Chapter 54: Chapter 54

Chapter 54

Min's attitude towards Rollo has improved, which exceeds my expectations. I've always been worried that Min would not accept her younger brother and that Rollo would feel left out when with Min. It was only when I saw my two children laughing and playing with each other that I could forget about the difficulties and pressures of the present.

Enzo, on the other hand, has maintained his cold attitude towards Rollo, and I never expected him to accept and love Rollo. Suddenly, I felt remorseful and uneasy, knowing that Enzo does not accept Rollo because he believes the boy isn't his son, and I haven't explained the situation. I worried that if Rollo finds out, he might hate me forever because of my selfishness.

Min wants Rollo to attend the same school as her, and I was delighted to hear this. But my joy was short-lived as Enzo immediately refused, sternly saying, "No, Min. He needs to know his place and where that boy belongs. You and he are not the same."

Min was a little disappointed, which was rare as her father usually granted any request she made due to being spoiled. However, because of this, Min developed a competitive streak and wanted to win even more. She also grew very fond of her little brother.

I knew that Enzo did not like Rollo for that reason, but the boy's education could not be interrupted. "Why not? Rollo also needs an education," I said.

Enzo looked at me with an icy and annoyed gaze, not only because of my mentioning Rollo but also any man. Rollo, feeling sorry for himself, hid behind me and only peeked a little.

"Don't joke around, Flora. Tell me why I should accept him attending the same school as Min?" Enzo sneered.

I immediately became tongue-tied. I couldn't tell him that Rollo is his son, a fact I wanted to keep a secret to the grave. Yet, I didn't have a valid reason to answer Enzo's question. Truthfully, I could have allowed Rollo to attend another school that wasn't necessarily the same as Min's.

However, what's essential was that I wanted to improve Min and Rollo's relationship, and I also shared Min's opinion of wanting Rollo to attend the same school as her from the beginning. It was not my idea.

"What's wrong? Can't answer me, Flora? Although he's your son, it doesn't mean he can inherit everything that is equal to Min's." Enzo spoke seriously.

Enzo's words weren't wrong, and I remained silent, unable to say anything. The school Min attended had expensive tuition fees, and I couldn't afford to pay such a large sum of money for Rollo's education. The atmosphere suddenly became silent and gloomy, but it was only Min's clear voice that broke the mood.

"But I want him to go to school with me, Dad. If you won't let him, then I won't go to school either." Min firmly stated.

Enzo frowned. His facial expression was serious, but his tone was much gentler when speaking to Min. "Min, that's not possible. I can't allow it."

"AAAAAAA! You must agree, I want it that way, I want Rollo to go to school with me." Min suddenly rolled on the floor and flailed.

I had never seen Min behave so dramatically before. Currently, Min is the young lady and heir of the clan, so such a personality is natural, but I was a bit surprised when Min acted so chaotically just to study with Rollo.

But Enzo did not accept this, no matter how much Min acted out, I had to reassure her that they could still meet at home, it wasn't necessary to attend the same school.

I always felt uneasy and sad since Enzo forced me to return, Rollo has suffered a lot of annoyance by being with me despite being just an innocent child, but I can clearly see Enzo's discriminatory treatment towards Min and Rollo.

He completely ignored Rollo. If Enzo saw me paying too much attention to Rollo, he would get angry. Sometimes, I worry so much that I dream that Enzo intends to harm Rollo. Every time I wake up from such a nightmare, I am startled and frightened. I want to tell Enzo that Rollo is his son, so he should stop treating him unfairly, but during the chaos, I can't bring myself to do it.

Because Rollo's school is quite far from home, I cannot regularly take him to and from school. I asked the driver who usually takes Min to school to pick up my son as well, but he refused immediately.

"Sorry, I can't do that." I didn't understand why he would refuse so decisively. I could pay him more.

He avoided my question and my eyes, only then speaking in a stutter: "That's true, but these are two different things. I work for Mr. Enzo, everything must go through his approval before I can do it."

I sighed, it was all clear now. I won't make things difficult for him anymore. Therefore, I had to go to Rollo's school to pick him up myself, sometimes causing me to be late and making him fall asleep on a bench in the corridor.

"Can you ask the driver to take my son to school?" I said to Enzo. I didn't expect him to agree to this.

