Chapter 196: Chapter 196

"Julia, I don't think it's the right time now…" Rebecca felt hesitant. As her lips were almost tightly sealed after giving that statement.

However, Julia didn't agree with her and tried to motivate her.

"But it is the right time. Now you are both together as a parent. So, why not just go together? I think he will be happy to get this invitation."

Rebecca paused to hear her friend's words. As she also approves of her.

"I guess, you are right."

As soon as she said that, Julia's lips curled up with the victory.

"So, do you agree to let him come? She asked, to which Rebecca lightly nodded but still she got one question in her mind.

"But how should I do that?" She questioned.

"Call him now. I believe he will be glad to hear that."

"Julia, I…I…don't think…" Rebecca wanted to think one more time about her decision. She's not 100% sure.

However, before she could finish her words, Julia interrupted her.

"There is no 'But'."

"You can't go back on your words."

"You promised me." She warned her.

"Julia?" Rebecca flickered.

"Argued with me and I'll change my mind not to go back home."

Rebecca felt incapable of listening to her and was finally ready to agree with her.

"Alright, you don't need to change your mind. I'll call him. But you are going home." Rebecca wanted to be assured.

"Great!" Julia claps her hands.

"Now, that's my babe! And don't worry, I'll go." She wrapped her hand around her shoulder with a proud smile.

While Rebecca, at last, could not help but smile with her to see how she always helped her to make the choice.

In Bedroom

Rebecca looked at her phone several times but still wasn't sure whether to call him right now or not. It's almost going to be 10:30 pm.

"What should I do? Wait until morning?"

"But Julia needs to take the train ticket early in the morning…all I get is a night to talk to him and get his answer."

After thinking carefully. You take the phone and walk toward the window to get some fresh air. As you were a little uneasy to ask him about joining the appointment.

You dialed his number and pressed the phone against your ears to hear the ringing. While your eyes looked at the dark sky with so many stars which looked so wonderful.

This type of scenario can't be seen every night. When the moon is covered with lots of stars and shines brightly.

Her lips automatically curled up. While she felt a cold fresh breeze hit her face.

With that, her window curtains almost flowed rhythmically. To make her feel calm and forget about her uneasy heart.

The phone was still ringing however, her eyes were almost busy admiring the night's beauty. That she didn't mind even if he didn't attend the call in one go.

After the call was not connected she just thought to talk to him early morning and for Julia, she will be sure to make her go.

"What a beautiful night!" She mumbled to herself and then added, "Baby, did you like the stars just like your mom?" She chuckled as she looked down at her belly.

However, before she could continue the conversation, she heard a phone ringtone.

She checked on the screen and got Edwin calling her back.

The calmness suddenly went away and a little tense expression built on her face.

She doesn't know how he will respond as he is a busy person and going to the hospital could take a lot of time.

She took a deep breath and pressed the green button to answer the call.

However, as soon as she attached the phone to her ear. His gentle mild voice welcomes her next go.

"Hello, Rebecca,"

Her heart flutters to hear him.

"Hello," Her uneasy feeling went down.

While he continued.

"I just saw your missed calls. Sorry, I was just busy with an online meeting." He explained.

"It's alright." Her lips automatically curled up. Without her realization.

"Is everything alright there? You called at this time…" He wanted to be sure she was fine. The baby is fine.

"Yes. Everything is fine." She instantly responded. As she understood what he was talking about.

Edwin felt relieved and next moment asked, "So, what is the matter?" He knew she can't be calling without any reason. As they are still sheepish around each other.

Rebecca pressed her lips tightly for a moment and remembered she needed to talk about the appointment now.

So, she tried to start the conversation on its behalf.

"Edwin, are you busy this Saturday?" She hesitates questions.

To which Edwin simply replied, "Yes, there are some meetings."

Rebecca bit her lower lips believing she can't speak about the appointment any longer. He has a busy schedule.

When after a long moment he didn't hear any response from her, he felt concerned and asked, "Rebecca, are you there?"

"Yeah," Rebecca responded, hiding her thoughts.

"So…"

"Why did you ask about my schedule?" He waited to get his response.

"I…I just asked casually." She tried to lie.

However, Edwin could feel something was more there, so he tried to reinforce, "Are you sure? Because with your tone, I feel you want to say something more…"

Rebecca felt amazed to hear him while her silence made him believe his doubt is true.

"So, there is something."

Rebecca doesn't want to hide, so she responded this time, "Yes. There is…" Her fingers grip the phone.

"And what is that?" He felt curious and knew something important out there.

"Edwin, I need your help."

"Help?" His brows arched.

"Yes," She awkwardly responded. Feeling her heart thumping faster.

While Edwin felt glad that she finally came to him for help. It means she started trusting him more. So, how could he disappoint his baby's mom?

"What do you want, just instruct me. I'll do everything for you and our baby." Edwin could not help but show his eagerness while hearing his words Rebecca's eyes enlarged and her cheeks redden.

'Our Baby' made her feel warm and touched for the first time…

She responded to him the next moment with a shy tone, "Edwin, can you leave your work Saturday morning?"

Edwin finally realized something and said, "Yeah, it's easy. Sam can handle all the meetings."

"Are you sure?" She tried to be assured.

To which Edwin immediately responds, "Yes, There is nothing more important for me than you. So, please tell me what help you need?"

Rebecca's cheeks crimson to hear his sweet tone.

"Actually, I got a doctor's appointment for my second trimester and the doctor asked me to bring a family member…But Julia's parents wanted to see her and she refused to go, leaving me alone for a checkup. So, if you can go with me. Julia can go without worrying about me."

Rebecca simply tried to explain her situation while at last, she added, "But if you can't still I'll manage."

However, Edwin instantly responded to her.

"You don't need to think too much. I'll come."

"Huh?" She halted.

"I'll go with you. You don't need to worry about it. As a baby's dad, it's my responsibility, and thank you for trusting me."

Edwin didn't hide his emotions from her. Because he wanted to show her how long he waited to get his position in her and the baby's life.

Rebecca's eyes got moist without even her knowing as she paused for a long moment before finally reacting to his words, "Thank you for agreeing to go and for timing you can come to the hospital at 10 am. I'll wait there for you."

"No, I'll come to your home to take you. We will go to the hospital together." He interrupted.

"But it will take more time for you. Your house is in the opposite direction." She was concerned.

"It doesn't not matter. I can come. You just get ready and bring your health file without forgetting." He asserted as his lips curled to hear she was worried about him.

"Alright. I'll do that." Rebecca replied. While Edwin nodded with a hum.
