Chapter 83: Chapter 83

Chapter 83

Flora, exhausted, could only lean on Enzo beside her, partly because he was holding onto her shoulders tightly, making it impossible for her to evade. In front of Flora, Mr. Hill was continuously pleading for forgiveness, causing her distress. Even though she didn't understand what was happening, she suspected that Enzo had done something to them and was putting the blame on her.

"Please stand up, I'm not angry about anything, you don't need to apologize to me," Flora sighed.

Mr. Hill, upon hearing this, felt relieved. He looked appreciatively at Flora and then turned his gaze towards Enzo sitting beside her.

"My wife said that, so I can reconsider our cooperation. If there's nothing else, you can leave now; my wife is exhausted and needs some rest," Enzo waved him away, his affectionate gaze still fixed on Flora. He felt as though a warm stream flowed through him when Flora leaned on him.

Mr. Hill thanked Flora repeatedly and quickly took his daughter away. He no longer considered the idea of his daughter becoming Enzo's wife and advised Madian to be more discreet. However, Madian, who had looked down on Flora, considered Flora to be quite ordinary. She thought that Flora was only temporarily favored by Enzo, and one day, Enzo would grow tired of her and discard her.

"In the end, what do you want from me meeting them?" Flora asked irritably. If it weren't for the effects of the drug making her tired, she would have pushed him away.

Enzo furrowed his brow innocently, "He wants to offer his daughter to me. Are you not angry?"

He said this in a gentle tone as he placed his chin on top of Flora's head and hugged her tightly.

Upon hearing Enzo's words, Flora understood to some extent what was happening and why the other man had been continuously apologizing to her. She secretly sneered in her heart, he never considered her feelings. On the surface, Enzo showed that the position of 'wife' in his heart was crucial, but Flora knew that he did it to let everyone know who his wife was. Once everyone knew, she would find it hard to escape from him.

Flora stood up, intending to return to her room, but Enzo's words made her pause. "Rollo's birthday is coming up; I want his birthday party to be grand. Do you have any objections?"

"Do you... finally want to control every aspect of my life?" Flora choked out, tears welling up in her eyes. This man's possessiveness was off the charts.

Enzo chuckled softly, stood up, and approached Flora. He affectionately embraced her waist and pulled her closer. "How can you say such harsh words? Rollo is my son, and because I didn't know you were pregnant at the time, we had many misunderstandings. Now and in the future, I have to make it up to my son. I guess you've never organized a proper birthday party for our son, have you?"

"ENZO!" Flora shouted angrily. It was true that she wasn't as wealthy as Enzo, but she had always managed to throw a complete and beautiful birthday party for Rollo within her means. She had never let Rollo lack anything. Enzo's words made Flora feel inadequate and impoverished.

Soon, Rollo's birthday arrived. To create a surprise, Enzo didn't tell his son and daughter anything in advance. The party was held at a beachside villa. Although it wasn't as vast and glamorous as Enzo's own mansion, its value was no less.

By evening, all the guests had arrived, having received birthday invitations from Enzo. What piqued their curiosity the most was the content of the invitations, which mentioned the birthday of Enzo's son, something they had no idea about.

Rollo looked around in awe at the dazzling and magnificent scene before him, holding onto Enzo's trousers. He asked, "Dad, why are we here?"

Enzo smiled, gently patting Rollo's head, and replied, "You'll find out in a moment."

Rollo didn't understand his father's intention, but the grand party in front of him filled him with excitement and delight. Min, his elder sister, was accustomed to the upper-class lifestyle, so she escorted her younger brother to introduce him to everyone.

As Rollo and Enzo didn't share many similarities, they stood out as quite distinct from each other, and none of the guests paid much attention to Rollo, assuming he was just another guest's son.

Enzo, on the other hand, exuded an air of pride and authority as he stepped forward, commanding the attention of all the guests. "Thank you all for coming to my son's birthday party. Due to some circumstances, I haven't introduced the little one earlier, and today, on this birthday celebration, I want you all to meet my second son, Rollo Robert." As Enzo finished speaking, the spotlight shone directly on Rollo, who initially felt embarrassed but soon became thrilled by the attention.

Flora, observing from a corner, had anticipated that Enzo would do this, as it was the same way he had publicly introduced Min in the past. It was an old but effective method, and Flora couldn't object since this party was organized for Rollo.

"Madam, you don't seem happy. What's wrong?" Taylor, standing nearby, gently inquired.

Flora sighed and nodded slightly, saying, "I didn't want to come here at all, even though... this is my son's birthday party."

Taylor understood Flora's feelings. Over time, she had witnessed the issues between Flora and Boss. "How do you think of this mansion?"

Flora, not catching Taylor's implication, simply replied, "It's very beautiful."

