Chapter 178: Chapter 178
"Dear, if you don't feel offended, can we ask you something personal?" The couple glanced at each other a little awkwardly and then at her.
She raised her head to meet their eyes. She can sense the hesitation in the tone.
"What do you want to ask, Aunt?" She looked at the old man's wife.
However, she looked at his husband who signaled her by blinking his eyes to speak.
She understood her husband's gesture and turned to look at Rebecca before finally raising a question.
"Dear, the young gentleman who last night helped you and introduced himself as your family member to us when we first met him…is he…is he your baby's dad?" She shrugged a little to ask that from her.
While Rebecca was astonished to realize what they just asked her. She never thought they would question this and already guessed Edwin and her relationship without any word.
However, if they already knew that she doesn't think to hide it anymore. She looked at her belly and thought seriously before raising her head and meeting their eyes to respond.
"Yes, you guessed right. He is the one…" She feels hesitant to announce that. But as soon as she revealed that both people looked at each other before looking at her expression which was not filled with joy to reveal the truth.
"Sorry dear, if you feel anyhow upset about our question." Aunt squeezed her hand lightly.
Rebecca gave a fake tiny smile and said, "You don't need to apologize to ask that."
"Then dear, if you don't mind, could we suggest something to you?" They looked at her tenderly. Like they are her parents.
Rebecca knew they both wanted her good. So, she decided to hear them.
"Yes, Aunt. You are like my mother. You can suggest anything." Her words made the couple glad and brought a wide gentle smile to their faces.
"Thank you, dear for your trust, and you also like our daughter. So, we just hope our words help you to do better in your life."
Rebecca nodded.
"We can see you and the gentleman have some issue with your relationship. But still, we hope you both can sit and talk about your issues together and try to solve them. Because…you have a baby now with you and the baby is innocent. The baby did nothing wrong. So, please try to solve your issues with him…"
Rebecca's body shakes with an unsettled feeling upon hearing the lady's words.
"Aunt, Uncle…" She shrugged.
"I…I am truly blessed to get guidance from you both…"
"But things are not that easy to solve…" Her hand clenched on the duvet while she tried to maintain proper talk with them while hiding her real feeling.
"You don't know what the main reason for my anger is, why I am staying away from him. It's not that easy to explain…But he broke my trust. I fought with my past fear to take steps toward him. But he broke it…" She almost choked and felt the discomfort of opening her heart and declaring openly that.
For a baby, she knew from the first day, that a baby was innocent. That's why she, without thinking about the outcome, agreed to give birth to it.
But she needed the time to think if she was ready to let go of her past and accept Edwin. Could she forgive him for her baby? Did she do wrong to her child by not letting his/her father stay close to it? Not give Edwin his right as a baby's father.
She felt mixed emotions after hearing the owner's wife's words and now somehow she felt complicated and had to distrust her own decision. Related to Edwin.
"Sweetie, I already guess there should be a big reason, or else no mother is trying to keep her child's father a secret and stay far from him and not let him be present in her world when she would most importantly need her man in this condition. I already guessed that dear…"
Rebecca's eyes turned moist as her body shook with a sob.
"Then…w…why?" She finally shed tears and felt emotionally broken.
"Because I can see the love in his eyes for you and the baby. He is not a bad person and now regrets losing you. We both can see that…" Rebecca sniffed as she wiped out her tears to not cry more.
"He cares about you. He cares about this baby. Our aging eyes could see that, dear. Please try to open your heart at least a little to see that. He is completely in love with you…"
Rebecca lowers her eyes and thinks about his confession and their happy memories. His broken self when she left him.
"When he was taking you to the hospital, we saw him praying and almost crying for you. He almost the whole way tries to talk with you in the hope you will open your eyes. I saw how worried and scared he was to see you like that…and trust me, dear, an adult man only cried for that woman whom he never wanted to lose. You and this baby are precious to him. His tears proved that."
Rebecca flinched to hear that.
"The words coming from man's mouth could be lies but when a man cries for a woman his tears could never be a lie."
Her words almost shook Rebecca's soul deeply. She always used to see one side page and was never ready to turn his side page but today hearing the old lady's words for the first time she thinks to turn the page. And look at the things from his side.
Yes, he lied. But the way he protected her every single damn time. He already compensates her more than that. He not only tells her he loves her but every time whenever she needs him most, he is always there and when she doesn't hope still he is there to protect her.
His every action is proof of his love for her.
"Dear," She touched her shoulder.
Rebecca slowly moved her head to look at her.
"If you don't want to think as a woman then just think as a mother and let your baby be born with a father's love. Because being a mother is all about forgiving everything for your child's better growth."
