Belle's POV

I just got some food and was about to bring it to Themis when I passed by the glass window of his room. I saw him hugging Winter so tightly with his eyes closed as if he really longed for her.

Seeing them like that immediately caused my chest to tighten. The worry on Themis's face when Winter disappeared. It was the same look he gave me before whenever I get into trouble. The look that he will never show me again.

"You like him, right?"

I almost dropped the tray of food when Ian suddenly appeared from behind me. I averted my gaze from him, and I was about to leave, but then he spoke again.

"I've been loving Winter for so many years now. I've been loving her since we were just kids. It's funny how she's been in love with different guys except me. When her first love left, I thought I would already have the chance, but this asshole came." he said while looking straight at Themis who was talking to Winter.

"Why are you saying these things to me?"

He looked at me and smiled. "Because I know you love Matthew, and you're willing to do everything just for him not to end up with Winter. I'm saying this because I want you to let him go and be with Winter. If you truly love him, then you should be happy for him."

"You don't even know about me, so you don't have the right to tell me what to do. Mind your own business."

After saying that to him, I started walking away again and left him there.

Does he even know what he was saying?

He doesn't know me, and so he doesn't know Matthew is, either. He doesn't even know that Matthew is just using that woman for his revenge.

Winter's POV

"Oh, Elisse. I missed you so much. I really thought I wouldn't be able to see you again." I said as I hugged Elisse tightly. We were still inside Matthew's hospital room while having our lunch.

Elisse then looked at me with a smile on her face. "Me too, Miss Winter. I thought I would lose you too..."

"Oh, Elisse.."

"That will never happen again. Next time, I'll make sure to go with you wherever you go." Matthew suddenly said.

I pouted. "That only means Elisse and I could no longer have a girls' night out?"

"Well, you can still do that. But I will accompany you."

"It's not a girls' night out with you in there."

Matthew just shrugged as he tried to hold the fork using his right hand, but he failed.

"You're a left-handed, right? It would be hard for you to eat using your right hand."

"N-No, it's alright. I can do it."

I drank some water and wiped my mouth with a napkin before grabbing his spoon from him. "I'll feed you. Just stay still and eat."

His eyes widened in surprise. I could see how his ears turned bright red as I held the spoon in front of him.

"W-Winter, you don't have to do it. I can eat—

"Just eat."

Before he could even continue what he was saying, I already shoved the food into his mouth. Because of that, Elisse and I couldn't stop laughing while looking at Matthew who was munching like a kid.

"You need to eat all of these so you could have the energy to work again. And also, I have already told grandpa that you're not going to go to work for at least one week."

"W-What? Winter--

"The doctor said you need to have some rest, Matthew. If you force yourself, then it would be much harder for you to recover."

"But I didn't get shot or anything, I still can go to work.

I shook my head. "No, you're not. Not when you're fully recovered."

"Can we make it at least after two days?"

"The doctor said one week, Matthew. Not two days."

"But I don't think I can just lie down for a week without doing anything."

I heaved a sigh. "Fine. After five days. But you have to eat this all up and don't have a leftover, or else I'll ask the doctor to make it even longer."

"I can eat all of it." he said as he shove the dumpling right into his mouth and started eating the other dishes too.

I couldn't help but smile while looking at him eat. This work-freak man can't really last a da without working.

Anyway, seeing them like this. Together with Elisse, I am now more thankful that I made it and I was saved by Matthew. I don't think I can afford not to see the two of them again. The family that the three of us made together.

Suddenly, we heard a knock on the door.

"Come in."

As the door opened, Belle stepped in, bringing some fruits with her. She smiled at Matthew and also at me. Since I know what her silence means, I stood up and held Elisse's hand. "We'll just go out for a while."

"Okay."

As soon as I closed the door behind me, I heaved a deep sigh. I almost forgot that Matthew already has a girlfriend, and that is none other than Belle. He also said her name the night before when he got so drunk and kissed me. Belle is the woman he loves, and I can't get mad at him for that.

And he's a good man. He deserves all the good things in this world.

"Uncle Ian!"

I got surprised when Ian suddenly appeared and sat beside me. "Why are you here outside?"

"Matthew and Belle are having a conversation."

"And.. you're jealous?"

I looked at him with widened eyes. "W-What? And why would I get jealous?"

"Because Matthew is your husband. It's natural for you to be jealous."

"Matthew is just my husband on papers. He loves Belle, and I can't do anything about that."

"Are you sure?"

My brows furrowed at him. "W-What do you mean?"

"I mean, are you sure that she's the one that your husband loves?"

"Ian."

"Winter, why do you think Matthew would sacrifice his own life just to save you? Why was he so worried about you?"

"B-Because he's a good man. He cares about everyone. Ian, I know you'e just saying these things to make me feel better, but I already know the truth. And I know that Belle, is the woman that Matthew loves."

He shook his head and looked at me again. "Then why don't you ask him personally? Why don't you ask Matthew about his real feelings towards you?"
