In the call
"Hey," Rebecca responded as soon pick up Julia's call.
"Are you still there? Didn't I tell you to not stay longer?"
"Yeah, I'm just going back. After talking with the owner's wife."
"Alright, but don't stay longer. I know, you will get upset."
"Yeah, you are right."
"Good, just call me. Once you get off from there."
"Okay."
After taking her last sentence, she disconnects the call.
She walked toward the table where the old lady sat and waited for her.
"Aunt, now I need to go back…" She awkwardly smiled.
"Oh! Alright!" She stood from her chair.
"Rebecca, please wait for a minute." She agreed.
The old lady walked towards the kitchen. Rebecca silently glanced at their surroundings and felt a little sting to feel that she can't come to watch this place any longer.
"Hey, dear,"
She turned to watch a lady with a small bag in her hand.
"Take this cookie with you. And if you don't mind, can you do the last favor for me?" The lady looked at Rebecca.
"Yes, Aunt, tell me."
"Could you please send these thermos to your uncle (Her husband)?"
Only then did Rebecca notice there was a small thermos in her hand.
"Yeah sure, Aunt." She forwarded her hand to take it.
"Thank you, dear." She gave her the thermos.
"I made tea for your uncle. His health is not well today and he needs to work there alone."
Rebecca understood and nodded.
"Alright, I'm leaving then."
"Yeah, bye…" She hugged Rebecca.
Rebecca whose handful of things just leaned lightly.
.
.
After coming out of the coffee shop, she looked at her hand where she held a cookie box.
She will truly miss this place so much. As her heart is already turned heavy right now. To think her time is over now to stay here longer.
She entered the library building again and looked around to find the uncle. She glanced at busy consumers with their books. However, she doesn't see uncle outside.
She thought to check on his cabin.
"Uncle!" She opened the door and entered.
But watching the view in front of her, she feels bad.
The old man was sleeping in his chair.
She walked lightly and called him once again.
"Uncle."
Hearing her voice, the old man shortly opened his eyes. Seeing her, he immediately smiled in surprise.
"Oh! Rebecca!"
He sat straight.
Rebecca smiled lightly.
"What are you doing here? Did you leave something?"
He looked at her with an inquiry gaze.
"No, actually, aunt sent the tea for you."
She showed me the thermos.
Uncle could not help but smile.
"Ohh, thank you for taking this here." He stood and forwarded his hand to take the thermos.
"It's okay, Uncle!" She gave it to him and awkwardly asked, "Uncle, are you feeling unwell? I never saw you sleeping at this time."
Uncle sighed.
"Yeah, a little bit. But don't worry. I'll handle it."
He gave a polite smile.
However, Rebecca felt bad for him to watch him work while his health is not good and could not help herself but decided to help him today, for the last time before leaving.
"Uncle, if you don't mind. Can I help you with work today?"
The old man looked at her and shook his head.
"No dear, it's alright. I'll manage."
"Uncle, Please let me help you today."
"Are you sure dear?"
"Yes." She smiled.
"Alright and thank you for thinking about this old man." He warmly smiled back.
"It's nothing like that…I'll go then and check on the books and list things."
"Yeah sure." The old man nodded with a glad face.
"You should rest here." Saying this, Rebecca walked out of the cabin while the old man looked at her back and mumbled, "What a great child! God bless her and her baby always!"
After coming out of the cabin, Rebecca phoned Julia to inform her about the decision.
"Are you serious, Rebecca?" Hearing about staying for work, Julia felt surprised.
"Yes." While Rebecca replied calmly.
"But why?"
"Why do you need to do that? He could manage himself. It's not like he never managed it alone before you work."
"I know that very well too, Julia. But I just can't help myself to leave when uncle is in poor health. And this is only for one day. I can do at least this much for him." She tried to explain to her.
"Did you decide already?" Julia pressed her temple.
"Yeah…" Rebecca whispered out.
"Alright, I'll agree. But only if you come back faster and call me if there is any dangerous situation."
"Julia, don't worry. Not every day the same thing could happen." Rebecca clarifies.
"But still, I can't sit without stress after that incident." Julia sighed.
Rebecca could feel her worrying.
"I understand that and that's why I promise, I'll come back before the sunset."
"That will be good," Julia replied.
"Alright, now I'm leaving. There is a customer." Rebecca glanced at the lady who stood in front of the counter.
"Yeah, okay. But don't forget your promise."
"Not at all!" Rebecca asserted and disconnected the call to walk toward the lady.
