Chapter 55: Chapter 55

Chapter 55

"Hah... that's silly, Enzo. I never demanded or begged for your mercy. Did you forget that you forced me to come back here?" I smiled bitterly and crazily, my mind no longer sober, looking at the man in front of me who looked like a demon, making me disgusted and nauseous.

I was too disappointed in the man before me, there was nothing to hope for from him. I once again pushed his hand away, wanting to run and report this kidnapping to the police.

Before leaving the room, I said to him, "Enzo, if anything happens to Rollo, just cutting a strand of my son's hair will make me hate you to death."

Enzo couldn't stop me from going to the police after the police received the case. I still couldn't feel any peace of mind. I wanted to find Rollo and kill the person who kidnapped my son, but I had no idea who took the boy, what their purpose was, whether it was for ransom or child trafficking, any purpose could harm my son.

I felt like I was sitting on a pile of fire, but no matter what, I couldn't open the door in front of me. I went crazy shouting even though I knew the helpers were just watching and had no intention of helping me. They only listened to Enzo.

"AAAAAAA... Open the door quickly!" I banged on the door in frustration, but the big door did not budge at all, only producing a deafening thud... sound.

Tears kept falling and the feeling of despair and helplessness made my body feel powerless, in my heart, I kept blaming myself for why I chose to come back here, why I let Rollo suffer like this.

In the chaos, Enzo's voice caught my attention, he came over to help me up, but now I only felt hatred and disgust toward him and didn't want him to touch me.

"Don't touch me!" I shouted.

Enzo ignored my words and still insisted on helping me up before saying gloomily, "I have had investigators look into this case, so please rest assured, the police are not investigating as fast as my subordinates are."

I glared at him but remained silent despite his touch. Just as he said, about ten minutes later, a man came in, if I was not mistaken, he was Enzo's assistant. Enzo's assistant and Taylor entered together.

"We have investigated the kidnapper. She's Rika, who used to be a model representing one of the company's products, and was later fired." Taylor said seriously.

At the mention of the name Rika, I was surprised and shouted, "Rika? The one who kidnapped my son is Rika, your lover, Enzo? Enzo, you are despicable!"

Enzo was slightly stunned by my sudden outburst, then rubbed his forehead. In my head, I saw a picture of that night, the night I decided to leave after seeing my husband having an affair with another woman.

Now my son was kidnapped by his lover, I had cried too much and couldn't cry anymore. I looked at Enzo with deep hatred.

"Ha... Enzo, tell me, is this your and her plan?"

Enzo looked at me as if I were a crazy person babbling nonsense. "Flora, don't speak nonsense. I have no reason to do that," Enzo said. But how could I believe him? He had always shown disdain for Rollo and even wanted to ignore my son just because he believed Rollo wasn't his own child and therefore didn't need to care about the boy's life and death. "I don't believe you, you and she must be accomplices in kidnapping my son. Everyone wants to harm my son," I screamed, pointing straight at Enzo's face. I no longer wanted to hear anything he said at this point.

I sat down exhausted and powerless, constantly muttering to myself: "Ha... I'm really insane, I've let my son live with a demon, I'm insane... insane... insane..."

"Flora, I've told you, I have no reason to do this to your son. What do I have to do to earn your trust?" Enzo stood up, interrogating me. His face at this point was very pitiful, but I no longer felt anything.

"The most correct thing I feel about the world is not to trust you, Enzo. Enzo, let me tell you the truth, I'm sure you'll be surprised," I said, but in my heart at this moment, everything was completely empty. I never thought I would have to tell the truth in a situation like this.

Enzo stepped closer to me, and I could see the expectant look in his eyes, "Rollo... Rollo, the kid is your son."

"What? How is that possible?" Enzo looked at me in shock.

I knew he wouldn't believe it, but that didn't matter anymore. Whether Enzo actually admitted Rollo as his own child or not, I had already decided to leave after finding my son.

"Where is Rollo now?" I looked up at the ceiling, feeling more helpless than ever before. I was a useless mother who couldn't even protect her own child.

