Chapter 157: Chapter 157

"Let's go. I'll drop you home." Edwin stared at her. While she stood up and glanced at him for a moment and spoke up.

"Thank you."

Edwin meets her eyes.

However, seeing him glancing at her, she retreats her gaze the next moment. She felt awkward in this situation.

While Edwin didn't move his gaze and watched her all the time.

Before finally speaking the same words again, "Let's go now." He turned to walk but Rebecca didn't walk with him. As he didn't hear her footsteps coming behind him.

He turned back and saw her standing at the same place and soon questioned, "Why are you not walking?"

Rebecca stared at him and announced, "Thank you for helping. But I can go alone." Her words feel heavy to her. But she doesn't want to make things go again like before. She doesn't want to go with him. She tried so hard these days to move out of his shadow.

On the other side hearing his words, his brown arched.

"What if I still ask you to come?"

Rebecca meets his stubborn eyes.

"But I can go myself."

Edwin smirked angrily.

"Are you sure?"

Rebecca just nodded.

"Good for you. But I'm not leaving you here." Edwin glared at her angrily.

Rebecca's forehead showed lines.

"You can't force me and I don't understand what you are doing here at this time. How did you know my job place? Did you…did you ask Sam to get information from Julia, by any chance?" She asked with an uncertain voice.

Edwin grimaced to listen to her words and answered short-tempered, "Yes, I did that. So, what? I come here for you. So what?"

He thought, at first he was never ready for her to work here but when he spent the whole day, he changed his mind to let her continue her work but now after witnessing her being threatened by a drunken man with a knife. He felt he chose the wrong decision. He can't explain how much he was scared to see the knife in that man's hand. He felt he was going to lose his baby and her. But he can't communicate that.

On the other side, Rebecca's eyes broadened while her lashes stopped blinking.

"Why? Why are you still following me?" She complained to him. She doesn't understand why he needs to follow her everywhere.

Edwin's hands clenched as he angrily reacted, "Because I don't want you to work here, Rebecca!"

"What?" Her complexion changed.

"Yes! I don't want you to work here. That's why I followed you!" He asserted while Rebecca moved backward.

"And why? Why do you think I'll agree with you?" She felt he was still trying to control her and her movements. He still tries to be bossy with her and make choices by himself. Just like he chose to hide his identity from her and made her hurt.

However, without giving her a response he threw questions back to her with cold stares.

"Are you still going to ask me after what just happened to you? And what I witnessed?"

His words made Rebecca retreat her gaze from his domineering stares. However, the next moment burst with bitterness.

"It was just an accident. It doesn't mean. I need to stay hidden every single damn time. The woman never saved anywhere, no matter where they live, not even their own damn home, so, what is this road different from that? Do we need to always live in fear?"

Her words made him pinch his nose bridge to calm himself to not shout at her. While on the other side, Rebecca almost tried to not cry in front of him. Why does she always need to hide and change places? Why do women need to live in fear? Why doesn't man accept 'No' words?

"See, I do understand but still it's not safe to be here." He tried to act calm and composed, leaving his anger.

"No, you don't understand. You are not different." Rebecca announced and tried to walk away.

However, Edwin could not help anymore himself to threaten her. Seeing her disagree with his words.

"Alright, if you don't agree with me. Then I had no choice but to warn you."

Rebecca's foot stopped to take further steps to hear his angry words. She turned to look at him with a stunned gaze.

"What do you mean?" She could not help but ask because he is powerful and he can do anything. She knew very well.

"If you still come here to work again. Even for a single day. I'll destroy this damn library. Then you can come and work."

Her eyes widened as she was filled with anger.

"Edwin, you are not doing that…" She tried to argue and shook her head.

"I'll…if you tried to risk yourself and our child. I'll do that Rebecca, trust me!" His eyes turned darker as his face almost showed how serious he is. He never flinched even after seeing her disappointed eyes on him.

"You are turning crazy, Edwin." She finally blurted those words with disappointment. He can argue with her. It's alright. But threatening is not alright. Not with someone else's property who helped her and was kind to her all the time on her job.

"Yes, I'm crazy! Crazy enough to make you and our child safe! I don't want you to work in this dangerous place where any time could happen to our child and you. Yes, I'm a crazy person to think about you the whole day and crazily fucking worried about you. If you are going to be fine or not!"

Rebecca felt every word deep down.

While he continued, "But you know what…I'm still willing to do all the things and not let you work here. If you feel I'm threatening you then it's alright."

Rebecca looked at him with big amazement eyes as she started to feel uneasy about the words she spoke to him.

"And I don't understand…Why the hell are you still arguing with me? Did you think even one second about what would happen if I didn't appear at the right time? Is work more important than your safety or our child?"

Rebecca felt speechless, she clenched her fist. She knew she was truly making a big mistake to make her and her child walk into a dangerous situation.

Her hand went to her belly as she felt wronged.

Edwin noticed that and added, "I'm not saying. You are wrong in your place. But this place is not good for our baby. It can be dangerous again and I can't be here every single time. You need to figure out this thing yourself. "

Rebecca bit her lower lips as her eyes finally let her tears roll down to her cheeks.

Edwin wanted to hug her as soon as he watched her tears. But he still maintained the distance from her to make her feel comfortable.

However, the next moment she turns and walks out leaving him alone standing in the same place. While her back little by little started to get far from his sight.

He silently watched her going and felt he spoke too much. He made her feel bad mother, for her unborn child. With her decision.

"Damn it!" As soon as he figured that out, he felt angry at himself. But he had no time to think for too long. He first needs to make sure she's alright and goes back home safely.
