Chapter 56: Chapter 56

Chapter 56

When I woke up again, I felt much better. Rollo and Min were still playing in the living room, and Enzo was reading as usual, even though the two rowdy children didn't bother him at all. The scene before me suddenly felt unusually peaceful.

Upon seeing me, Enzo grinned and moved toward me in a friendly way that made me uncomfortable, so I stepped back a few paces to avoid his touch.

Enzo hesitated, clearly taken aback by my avoidance. But instead of going berserk and grabbing me, he kept his distance and asked, "How do you feel now?"

"I'm better now, and I want Rollo to get examined," I said, looking over at Rollo, who was still happily playing with Min as though nothing had happened. I didn't want the kid to know what had happened to him.

Enzo shrugged and said, "No need, the doctor already examined him and found no injuries. I also checked his mental state and found no symptoms."

I didn't believe Enzo's assurances at all, and in my eyes, he was no longer a trustworthy person. I walked toward Min and Rollo, and then heard Enzo say, "We'll have the DNA test results tomorrow."

I was surprised to hear that, and perhaps because I had told him that Rollo was his son, that's why he was doing this. But ultimately, the way he did it did not show any trust in Rollo being his son. At this point, whether he recognized Rollo as his son or not was irrelevant to me.

"So what?" I said nonchalantly.

Enzo hesitated, but I knew he was staring at me. I gestured to the maid nearby.

"Take the kids to the room. I want to talk to Enzo alone."

The maid hesitated and looked toward Enzo for instructions, but luckily, he agreed.

After the room became quieter, I began to say what I wanted to say to Enzo.

"Rollo and I will leave here. I'm not asking for your opinion, I'm just telling you my decision." I said sternly.

Some might think I was foolish to make this decision because Enzo would definitely not allow it. If he could easily let me leave like this, he would not have forced me to come back in the first place.

Indeed, as I thought, Enzo frowned, annoyed, and slammed his hand on the table.

"What? I won't allow it. Didn't Rollo get back safely? If you're still angry about that..." Enzo hadn't finished his words. I raised my hand, indicating to him not to say anything more.

It was true that Enzo had done well what he had promised. He said his men would find Rollo first before the police did, and bring him back to safety. But so what? How could I be sure that this wouldn't happen again?

My son's kidnapper turns out to be the lover of the man sitting in front of me, who currently feigns affection and tries to hold on, making me uncomfortable and nauseous. I had thought of many reasons why Enzo wouldn't let me leave him, but I'm sure none of those reasons included "love." "Now, I don't want to be concerned about anything anymore. I'll take Rollo out of here," I firmly stated.

Enzo's face was pale and gloomy. "I won't allow it. I'll solve the woman, who kidnapped Rollo, so don't be angry, okay?"

I looked at Enzo, unsure if I was lucky to see his worried and confused face. But that couldn't touch my heart. "Enzo, what I'm saying isn't asking for your permission to do something. This is my decision. Regardless of tomorrow's outcome, you never had the right to force me to stay by your side. As for Rika, she must face the consequences of the law after kidnapping my son."

I spoke while looking at Enzo's face. "I think maybe you should manage this lover tightly, don't let her cause such bad things again."

At this point, I was sick of Enzo's control and excessiveness. I will take my son and leave this place. "Don't you care about Min, our daughter?" Enzo spoke in a loud voice.

I looked back at Enzo, fatigued and disgusted at him, making me no longer want to continue this conversation. He still uses old tricks to hold me in remorse and regret, but unfortunately, I no longer feel those things. "So what? Will you be powerless to protect our little girl? Then I'll take her with me." I continued talking, noticing Enzo's worried and panicked face.

Maybe he knew there was no longer a last defensive line to keep me with him, but I wasn't comfortable seeing Enzo's worried and panicked face. "I don't want to see you and I don't want to see your lover. If she does anything bad to my son again, I won't spare you and her either," I threatened him. Not really a threat, I will do as I say if that happens again.

"Do you not want to see her anymore, right?" Enzo suddenly asked me a strange question.

I didn't understand his intention, but of course, I didn't want to see someone who kidnapped my son. "Yes…" I said and left the room, facing the dictator and controller like Enzo made me uneasy.

After going upstairs, I prepared clothes and some of my and my son's belongings, ready to leave here. I don't need the job anymore and don't care about contract compensation. "Mommy, where are we going?" Min looked at me puzzled as I was packing.

Faced with the little girl's question, I was no longer moving like before. Enzo probably told her that I was leaving and let Min persuade me. But no matter what she does, I no longer have any emotions. Perhaps the kidnapping of Rollo by Enzo's lover was my limit.

"I and Rollo will leave here," I responded apathetically.

Min looked at me with teary eyes, screaming and crying, not letting me leave. As my body was still not fully recovered, I felt a little disoriented when the child hugged me. I knelt down and said to Min:

"Min, Mom knows you know everything, but I can't bear another second here. Rollo and I need a better life like this. Min, I'm sorry, but even without me, you must live well and obey your father."

"I don't want to!" Min screamed.