"Indeed, this mansion is the birthday gift that Mr. Enzo has prepared for the young master. Maybe he hasn't told you yet, but after the party, he might. But don't worry, Min won't lose out because she currently owns two large mansions and an art gallery," Taylor explained, discreetly observing Flora's reaction, but Flora didn't display any signs of happiness or surprise.

"So what..." Flora replied casually, her gaze fixed on Rollo, who was being congratulated and surrounded by everyone.

Flora was so focused on watching Rollo that she didn't notice Enzo standing behind her. Taylor discreetly left them alone, and it wasn't until he put his arm around her waist that Flora realized. She felt uncomfortable and tried to avoid him, but Enzo held her even tighter.

He whispered into her ear, "How do you feel about this party, watching our son enjoying himself? This is where you belong, where our sons belong. I'm just doing what a father should do."

Flora pursed her lips and remained silent. Although she didn't want to admit it, she couldn't deny that Enzo was the father of her two children, and he was doing what a father should. She silently stood at a distance, observing, refraining from doing anything that might disrupt her children's joy.

"Mr. Robert, I'm delighted to be invited to your son's birthday party. It's quite a surprise, as I just found out you have two children," a middle-aged man happily commented.

Enzo replied politely, "You're not the only one who just found out; all the new guests are the same. I had some issues before, so I couldn't introduce my son earlier."

The man noticed Flora standing beside and saw Enzo's hand around her waist. He smiled warmly and asked, "So... she is...?"

Enzo had been waiting for this question from someone else. He pulled Flora closer, causing her to lean against him. Enzo grinned and said, "This is my wife, Flora. Flora, this is Mr. Johnson."

Mr. Johnson, upon hearing that, quickly greeted Flora, leaving her feeling somewhat flustered. She knew that the man named Johnson in front of her was highly renowned in the financial field. She had come across a lot of information about him and admired his intelligence and decisiveness. Now, he was bowing respectfully to her, leaving Flora unsure of how to react.

"I..." Flora began but was interrupted by Johnson's words, "Miss Flora, you've been quite mysterious all these years, never making an appearance. This is our first meeting, so I hope you'll forgive any mistakes." Johnson smiled, thankfully not suspecting Flora's true relationship with Enzo, as that would have been problematic.

Flora wanted to escape, but she couldn't. She stood there silently, offering a hesitant smile to Johnson. Enzo noticed her silence and quickly added, "My wife hasn't been feeling well lately. I wanted her to stay home and rest, but today is our son's birthday, and she insisted on coming."

Enzo spoke with a smile, successfully painting a picture of a happy family in the eyes of the present guests. Flora couldn't act as clueless or put on as fake a smile as Enzo. She couldn't bear to continue witnessing his insincere facade.

"I'm tired. I need some rest," Flora softly said as she pushed Enzo away. Taking advantage of the relative lack of attention on her, she hurriedly went into an empty room. "I feel suffocated. Please don't follow me," she added, knowing that Enzo's presence would only draw more attention.

Flora had to wear a tight-fitting dress that made her uncomfortable. She sat alone in the room, making herself a cup of coffee and gazing out at the balcony. The nighttime view by the sea was not as beautiful as during the day; it made her feel empty and cold.

As Flora turned around, she noticed a girl in the room. The same girl who had come with Mr. Hill to meet her a few days ago.

"You are...?" Flora had met her before but didn't know her name.

"I'm Madian Hill. We've met before, but I didn't introduce myself then." Madian arrogantly walked over, sat down, and scrutinized Flora from head to toe.

"Thank you for coming to my son's birthday party," Flora politely said, wanting to leave for another room to be alone, but Madian stopped her.

Madian didn't find anything special about Flora. She had gathered some information about Flora, including her mother's early demise, her life with her drug-addicted father in a remote, impoverished town, and her struggles to make it to a university in the city. Madian couldn't understand how Flora had managed to get close to, and marry, a powerful and wealthy man like Enzo. She felt that Flora was utterly undeserving.

"Flora, let me remind you not to reach too high. Even if you bear children for Mr. Enzo, it won't make you noble or elevate your status. A woman with such a humble background and no outstanding qualities like you must have used some dirty tricks to climb into Mr. Enzo's bed, didn't you?" Madian sneered, looking down on Flora, raising her voice.

Flora was taken aback by such a direct accusation from someone else but decided not to argue with a younger, less experienced person. She remained silent and wanted to leave, but Madian stopped her again. Madian despised Flora's indifferent attitude.

"Do you dare to leave without my permission? If it weren't for Mr. Enzo, do you think my father would apologize to you? You must have said something to Enzo for him to act this way," Madian continued, her tone growing more hostile.

Flora didn't feel anger, only exhaustion. Enzo had dragged her into too many problems. Her spirit was drained, and she sighed, saying, "I have nothing to do with it. If you have any issues, discuss them with Enzo. Please don't bother me."
