear and my vision goes blurry.
