Chapter 101: Chapter 101

Themis' POV

It was already ten in the evening when I got home. Elisse was already asleep while Winter was probably taking a half bath. She usually does that before going to sleep. I wasn't also able to fetch her from work since I had a lot of meetings to attend to. I had to finish all the pending jobs I have left when my arm got injured.

I just decided to change my clothes before heading to the kitchen again to make some coffee. I still have lots of paperwork to do, so I decided to bring some of them at home. Winter said she's going to a talk show next week, and I want to be the one to accompany her there.

"Pumpkin?"

I put the cup of coffee down on the island and turned around to see Winter who was already wearing her pajamas. I smiled upon seeing her. "Hello, there. Want some coffee?"

She stared at my face with her eyes blinking. She was pouting as she started walking over to me. "I missed you so much..."

"Me too."

Winter stretched her arms lunged at me. I didn't expect her to do that, but good thing I was able to get a hold of her in my arms. I patted her back as he hugged me even tighter.

"Are you tired?" I asked her.

She nodded her head. "Uhmm..."

"Do you want some milk?"

"Uhm."

I smiled. I was about to gently move her away from me so I could get her some hot milk, but she refused to let go of me. "How can I get you some milk if you won't let go of me?"

"You can get some without me having to let go of you..." she whispered.

"Alright then."

With that, I lifted her up like a koala hugging me tightly. "I didn't know you're this heavy." I kidded.

"W-What? Are you saying that I'm fat?!"

"Well, I didn't say anything like that."

She raised her head and tried to push me away, but I held her even tighter. "Come on, just let me down if you think I'm heavy."

"I'm just kidding. You're as light as leaf. You should eat more."

"You're just saying that for me not to be mad at you."

I gently pushed her head for her to rest it on my shoulder again. "Just stay there as I prepare your milk."

"You're such a tease. Jerk."

After a minute, I poured the hot milk on a glass and gently tapped Winter on her shoulder. "It's all ready now. Want to drink some?"

She just nodded her head and raised her head while her arms were still around my shoulders. I held the glass of milk and made her drink it like a kid.

"How does it taste?"

"It's delicious." she smiled.

I put the glass down for a while and grabbed a napkin then I wiped her mouth with that. She was able to drink all the milk.

"Should I bring you to your room?" I asked her.

"Bring me to your room."

"Huh?"

"I want to accompany you as you do your paperwork."

"But..." I heaved a sigh. "Alright, let's go there."

I carried her in my arms until we reached my room. I sat at my desk with Winter sitting on my lap, facing my direction and still hugging me like a baby.

"Will you be comfortable in that position?" I asked her.

She nodded her head and hugged me even tighter as if she didn't want to let go of me anytime. I brushed her hair using my fingers before I decided to begin doing my paperwork.

The paperwork I brought home was too many that I was able to finish all of them at exactly 12 midnight. I could already hear Winter's soft snore on my shoulder.

I gently stood up and just carried her in bridal style as I stepped out of my room and brought her to hers. I gently placed her on her bed and tucked her in.

I even decided to stay beside her for a while just to stare at her face.

'So, when are you going to tell her about your real identity?'

That was what Belle asked me this morning.

I just shrugged. "I'm going to tell it to her, but when everything's already alright. I don't want to drag her into my plan. I don't want her to get involved."

"But the moment you agreed on having a relationship with her, she's already involved. You can't hide everything from her forever."

"I know that. But I want to protect her, I don't want to make everything complicated for her.".

"If she loves you, then she would understand you."

I heaved a deep sigh. "It's just not the right time yet. I'm waiting for the right time. I will eventually tell it to her."

"That's good to hear then. Also, just because you're already in a relationship with her already means you can do whatever you want. You still need to keep your guards up all the time."

"Thank you for reminding me, Belle. I'll make sure not to forget about the main reason why I went here in the first place. I will never forget about that. I won't put Timothy's efforts into waste."

Belle nodded her head and averted her gaze. "That's good to hear then."

I kissed Winter on her forehead and stared at her face again. "I know we kept a promise that we will never hide anything from each other, but I'm just doing it for us... Please just trust me..."

After turning off her night lamp, I walked out of her room and decided to go to sleep.

If I tell her everything now, I'm afraid she would be shocked and get mad at me. She's my only rest, and the only one that reminds me there is something beautiful that happened to me. I don't ever want to lose her.
