"Are you sure?" His brows arched while his eyes turned deeply.
He's a little upset at her denial because he noticed her shocking face a few seconds ago when he asked that question. It means she remembered him. Then why did she just lie?
Rebecca felt nervous for a moment. He is the man who saved her in her miserable time but she just refused to not remember him. She felt embarrassed.
Did he just try to confirm from her if she remembered him or not? Or is he truly just asking out of curiosity?
Her mind filled at this moment in chaos. She already replied 'No'. Now if she tries to repent it.
It only makes things worse with her new boss and she doesn't want it. Because this job is so important for her.
After hesitating for a long time, finally she answered.
"Yes! Absolutely Sir!" She tried to show a fake smile.
Edwin's eyes filled with mixed feelings. His face turned stiff.
Rebecca also noticed his changing mood reaction and felt awkward at this moment.
"Miss Rebecca! I think your memory is not as sharp as I thought!" His voice turned serious.
Rebecca becomes rigid in her place.
"What do you mean sir?" She tried to look calm and smile but it never reached her eyes.
Seeing her silly reaction, he felt she's cute. The way she's trying to hide her lie. It's just like a child who made a mistake and now wants to hide it. Thinking this he smiled which can't be seen by her.
If she's someone else he will never get affected. But she's not a random person but his woman, who has his heart already and can turn his anger, cool without even doing anything.
Rebecca silently looked at him like a child who did something wrong. While he wanted to tease her so, he stood from the chair and tucked his suit's two open buttons elegantly while he steps towards her next moment.
Rebecca's eyes never left his stare while she felt in this moment. He already remembered her. His steps already came towards her which made her heart beat fast. She started to think that if it's going like this she will get a heart attack for sure.
He noticed every single reaction on her face and felt a little happy. His mood turned a little better even after her rejection to remember him.
He stopped on his way when he was just a few steps away from her.
Rebecca went backward nervously. This whole situation is turning unusual.
"Miss Rebecca, I thought at least you will be glad to see me again after our bar night interaction! But my guess was wrong, you just denied remembering your savior." His lips curled up on the corner while something flashed on his eyes.
Rebecca's eyes became enlarged with almost shock while her mouth hung half-open. Her eyes meet his playful eyes.
Her cheeks are already heating with embarrassment at this moment. He remembered her but she denied him in just words.
She wanted to dig a hole at this moment and hide herself.
What if he fired her? Suddenly, this thought made her shiver.
Seeing her shocked and silent. He raised his voice a little but there is still calmness.
"Miss Rebecca! Are you not going to explain yourself?" His other sentence hit her weak place.
"Huh?" She felt more awkward.
"You refused to remember me when I thought you would thank me and remember your last words on that night when you told me that you will be grateful to me with your life!" His voice was just like whispering in her ears but his words hold the great power to make her face turn red.
She felt speechless after hearing him. Yes, she said those words and finally regretted telling a lie to him at this moment when she should thank him even if he still did not remember her. She should be grateful to him because he is her savior.
"Sir...Iā¦" She wanted to explain but he cut her words before she could start.
"Call me Mr.Edwin!" His eyes never left her face.
"Huh!" She blinked her eyes and looked at him.
He stares at her deeply. While their eyes collided with each other.
"Call me with my name!" His voice turned soft.
Rebecca felt mixed feelings to hear his soft tone. But she can't refuse his simple order.
"Mr.Edwin!" She finally took his name while her face was reddening.
"That sounds good!" He nodded and smiled.
Her heart tugged at this moment to see his smile. His features turned sharper whenever he smiled.
Seeing his effect on herself, she retreated her gaze from him. And tried to explain to herself.
"Mr.Edwin, I truly apologize to you for my lies."
"I didn't mean to lie at first but I thought you don't remember me!" This is what she believed.
Edwin felt the more he looked at her, the more he wanted to get close to her and make her his.
But he still needs to go a long way for that moment. He knew he affected her just like she did to him but there is a big path between them which he needs to cross patiently.
"Miss Rebecca, I'll accept your apologies on one condition!" He looked at her with playful eyes.
Rebecca blinked her eyes and nodded in agreement because she's at fault.
"You will fulfill my one request! No matter what I want or need!" His words look simple but make Rebecca stunned.
She doesn't know what he would be asked from her? But she was at a loss so all she could do was agree.
"I agree!" She responded.
Edwin felt happy but tried to look calm.
"Alright then! I accept your apology!" Edwin said while Rebecca sighed finally in her heart.
Edwin turned back to sit back on his chair.
"You may leave now!" He instructed between his steps.
Rebecca looked at his back with amazement.
"Mr.Edwin, but you didn't tell me your request?" Her voice filled with hesitation.
Edwin chuckled before turning to her with a calm expression.
"Miss Rebecca, there is no request for now! So, you can leave!" Edwin's corner lips raised.
Rebecca's eyelashes flickered to hear him and the next second without any delay she just left the cabin after a nod while her face flushed.
Edwin's smile turned wide to see her blushing self.
