Chapter 158: Chapter 158
"Hello, Boss," Edwin called Sam.
"Where are you right now?" He asked him in a serious tone.
To which Sam instantly replied, "Just going back to my home. Is there something boss?" He added at last.
"Yes, I got work for you," Edwin reported.
"Work?" Sam stopped the car in the corner to talk further.
"Yes, change the car direction and come to the library side bus stop."
"But what is there Boss?"
Edwin glanced at Rebecca who was sitting at the bus stop in silence.
"To pick up Rebecca and drop her home back safely."
Sam felt speechless. He doesn't think Rebecca will agree to go with him.
"But Boss, I don't think she will agree…" He wanted to speak but Edwin's next words made him turn silent.
"Listen, Sam, if you failed to pick up her and drop her home back. You don't need to come to the office the next day. You can rest yourself in your home your whole life." His warning made Sam sigh helplessly.
"Alright Boss. I'll do that." Hearing him, Edwin disconnected the call and glanced back at Rebecca who looked hurt.
However, he did not go to her. He just went inside his car and sat there waiting for Sam to come. He looked at his wristwatch and hoped Sam did his task.
Rebecca, sitting on the bench, looked around. She already missed the last bus. Now all she hoped to get was a cab. However, it does not make her think about rent as her mind was filled with Edwin's words and their argument.
They meet many days later but at last fight again. She sighed helplessly and closed her eyes to take a deep breath.
As she thought about the working conversation. And how he threatened her at last not to continue work here.
She tried to adjust her mind and finally opened her eyes to glance around again to see if any cab was going right there. However, all cabs contain passengers. When suddenly, a familiar car just stopped in front of her to let her raise her eyebrows with doubt that it was Edwin's car.
But when the car opened and the person came out. She felt at ease and dishearten at the same time.
Sam gets out of the car and smiles politely to watch her. But Rebecca didn't smile back. She only twisted her brows without any expression on her face. While she stood from her seat.
Sam knew she was not happy to see him here and he understood that. But he hoped he could help his boss and himself by dropping her home.
"Hello, Ms." He greeted her lightly with a tiny smile.
However, Rebecca didn't reply just nodded.
"I'm just passing from here and saw you sitting here. If you don't mind, Please get in the car. I'll drive you home. It's already late." He looked around and added, "And I don't think you can get an empty cab soon."
However, Rebecca, without responding, threw the question back.
"But I don't think your house route is here. If I remembered…" She looked at him while he tried to hide his real expression with a smile.
"I…I'm just going to another side to meet my friend."
However, Rebecca didn't buy his lies and added, "Stop lying your word. Just tell me who sent you here?" She knew the answer but still wanted to hear from him.
Sam paused for a moment and after a small silence finally, he answered, "Boss…He called me to come here." He looked at the ground and then at her.
However, Rebecca didn't react to her answer and replied on the other hand, "I'm not going. You can go back yourself."
She said and sat on the bench again.
While Sam tried to convince her.
"Please Ms."
"Let me drop you! It's already late and it is inconvenient for you to go alone…"
"I don't care. You can leave." Rebecca answered back.
"Ms. Please…"
"Boss warned me if I don't drop you back. I'm not going back to work anymore."
Hearing him, Rebecca finally changed her expression a little.
"Do you think so? I'll believe you."
She doesn't think Edwin will make Sam resign for this silly thing.
On the other side, Sam felt helpless and said, "Boss, will do that. Even though I'm an important employee. It doesn't mean he can't get more worthy and smart employees than I…"
Rebecca could sense he is serious with his words.
"So, please come with me. Ms.Rebecca. I'll send you faster and leave. If you still don't want to come, please think about my poor job."
She felt annoyed.
"Please Ms.Rebecca, come with me. I request you!" He pressed both hands together.
Rebecca felt stunned to watch him begging.
Sam thought he couldn't go back to work again.
However, soon his phone rang disturbing him. He takes out the phone from his jacket pocket and reads Edwin's name.
Rebecca silently watched him. While he attends the call.
"Hello, Boss!" He hesitantly answers it.
Rebecca could sense he is scared to talk to Edwin.
"Did you take her?" Edwin directly asked from another side.
Sam glanced at Rebecca and then answered with an awkward tone.
"No, Boss." He sighed.
"Then don't come back to work again. Goodbye."
Sam felt stunned.
"Boss…please…" Before he could speak, Edwin cut the call.
Sam sighed and pinched his nose bridge. To control his anger.
Rebecca frowned at his action and said, "If you are done talking just leave."
However, Sam soon adjusted his mood and said, "No, I'm not going. If you can't go for me, can you please think about Julia? And help me this time?"
Hearing her name, Rebecca glared at Sam.
"Sorry but please help me. Please…" Sam knew she was angry for using her best friend's name. But he had no choice.
Rebecca thought about Julia and Sam's relationship and soon stood again to take her handbag on her shoulder before moving towards the car door.
Sam sighed in a big relief to finally see her agree with him.
"Thank you, Ms.Rebecca, and Sorry again."
He opened the car behind the door for her.
Rebecca just glanced at him and sighed. She knew, It's all Edwin's fault. He is a threat to everyone around him nowadays.
After she entered, he went to the driver's seat and messaged Edwin that he managed to finally get in his car.
Edwin, who was far from his car, viewed everything and replied, "Alright."