But no matter how much the child cried, I wouldn't change my decision. Being with Enzo only made me more exhausted and miserable. He had a lover and she had kidnapped my son. I couldn't be sure that something similar would not happen in the future.

After packing, I took Rollo with me.

"Where are we going?" Rollo was still naive and unaware of what had happened to the little boy.

I remained silent, showing no emotion. The child did not ask any further. The maid saw me leading Rollo and hurriedly intervened.

"Please...madam...madam...please calm down...the boss will come back soon so please be patient." She said.

"I have nothing to say to him anymore, so there is no need to wait for him to come back. Open the door quickly," I said seriously. Looking at the fearful appearance of the maid, I couldn't guess what Enzo was going to do.

The DNA test results would be delivered tomorrow. Perhaps at that time, even if he didn't want to believe Rollo was his son, he would be forced to believe it.

I didn't talk to the maid anymore because it was meaningless when all she could say was "please...please" boringly.

I suddenly remembered someone who could help and returned to the room to call Roy. At this point, the only person who could help me was Roy because I couldn't think of anyone else.

Roy quickly answered the call as if he had been waiting for me to call.

[Flora, why did you just call me now? I couldn't contact you at all.] Roy said urgently.

I just chuckled slightly because I knew Enzo had done something to prevent Roy from contacting me.

"Roy...help me, I want to leave here, you come to Enzo's mansion."

Before I could finish my sentence, Roy firmly said, [Okay, wait for me.]

Rollo stared at me. I knew he was curious, but I was too exhausted to explain everything to him. Maybe for the child, knowing as little as possible would be better and not knowing anything would be even better.

I suddenly thought of something and asked Rollo, "Rollo, do you want to leave here?"

Rollo hesitated for a moment before answering me. "I don't...don't want to leave here."

I was a bit surprised. Had the little guy forgotten how Enzo treated him? I didn't think he would forget so quickly.

"What made you change your mind? Didn't you always want to leave here?" I asked.

Rollo avoided my gaze, looking embarrassed for a moment before answering. "I...I want to stay here...because of Min. She is very good to me. We have fun playing together. I don't like the man, but..."

"But what?" I asked. I really wanted to know the reason why my little guy didn't want to leave, just because of Min.

"The man makes me feel more attached," Rollo lowered his head, his voice getting smaller as if intentionally trying not to be heard. But with that volume, I still heard it and was surprised that Rollo didn't hate Enzo, even though he had always seemed to stay away from him before.

I rubbed Rollo's head, and I didn't want him to hate his own father. After leaving here, I wouldn't prevent Rollo from seeing Enzo and vice versa.

After a while, Roy was standing in front of the villa's gate, blocked by the guards, so he couldn't move. From the room across the window, I could see his urgency and concern for me and Rollo.

I walked down to the lobby again, and the housekeeper was there to stop us from leaving. I came up with a way to make them have to open the door.

"I'll say it again, quickly open the door," I said loudly.

The two maids avoided my gaze and looked at each other. One of them spoke up hesitantly and embarrassedly, "Sorry, we can't disobey the owner's orders. Please wait for the owner to come back."

"I don't want to wait for him to come back. If you don't open the door..." I narrowed my eyes, looking at their confused faces.

From my coat pocket, I pulled out a small knife. Their faces were shocked, and when I brought the knife closer to my neck, they paled and tried to stop me but didn't dare to come close.

"AAAAA...please don't do this...we...we really can't disobey the owner's orders, or we will be punished to death."

But I didn't care about their worries and fears. I knew very well that if I left now, Enzo would definitely be furious and punish those 'helpers' of mine.

I held the knife closer to my skin, feeling the cut but I remained cold and calm, as if at this moment, I was ready to die. The two housekeepers were so scared that tears were streaming down their faces, and they quickly opened the door as I told them to.

"Please calm down, we'll let you go...please don't tell the owner...we don't want to die yet..."

I slightly smiled, looking at the scenery behind the door and feeling as if I had finally been set free. I watched the two maids huddled together and said, "I don't want to die either... don't worry, I won't tell Enzo about this." They nodded quickly and ran away.

Rollo looked at the bloodstain on my neck, crying, which made me feel both sad and amused at the same time. I hurriedly comforted him, "Don't cry, son. It's not Mommy's blood, just tomato sauce."

"Really?" Rollo asked, not believing me.

I nodded and wiped it away with a napkin. I didn't feel like explaining everything to Rollo, so I took him directly out the gate. Roy saw Rollo and me running towards him, and he hugged us tightly. I felt the warmth and concern from Roy. We looked like a couple who had been apart for a long time.

"Let's go. Enzo will be back soon," I said.

Roy helped us pack and carefully fastened our seat belts. He then asked, "Isn't he inside? How did you manage to escape?"

"I threatened the maids. It seems that before Enzo left, he ordered them to keep an eye on me." I shrugged. They were loyal to their master, but I was sure they didn't have the guts to watch me get hurt.

Roy didn't ask any further and said, "Now, I will take you and Rollo to my house first. You both need to rest."

I nodded. In recent days, I had been under too much pressure, and Rollo's kidnapping had shattered my mind. Now, I needed to recover.