Enzo ordered Taylor and his assistant to find and bring Rollo back home safely within thirty minutes. Taylor and his assistant received the orders and quickly left. I wanted to go with them, but waiting only made me more insane and irrational.

"You can't go anywhere, Flora," Enzo held tight and kept me there firmly.

I struggled but couldn't break free. My eyes could only look helplessly as the two of them left. I knelt down on the cold, luxurious floor, bowing my head and crying. The room once filled with extravagance and opulence now only had the sound of my sobbing and pain.

Enzo said nothing, which was rare for him. "Okay, get up now. I will take care of this matter completely so that Rollo will not suffer any harm. Flora, listen to me, and don't let Min see you like this." Enzo gently hugged me and helped me into a chair.

My mind was in chaos, unable to think of anything. This incident had shaken me to the core, and I was terrified and worried. I felt even more helpless knowing I couldn't go with Taylor and his assistant to find Rollo. It had only been a few minutes since they left, but it felt like years to me. Fear and anxiety made me feel suffocated and unable to breathe.

"Enzo, I hate you, I hate you, I hate you..." I murmured incoherently in my sleep, and I don't remember when I fell asleep.

When I woke up, I was alone in Enzo's bedroom, and I felt anxious when I remembered. "Rollo... Rollo was kidnapped by his lover, and I have to find him," I said as I stumbled out of bed towards the door.

Before I even touched the door, I heard the voice of a child, which made me shudder because it was Rollo's voice coming from behind the door. I laughed painfully and thought that I had gone crazy with delusions.

When the door opened, Rollo looked up at me with bright eyes and shouted, "Mom! Why did you wake up so late?" I rushed over to hug Rollo tightly, kissing his forehead and face crazily, feeling the warmth from him, and finally realizing that I wasn't hallucinating and the child in front of me was not an illusion.

I trembled, tears flowing uncontrollably as I wept. "Rollo, where did you go? I was very worried about you," I said emotionally.

Rollo put his small hand on my face and tilted his head to ask, "Mom, are you crying? Why are you crying? Today, after school, a woman who said she was Mom's old friend told me to follow her."

"Did she harm you? What did she do to you? Are you hurt anywhere?" I still wasn't relieved, constantly feeling for any scratch on my son's body, fearfully worried about him.

Rollo shook his head innocently. "I'm not hurt at all."

I almost forgot how Enzo could have found Rollo so quickly. Before I could ask, Rollo said, "She led me to a warehouse and said we would play hide-and-seek together. If I could find her and the others, I would receive a prize. I always liked to play that game in class, but..."

"But what?" I asked.

"The game didn't end yet, and Taylor came and took me away," Rollo said in resentment, wanting to stay and play a bit longer.

I hugged Rollo again. Only then did I feel a sense of peace and feel like my life had been saved from hell.

"Let the kid go quickly. You're sick, don't infect him," Enzo's serious tone caught my attention.

I looked at him in confusion and asked, "I'm sick?"

He nodded, pulled Rollo away from me, and said, "Rollo has returned, and that incident has been resolved. Rest quickly, don't infect Min and Rollo."

I raised my left hand, only now realizing that my body was feverish and my breathing was a bit difficult. Every time I spoke, I had to make an effort.

Standing beside him was the family doctor, whom I knew but couldn't recall his name. He spoke calmly and seriously, "Madam, you have a fever, your body is weak, and your mental state is unstable, which caused you to faint. It seems like your workload is too heavy and you shouldn't be overthinking. This is detrimental to your health. You should see that your body is suffering because you are pushing yourself too hard."

Enzo handed Rollo to the maid and rudely pulled me toward the bed. "For now, rest well. We'll talk about Rollo's matters after you wake up. I don't want to talk to a sick person like you."

"But-"

"Don't make my daughter worry about a careless mother like you," Enzo said indifferently.

I remained silent and looked towards the closing door. Before it shut completely, I heard Rollo's cute voice, "Sweet dreams, Mom."
