Chapter 93: Chapter 93
Winter's POV
I could still feel my body aching when I woke up. Slowly, I opened my eyes and the first person I saw was Elisse and Ian who looked so worried about me.
"Winter! You're finally alright! Oh, God!"
"Miss Winter! We were so worried about you!"
All of a sudden, the door went open and grandpa together with Summer and some bodyguards entered the room. Even if I don't ask them, I know we were at a hospital. I sat up on the bed and hugged grandpa.
"Oh, Winter... I'm so glad you're fine..."
"I'm alright now, grandpa. Don't worry about me too much..."
"Winter, I was so worried about you. I really don't know what I would do if something bad ever happens to you." Summer then said to me while obviously faking the worried look on her face.
I looked around the room before looking at them again. "Where's Matthew?"
"He's in the other room." said grandpa.
"Don't worry about him now, Winter. Worry about yourself. The doctor said that you didn't get something serious, but you need to at least have three days to take some rest." Ian told me.
"How about Matthew? Is he alright? How is he? I want to see him."
"He's alright now, Winter. He just had some bruises and wounds. Also, his left arm got hit by a chair, so he'll have to wear a cast for at least a week."
I couldn't help but feel worried about him. Matthew was the one who saved me from those bad guys, he even had to fight with at least fifteen men by himself just to save me.
"Also, about the people who kidnapped you. We found out that it was Mr. Peterson, one of the members of Royal group of companies. He thought of abducting you so he could force me to go down from my position. Now, he's no longer a member of Royal. I would also hire some bodyguards to guard each of you wherever you go so incidents like this won't ever happen again."
"Thank you, grandpa... That man should really be punished. He really thought he would be able to succeed with his dirty plans."
Grandpa smiled at me and patted my head. "Don't worry about him now. I already asked some men to handle those things about him."
"Can I see Matthew? Please, I just want to make sure he's okay."
In the end, they had no choice but to guide me to Matthew's room. Belle was the one who opened the door for us.
"W-Winter, you're finally alright. I'm so glad you're okay."
"T-Thanks. By the way, how's Matthew?"
"He's still sleeping."
"Can I talk to him for a while?"
She nodded her head. "Of course."
With that, all of them stayed outside as I stepped inside the room and closed the door behind me. I saw Matthew sleeping on the hospital bed with a cast on his left arm. The bruises on his face were still evident and I couldn't help but feel guilty. I sat on the chair beside his bed and I looked at his face.
For sure he got so hurt when that man hit him with that wooden chair, and also when three men tried to fight with him. But then until the last man who was about to fight with him, stayed beside me and protected me.
"Why are you doing all those things that would only make me fall in love with you even more?" I mumbled as tears started filling my eyes.
If Matthew didn't appear, then I don't know what else those men could do to me.
I got surprised when Matthew suddenly opened his eyes. He turned his head to me and got surprised.
"W-Winter."
I forced a smile on my face as I looked into his eyes. "You're finally awake. Does it hurt somewhere? Do you want to eat something? How are you feeling?"
Matthew stared at me for a while. Then suddenly, he pulled me close to him and hugged me tightly.
"I'm so glad that you're safe now... I really thought I would lose you..." he whispered.
I could feel the sincerity and worry from his voice. With that, I couldn't help but feel sorry for him. I hugged him back. "I'm sorry if I got mad at you, Matthew... I'm so sorry if I was so childish... I owe my life to you... If you didn't come and save me, then maybe I'm dead now..."
He gently moved away from me and wiped the tears from my eyes. "Don't say those things. That will never happen. No matter what happens, I will always look for you."
I didn't know what he meant about that, but those words brought warmth to my heart and made me feel so safe.
"You'll have to use that cast for three weeks, right?" I asked him, pointing to his left arm.
"Yeah. But it's alright. I can use my other arm, though. Also, my lower wasn't injured, so I can still walk."
I pouted. "I can't help blaming myself for what happened. Why did you even go there alone in the first place?! What if they defeated you? What do you think could have happened to you?!"
"I didn't think about that anymore. All I cared about was to save you, I don't care whether they're larger in number or what. Your life is what really matters to me."
Hearing those words from him immediately made my whole face feel so hot. Matthew probably realized what he just told me too, his ears turned bright red until it also reached his face.
We both averted our gaze from one another and silence enveloped us for a moment.
Why do I suddenly feel embarrassed? My safety is the most important to him? Why is that? Why am I so important to him? Why was he so worried about me?
I wanted to ask him those things, but I guess that wasn't the right time to do so.
