Chapter 159: Chapter 159
"Sorry, Miss Rebecca, I know you are angry with Boss but all he is doing for you…" Sam speaks out while concentrating on driving.
However, Rebecca maintains her silence without showing any expression.
Sam sighed to see how she got no reaction and added, "Ms. Rebecca, the boss is not a bad person. He truly cares about you and his baby. I never saw this much change before you come into his life. He never even let any woman touch him or speak to him without any work thing."
He glanced at Rebecca from the mirror. Rebecca who didn't open her mouth until now finally respond to him.
"Sam, if you talk one more word, I'll get out of your car " She glanced at him from the mirror only to make him press his lips tightly.
The car fell silent. Rebecca looked at Sam and then raised a sudden question, "Sam,"
"Yes." He soon replied while his eyes concentrated on the road.
"Why did you tell him about my place?"
Sam paused for a second before mentioning at last, "I'm sorry…but I can't watch the boss worried about you. He wanted to see your place environment. If it's good for your health and your baby…" Sam's words made Rebecca think about Edwin's words when he speak about the same thing.
Sam thought she will ask more or will yell at him, but on the other side. She just turned her head to look outside view from the window.
Sam also concentrates back on his drive and does not talk any longer. He just hoped everything would be fine with time between them.
After meeting Rebecca, he could see Rebecca is hurt. She didn't show that but her sorrowful eyes explain it all. However, he noticed one more thing: there is no hatred in it. Even when he talks about Edwin she shows anger but it is just because she's hurt, there is no contempt for his boss. So, he wished that Edwin would try harder to get her back.
The car finally arrived In front of her apartment.
"Ms.Rebecca, thank you for letting me drop you." Sam flashed a polite smile.
However, Rebecca didn't nod or reply to him. She's still full of thoughts about her fight with Edwin.
Sam got out of the car and went to open the car door for her.
Rebecca silently gets out of the car. While he closed the door and said, "Good night, Ms. Rebecca."
But Rebecca just silently glanced at him and then walked towards the building.
Sam watches her go and then moves back inside his car to text back Edwin about her drop.
As soon as Edwin's phone beeped he checked on it to read Sam's message while his eyes moved from his car to check on the building.
Yes, he is there just a few far from him. He followed all the way to watch her going to her apartment.
While he texts back to Sam, 'Alright, be on time for work." After sending it, he put the phone back on another seat.
Sam read the message and felt great relief.
On the other side, Julia is standing at the window watching everything. She saw Sam drop Rebecca in his car while she also noticed a few distances far from there one more luxurious car stopped. She is sure it belongs to Edwin.
Her brows twisted big suspiciously.
So, even before Rebecca could knock on the door or ring the bell, Julia had already opened the door in advance and was waiting for her.
Watching Julia standing at the door like that Rebecca's forehead creased. She can see Julia's mood is not good.
"Julia, is there something that happened?" Rebecca asked her while she came inside.
However, Julia without answering threw the question back, "Why are you coming from Sam's car? Does something happen? Or did Edwin make a new fuss?"
Rebecca was not surprised by her words but she still asked, "Did you see me coming from Sam's car?"
To which Julia soon replied, "Yes."
Rebecca sighed and opened her sandals to come inside the living area.
"Tell me, Rebecca!" She crossed her arms and looked completely serious.
Rebecca turned to look at her and soon spoke out, "Julia, they didn't do anything. But yes something happened."
Julia just nodded, "Alright, let's sit and talk."
Rebecca agreed and they both sat.
"Julia, I need to tell you something about my workplace."
Julia's brows arched, "And what is that?"
"Actually…"
Rebecca tells everything about the area and how she was today captured by one drunken man who raised the knife on her but Edwin helped her and asked Sam to drop her home. Julia asked how he knew about the place, so Rebecca told her he could learn anything if he wanted. Rebecca didn't take Sam's name.
She doesn't want her friend to make any wrong decisions for Sam just because of her battle with Edwin.
"What the hell Rebecca?" Julia was pissed off to hear the whole incident.
"How could you hide this bug information from me? Did you think I'm not worth it anymore to know about things?" She is angrily alleged.
"No, it's not like that…" Rebecca's voice turned weak.
"Then why? Why didn't you tell me about the place? Did you know how much danger could be there? I never thought you were going to lie to me. I'm disappointed in you, babes." Julia's eyes showed how serious and disappointed she is with Rebecca. Her best friend.
Rebecca felt guilty to see how her hiding things hurt her. She felt so much embarrassment.
"I'm sorry, Julia. But I just want to lessen your burden with working. And I knew if I told you about that place, you would reject it and ask me to not go there. But I want to help you."
Julia was surprised to hear her thoughts and soon held her hands, "Listen, Rebecca, you and your baby are not a burden for me. You are my family and I don't only call you my soul sister but also mean it. So, don't even think like that. Or I'll feel hurt…" Julia got tears.
Rebecca also got tears in her eyes.
"I'm sorry, Julia. I'll not do that again."
"You should, Idiot," Julia replied and added, "Do you know what would happen if Edwin didn't reach out to you on time?"
Rebecca's tears rolled down her cheeks.
"I know, I made the biggest mistake. I'm not a good mother, Julia. I just let my child be in danger." Her voice filled with pain.
Julia felt her sorrow and hugged her to let her cry on her shoulder.
"No, Babes!"
"You are not a bad mother. Don't ever say that. You are all doing things for your child. Even if you choose that place but all for the baby. You are a good mother, trust me. And a mother can also make wrong steps sometimes. But it didn't make her bad."
"And…I'm sorry to be rude. But I'm angry and worried to hear that you were in danger and I don't know anything about it."
"Thank you, Julia. To understand me and my situation." Rebecca released herself from the hug and looked at her friend.
