Chapter 153: Chapter 153

"Young man here is your coffee with milk this time." The old lady placed his order in front of him on the table and smiled warmly just like the first time she served him.

"Thank you," Edwin glanced at the coffee and then her with the same small polite smile as before. Which didn't get his eyes but looked mannered to get attention.

The old lady nodded and turned to leave again to her counter. As she now needs to bake some cookies for an evening treat.

While Edwin held the cup of coffee and glanced at the library door again which finally opened a second time after he was drinking his third coffee.

Rebecca comes out with a lady beside her. They were smiling and talking. Edwin watched her smiling and felt a great warmth deep inside his heart. He loved to view Rebecca smiling wholeheartedly.

They talked for a little longer and soon then the lady bid bye to her and Rebecca went inside.

Edwin felt a little curious to know what they were talking about. Why did she look so happy while her eyes many times went to her belly when they were talking? Is that related to her baby? He tried to guess.

Without knowing that he already finished his third cup also.

The old lady who got busy with her dough kneading finally got time to glance at his table from the kitchen counter. She thought he was already ready to leave but to her surprise. He finished his coffee long ago and now looks at the library again just like all the time.

She caught him watching her husband's library shop from the second he sat there but didn't think to ask but seeing him still not left and looking there with deep stares. She could not hold herself but thought to ask him about himself.

She slowly walks toward him and takes the cup from the table to her tray.

Edwin didn't notice her coming. Seeing that she coughed lightly to get his attention on her.

Edwin turns his head towards her. The old lady politely smiled and said the next second, "Young man, if you don't mind, can I ask you something?"

Edwin just nodded to her yes.

"Young man, I didn't see you before in this area, and with your appearance, you don't look like you belong here or ever come before." Edwin silently watched her.

"So…may I know who you are and what your name is? Are you here for someone or waiting for someone?"

Edwin didn't look surprised by her words and just calmly answered her, "Mam, I'm a businessman, and for another question. I can't answer directly. But rest assured, I'm not a bad person and just looking after my family from sitting here." Edwin assured her with his words. While 'Family' word already caught the old lady's attention enough to be curious.

However, still she respected Edwin's not telling all things and thought his answer is enough to be her rest assured.

"Alright then, I'm leaving you alone now. If you need to order something let me know." The old lady flashed a big smile at her sentence while Edwin just nodded his head calmly and watched her back going to the kitchen.

He again moved his eyes to look at the old library building. But soon his phone rang and discouraged his mood.

He, without glancing at his phone, just pressed the answer button.

"Hello," His voice was impatient while his eyes just focused on the old building.

"Hello, Boss."

Sam called him.

"What's the matter?" Edwin comes to the point without wasting his time on long conversations.

"Boss, there is an important meeting related to last year's project which stopped midway. You need to attend that."

"When is the meeting?" Edwin inquired.

"Half an hour later," Sam replied.

"Alright, I'll attend the meeting but with an online presence. I'm not coming right now."

"But Boss," Sam wanted to ask why?

"Sam, are you just arguing with your boss?" Edwin's voice this time turned strict.

"No Boss. I did not mean that. Alright, I'll tell them about your decision," Sam soon replied.

"Good." Edwin disconnected the call the next moment. His laptop is in his car. He needs to go for that.

Thinking that Edwin stood from his chair and went to the kitchen counter.

Watching him coming, The old lady smiled.

"Yes, young man. Do you need something?" She politely asked.

"Mam, Please make the same coffee as last time. I'm coming back."

The old lady nodded while Edwin got out of the coffee shop and peeked at the library building.

He wishes he could go inside but he needs to wait. As he decided.

He moved his steps to go toward the main road direction to get his laptop from his car.

A few minutes later when he comes with that, he lastly glanced at the library before finally walking towards his destination, the coffee shop.

The lady watched him coming with his laptop, she guessed he needed to work.

Edwin directly went to his seat back and opened the laptop to log in.

The old lady brings the cup of coffee again to his table.

"Thank you." Seeing coffee being served, he soon thanked her. The old lady just nodded and left him alone to do his work.

Rebecca started to adjust throughout the book as there was no customer at that moment. However, the old man asked her to come to his cabin for a little talk.

Rebecca entered the cabin and asked the old man, "Yes, Sir, what conversation do you want to have?"

The old man who wore his big glasses tried to adjust them before finally starting to speak.

"Dear, yesterday one man came to look after you?"

"Man?" Rebecca felt stunned.

"Yes,"

Rebecca thought about Edwin and asked the next moment, "Sir, did he tell you his name? Or can you tell me about his appearance?"

"Dear, I don't remember the name." He looked at her and added, "But he looked like a gentleman. He was wearing very expensive attire and with his appearance, he looked like from a rich background."

Rebecca clenched her hands on her dress's corners. She never thought he would come here. But she guessed wrong.

"Did he say something?" She hesitates and interrogates.

"He just asked me, if you are here but I informed him you already left after which he bought one book with him."

"Book?" Rebecca questioned.

"Yeah, I saw him taking a pregnancy-related book. And he told me that he is your family." The old man's voice turned interesting.

He already guessed who he was last night when he took the pregnancy book but he wanted to learn from her. If she wanted to tell.

However, Rebecca just stood without expression and nodded.

"Thank you, Sir, for telling me. Now, I should leave." She turned to walk out but just stopped by him.

"Dear wait a minute!"

Rebecca again turned and she just hoped the old man didn't ask anything about Edwin.

"Dear, is he truly your family?" He asked politely.

Rebecca looked at him and then thought about her baby. Even she can't accept him. She can't deny he is the father of her child.

"Yes…" She replied heavily.

The old man warmly smiled and nodded. He didn't ask more.

"You can go now." Rebecca soon turned and left the room.

The old man sighed and guessed they were a couple and just got into a big fight.
