Chapter 177: Chapter 177
Between their discussion, the small knocks on the door get their attention towards it.
Rebecca and Julia turned their heads at the same time and glanced at the door where the old couple stood with a guilty smile on their faces. While Sam is also beside them.
As soon as they noticed all of them, both women politely smiled. Julia met them last night and got an introduction. After talking to them she can feel. Why was Rebecca so generous to work there? This couple is truly kind and sweet after the conversation she got to know that.
"Uncle, Aunt…" Rebecca called out to them. As she's glad to see them.
While Sam signals the old couple to get inside with him. With forwarding hand towards inside.
They understood his gesture and entered while he followed them behind.
"Hello, Ms.Rebecca, glad to see that you are fine and now moving home." Sam's words made Rebecca respond with a small smile as she nodded lightly.
While he continued to speak.
"Actually, Uncle and Aunt wanted to meet you before going back home. So, I just brought them here to meet you." After listening to him, Rebecca looked at the old couple who didn't look too good. They looked upset.
"Uncle-Aunt, you did right. Please have a seat here," Rebecca asked them to sit beside Julia's empty chair.
They agree with her nodding and go to the chair when Julia leaves her chair to let both people sit comfortably beside her friend.
While she stood beside Rebecca's bed.
Sam silently looked at all of them. As he felt the old couple wanted to have some real talk with Rebecca before leaving the hospital.
Rebecca looked at a couple and waited to speak but when a long second ended and they didn't speak, she tried to start the conversation with them with light words, "Uncle-Aunt, do you want to say something?"
The couple looked at each other and then at her.
Sam felt they needed privacy to talk. So, he glanced at Julia. Julia found his signal and moved from Rebecca's bedside.
"I'm going to check if the discharge paper is ready or not. Until then you all talk." Julia looked at Rebecca who nodded while she gave a polite smile to the old couple before leaving with Sam who spoke soon, "I'll go with you. I need to collect the uncle's report from the counter.
After they both left, the old couple looked at Rebecca with little sad eyes.
"Dear, how are you feeling?" The old man asked her in a gentler tone.
"I'm a fine uncle. Hope you got your health report clear?" She inquiries.
"Yes, dear. Your uncle is absolutely fine." The old lady responds before her husband.
"Glad to hear that." Rebecca flashes a polite smile but they look at each other and then glanced at her to speak further.
Rebecca notices something is off with them. So, she tried to ask, "Uncle-Aunt, is everything alright?"
They respond with a guilty smile, "Yes, we are alright. But we want to say something to you."
"What is that?" She asked with a doubting tone.
"We both not only come here to check on you but also apologize to you for what happened to you last night in our library..." The lady clarified with an upset look and sorrowful tone. They both felt guilty and came to meet her to apologize.
However, Rebecca was stunned to hear that, "Apologies to me?"
"Yes dear, It's my fault to think. The place is safe enough to let you work there." The old man looked at her and spoke in the middle.
"Because I spent my half-life there and never things went like this. But I think now commodities are changing as people are changing and I am unable to look behind their intentions." The guilt in his eyes made Rebecca shake her head and immediately denied his words, "No, it's not your fault, Uncle! I never think like that. Not before, not now…"
Rebecca's words made them look at her with a weak small smile. Even after what she goes through, she doesn't blame them. How kind she is, they could feel that at this moment.
"Thank you, dear, for thinking like that. But it's still my fault for not being able to help you and let them get their hand on you." Uncle's eyes turned dull with sorrow as he sighed with sadness.
Rebecca could see how deeply the owner blamed himself and she felt bad about it.
"No uncle, I still think the same. It's not your fault. We are humans, not God. How can we read any human's mind and know how much they could go down to get their point." She rightly responded.
"And it's not only you meeting them, but I also met those two guys, however, I did not realize they could be this dangerous…" She shuddered as her mind filled with the last day's incident.
After inhaling she added, "So, please stop blaming yourselves. I'm just glad no one was injured."
After listening to her, the couple looked at each other and then her with a weak polite smile before nodding at last
"You are right, dear. Let's forget about the incident. We are also glad you and your child are all alright." The old man's wife speaks on her husband's behalf. As he also thinks the same thing after listening to Rebecca.
While hearing the library owner's wife's response, Rebecca's lips curved up lightly.
"Now, I hope, uncle, you are not going to blame yourself again."
"Yes, I'll not." Uncle flashed a warm smile at the end.
While his wife also breathed in relief and got a smile.
"God bless, you dear. You are too kind and generous. I hope you will get everything you deserve in your life." The old lady held her hand tenderly and smiled with motherly love.
Rebecca smiled back and nodded. While her mind thought about Edwin to hear the blessing from the lady.
