Chapter 74: Chapter 74
Chapter 74
Ron spoke gently and explained everything that had happened to me. I never expected Enzo's actions to be so horrifying and shocking.
"Because all of this has no clear evidence since Enzo was just the mastermind behind it all, he didn't directly carry out those acts. With the power in Enzo's hands, my family knows what he did but... I and my family couldn't do anything about him," Ron sighed.
"Why are you telling me now? If you had told me earlier, then..." I said, thinking that if Ron hadn't kept this secret, maybe I could have done something to help.
Ron heard me and chuckled dismissively, shaking his head. "I didn't want to tell you. I didn't want you to continue suffering like you did six years ago."
"But..." I wanted to say more, but Ron quickly interrupted, "In the time to come, I can be with you to take care of you and Rollo. If there's any problem, just call me. Even though I'm not here, my subordinates are still working here. They can assist you."
The conversation between me and Ron ended in a tense and somber atmosphere. I just felt like I was on the edge between life and death, feeling fear and anxiety to the point where I couldn't breathe normally.
A chilling and eerie feeling made me shiver all over. I wanted to sleep, but I was too scared to close my eyes.
Ron didn't want me to see him off at the airport, but I still went, just without letting him know. Looking at the plane with him on it, I felt disoriented and bewildered. When Ron appeared to help me, he had become the guiding light that rescued me from the dark and gloomy days, but I couldn't do anything for him, and his departure made me feel unsafe.
The plane was no longer in sight, but I continued to stare in that direction. I didn't know how to describe my emotions at that moment, but I knew that I felt lost and directionless.
However, when it came time to make a decision, I still chose to stay here and not leave with Ron. At that time, I just thought that I didn't want to continue running away. Now, looking back on that decision, I feel that it was the right one. If I had gone with him, it would have not only affected him but also his family.
I stood here, lost in silent contemplation, gazing aimlessly into the distant horizon. A sudden gust of wind swept by, gentle as a natural breath, yet it couldn't soothe the turmoil in my thoughts. The dark sky seemed to mirror my current state of mind, enveloping my thoughts.
"What should I do now?" I softly murmured to myself, lost in thought when a soft and alluring voice awakened me.
"Ms. Flora, I'm delighted to see you again." The woman with platinum hair and a seductive figure approached me. She was wearing a hat that partially obscured her face, so I didn't immediately recognize her.
"Who are you?" I asked, silently recalling the women I had met before. It wasn't until she removed her hat, looked at me, and flashed her trademark smile that my face turned pale and extremely uncomfortable.
"Why are you here?" I furrowed my brow, my tone uncomfortable as I saw Taylor. I didn't dislike Taylor, but her presence made me very uneasy, as she always seemed to have hidden motives.
Taylor still maintained her sweet smile, looking at me cheerfully. Her perfect deception made it impossible for me to tell if she was being sincere.
Taylor chuckled softly and said, "Mrs. Flora, your question makes me quite sad. I just returned after completing my work. It's quite a coincidence to meet you here, Mrs. Why are you here?"
Only a fool wouldn't recognize the deceit in Taylor's words. I was certain there was no coincidence here. If Taylor was here, then Enzo must be nearby. Unconsciously, I glanced behind Taylor, searching for the figure of that man.
It seemed Taylor had also noticed this; she deliberately stood in my line of sight and said, "Do you want to find the Boss, Mrs.? I'm not accompanying him, but I know where he is. Would you like to go with me?"
Others looking at it might simply think this was a casual and very ordinary conversation between two women, but only I knew the hidden meaning behind Taylor's words.
I was fed up and wanted to leave. "I'm not crazy," I thought, regardless of how Taylor felt, and I didn't care. In the past, I wouldn't have behaved thoughtlessly and childishly like this because I understood that Taylor was simply following Enzo's orders. But Taylor's loyalty to Enzo made me despise anything related to him, except for my own children.
How could Taylor even think that I wanted to meet Enzo, waiting until I lost my sanity to actively seek him out. My mood was already sour from watching Ron leave, and now I grew even more irritated seeing Enzo's subordinates.
But as I walked a short distance, I suddenly remembered something very important that I had forgotten for a long time. I turned back and saw Taylor still standing there, smiling with the same unchanged smile. I felt a bit uneasy about this woman; she was beautiful, dangerously so.
It was as if Taylor could read something in my gaze. She approached me and spoke softly and seductively, "Madam, if you don't want to meet the Boss, can you spare some time for me? It's been a long time since we talked."
I wanted to decline immediately because I had no desire to talk to her, but then I realized that Taylor was Enzo's secretary, the person who would know everything related to Enzo first. Although I wasn't sure if she would tell me anything, at least I could gather some clues.
"Alright, but it's not convenient to talk here." There were still quite a few people around, and while they might not know who I was, they definitely knew who Taylor was.
Taylor nodded gently and gestured toward a luxurious white car waiting nearby. "Alright, let's go somewhere more comfortable."
The driver standing outside immediately greeted Taylor and opened the car door. Taylor glanced at the driver and said, "You can leave; I'll drive myself."
As I got into the car, I glanced around because this was the first time I had seen this car. Taylor smiled and said, "This is my own car, not the Boss's."
I looked at Taylor, feeling worried that she might take me to Enzo's place, where I least wanted to go. "Regarding Min... I want to know about her health. I'm concerned about her," I said, my voice trembling with anxiety for Min.
Taylor replied casually, "She is fine; everything is good, no health issues at all. Does Madam doubt the Boss's ability to care for her?"
I furrowed my brow at Taylor's response. "Fine? Are you sure? Min suffered from depression after I left six years ago. I want to know if her condition has improved. This isn't something you can just dismiss as 'fine.' "I can't believe Taylor would be so indifferent. But Taylor looked at me with a perplexed expression.
"Madam, are you misunderstanding something? Or perhaps you've confused Min's information with someone else's? Young Miss Min has never been depressed. It's true that when you left, she was sad and became pickier about her food," Taylor explained. However, I couldn't be mistaken because Enzo himself had told me this. When I returned with Rollo, Enzo had blamed me for Min's prolonged shock and depression during my long absence.
But now Taylor is saying that my daughter isn't depressed?
"But... the one who told me that my daughter is depressed is Enzo. There's no way you don't know that." I couldn't keep my composure and raised my voice, even though I knew that caring for my daughter wasn't her responsibility and wasn't within her job scope.
Taylor turned to look at me, just smiling gently, and added, "I understand. Perhaps he doesn't want you to leave again. And I also want to mention that since you left, he has become almost a different person. And the one suffering from depression is not Min, it's him."
I heard that and was extremely surprised but also felt relieved, as long as my daughter was healthy, I didn't care about anything else. "Enzo is the one suffering from depression, not my daughter?"
"Yes. Mrs. seems very pleased when her husband is the one suffering from depression," Taylor said.
I pretended not to notice and instead of feeling pity for Enzo, I felt even more angry because he had used Min to deceive me. The reason I left was because he had cheated on me right in front of my eyes, and he became depressed because I left, which was ironic.
"Can you help me take Min for a comprehensive check-up?" I asked, and Taylor replied with a question, "Why don't you take Min yourself? It would be better."
I remained silent and didn't respond. The reason I kept my distance from my own daughter wasn't because I didn't want to be with her, nor was it because I was too busy to care for her. It was all because I was afraid that Enzo would latch onto any reason to continue controlling me.
Taylor agreed to help, and I was grateful for that, but I also wanted our conversation and the fact that I asked her for help to take Min for a check-up to remain a secret.
