Jackson Point Of View

To my surprise, Chloe is going into her apartment all alone. With the news of the Alpha dying, I figured she would be with her new man planning her wedding. Something must have gone wrong for her. Boo Hoo, Poor pitiful Chloe, always the victim.

I watch her as she walks into the building. I will have to wait for the guard shift to change, and maybe I can squeak past them. Sitting in the car, Jessie loaned me I have plenty of time to waste. The cops are busy looking for Jessie, not me. She was wise to put herself on the radar and make them forget about me for a while. Maybe Cane is not entirely worthless.

Someone pecks on the window. Damn. "Excuse me, sir, why are you here?" a man asks me. I look over his uniform. He is the building security.

I smile at him. "Axel sent me to watch over Chloe. He is a little busy right now with his family," I say. The young security guard does not recognize me, and if he does, he does not let on that he does.

"If you want to come into the building where it is cooler, feel free," the security guard says.

Well, well, well, look who just got an invite into the building? "Sure, I would love to come in. Axel, did not say I had to stay outside, but I did not want to interfere with the building security," I say calmly.

I follow the building security into Chloe's building. The two men working and I exchanged small talk. They told me all about the drama with Jessie earlier in the day and how the Alpha's father had died, but nothing about a wedding or funeral, nothing. Something is up.

"You guys mind if I check Chloe's floor, just so I can report back to Alpha Axel that everything is okay, and then I will be on my way until the next wolf shows up?" I ask.

Trevor, the slender of the two building security guards, smiled and volunteered to show me around. "Come on, I will show you her floor, and we can check in on her together," Trevor says.

I follow Trevor into the elevator, and he pushes the button for security and enters a code to operate the elevator without a keycard. "If you ever come without the Alpha and we are busy, just enter 99815562 to operate the elevator. I am sure Alpha Axel will not mind me giving it to you," Trevor says.

No, sir, I am sure he will have your head on a stick by the time he finds out I have my Chloe back and have taken her away from Shadow Creek. Trevor and I get off the elevator and walk down the hall to check things out. We walk past one apartment, and he points at it. "That is her right there. It is pretty quiet. We never hear a peep out of her," Trevor says.

"Until now," I say. Trevor tuns as I leap into the air taking my wolf form. Trevor does not stand a chance against me. I bury my claws into him, tearing into him until he stops moving. I can hear him breathing, but it will not be long until he dies. I have to get to Chloe. I step over his body and punch through the door to Chloe's apartment. I growl and howl as I push through the door.

"CHLOE!" I growl loudly.

I do not hear anything coming from behind her door. I push through the door, still in my wolf form, and growl as I sniff the air looking for her. "CHLOE!" I growl again.

Nothing, not a sound as I rummage through the apartment, looking for her. I cannot smell her, not a scent, nothing that reminds me of her. I turn to leave the apartment, realizing I was set up, but by who? Not Jessie or Cane?

"Jackson!" I hear someone growling.

Several wolves are coming my way, growling and ready to fight. Trevor is missing from the hallway. It is Axel and his men. "She is mine, Axel," I growl at him.

"No, she is not, and I will kill you before I allow you near her," Axel growls.

Axel's wolves begin to attack me. I push back as they rip into my fur, pulling at my body and forcing me back into my human form. The elevator dings, and I smell her.

"I try to stop her," I hear someone yell.

"Get back, Chloe," Axel growls.

Chloe runs to Axel, taking her wolf form. I did not know she could do that. Her wolf is awake, and her wolf wants Axel. Why? Why doesn't she love me? I gave her everything. I pull myself to my feet.

"I love you, Chloe," I growl at her hoarsely. My half human, half wolf growl. I am trying to shift, but I am too injured to change into my wolf form.

"No, you want to control me; you came here to kidnap me, or kill me, or worse; why are you here?" she growls at me.

I struggle to stand on my feet. I move closer to her with the protest of Axel and his wolves. "I came to take you home with me, to be mine. You belong to me," I say to her. I fall at her feet.

Chloe leans down to me. "I belong to myself," Chloe says.

Chloe kicks me in the face. I can see her as she moves toward the elevator, leaving me to my fate. She is so beautiful in her wolf form. She stops for a moment. Our eyes meet. "Do not leave me," I beg her.

She looks at Axel. "Kill him," Chloe growls. She shifts back into her human form as she enters the elevator.

I look up to see paws. Alpha Axel and his wolves begin digging their claws into my body. Everything faded to black as I die. "CHLOE!" I scream one last time.