As predicted, Enzo frowned and didn't look at me. "No!"

I didn't say anything else and silently left the room, thinking of moving to another place to live just with my son. Not because Enzo refused to let the driver take Rollo to school but because my son had suffered a lot of discrimination and neglect from Enzo and the maid during our time here. In fact, neither Rollo nor I were suitable to live here.

As usual, I didn't go straight home but went to school to pick up Rollo instead. However, I waited a long time but didn't see him anywhere. Until the other children had been picked up by their parents, my son still hadn't appeared. I felt something was wrong and began to worry.

His teacher was quite surprised to see me. Before I asked about Rollo, she said, "Rollo's mother, why are you here? Rollo has already been picked up."

"What? But... How?" I was shocked to hear her say that. Suddenly, I remembered telling Enzo yesterday, had he changed his mind?

But deep down inside, I still felt uneasy. I called Enzo but he didn't answer, I tried to call the assistants and Taylor but no one picked up. I couldn't stay at Rollo's school any longer and immediately went back home.

As soon as I pulled into the driveway, I urgently called out my son's name. "Rollo, Rollo, Rollo...where are you?" Enzo came out, annoyed, and frowned at me. "Didn't you pick him up already? Don't shout like a crazy person."

"What? Didn't you tell the driver to pick him up?" I was confused by his words.

Enzo looked suspiciously at me, but still calmly watched me panic. In the midst of my confusion, Enzo called someone. "Investigate Rollo's school, see who took him away," I heard him say. I anxiously waited for Enzo to finish the call.

"What happened? Where's Rollo?" I looked at Enzo urgently.

"According to the school's camera, your son was taken away by a strange woman, dressed in a modest way, before you arrived," he said.

I widened my eyes, surprised. I had not seen any of my friends since I returned to the country. In my state of confusion, Enzo's words made me panic and despair. "It seems like your son has been kidnapped, Flora," he said nonchalantly.

"What are you talking about? How can that be?" My tears couldn't help but fall. I couldn't believe Enzo could say such terrible things.

In my panic, I couldn't think of anything else and stumbled towards the door but Enzo held me back. "Where do you want to go now?" he asked.

I couldn't care about anything else but my son. He was being kidnapped by a stranger and I was still here. I pushed Enzo's hands away. "Are you insane? Rollo has been kidnapped, I have to find him. If anything happens to him, I won't be able to go on living." I screamed like a crazy person.

But even though I cried out to find Rollo, Enzo still refused to let me go. He held me tightly and dragged me into the room, giving orders.

"Close all the doors for me, immediately!"

I looked at the door in front of me, which was closed by the housekeeper. I suddenly felt like everything was fading away, and I was losing hope. My mind was torn apart, and I screamed and struggled desperately to break free from Enzo's grip, but no matter how hard I tried to shout and thrash wildly, I couldn't escape from Enzo. I could only look at the closed door in despair.

"AAAAAAA! Let me go quickly, I have to find my son! You bastard! Let go of me, you bastard!" I shouted in frustration. I've never felt so close to death before.

Enzo tightened his grip on my shoulder and sternly looked at me, saying: "Stop causing chaos. You have to be calm to solve everything."

At this moment, all the anger and annoyance that I had suppressed exploded. I yelled at him:

"You say to be calm? How can I be calm when my son is kidnapped? Why can you be so calm and collected?"

Enzo looked at me for a long time before speaking. His words were like a sharp knife stabbing straight into my heart. This wasn't the first time he had hurt me, but at this moment when my son was kidnapped, he said:

"That kid isn't my son, so why should I worry like you? If it wasn't for its appearance, I wouldn't be so angry."

As soon as he finished speaking, I slapped him hard, causing him to stagger and back away. I stood up, looked at him with anger, and couldn't believe Enzo could be so callous.

"Enzo, I am so disappointed in you. I used to think that Rollo and I could live well here. You always treated that boy differently because you thought he wasn't your son. I didn't pay attention to that, but now he's been kidnapped by a stranger and you can say such cruel words. Enzo, are you even human?" I screamed in despair and madness.

Enzo frowned and looked at me, not admitting his callousness.

"Then you tell me why I should care about that kid? I didn't kick him out, which was already too compassionate. Flora, don't ask for my compassion." Enzo firmly grasped my arm and spoke loudly.
