Chapter 154: Chapter 154

After finishing the meeting Edwin again started watching the library direction. He spends almost half the afternoon like this. While his table almost contained his eight cups with him. But it was tea this time.

The old lady sighed to see how determined he is to take care of his family. She doesn't know who the lucky one is but she felt he got a good heart to do that while he is doing his work also from sitting here. Many customers come in and go but he never leaves his place. Like he is a sculpture.

She already guessed the person is in the library but now thinks to ask finally. Because she can help him to go inside there and watch his family if he wants.

She thought to reveal that the library belonged to her husband, thinking that she walked in his direction with cookies on a plate.

Edwin is sipping his tea when the old lady tries to get his attention with her voice.

"Young man,"

Edwin turned his head in her direction.

"Yes." He replied and waited for her to talk further.

"If you don't mind, may I ask you, if that family member of yours is in that old library?" Edwin's eyes looked at her calmly while he looked in the library direction for a moment to get it back to her.

Like he is asking how she knew.

"I saw you looking there almost for hours. So, I guessed it. If I'm right?" She added by herself.

Edwin understood her words and finally responded by nodding lightly, "Yes."

In real-time, he doesn't like to reply to strangers. But sitting here for a few hours, he realized that the old lady is just a humble woman. So, he just responded to her in one word. Without getting rude or cold.

The lady nodded to hear him and raised another question, "Young man, then why don't you go inside there? You can stay there and look after the person closely."

Edwin soon denied it to her.

"No, I'm alright here." His statement made her not speak more. It's not a good thing. So, she just smiled.

"Alright then, if you need more coffee or tea let me know. Until then you can enjoy this cookie that I have made fresh. You should be hungry. Just don't drink, ask me if you want something to eat." She placed the cookie plate on the table.

The warm fragrance of food caught his attention.

He glanced at the cookie and then at her.

"Thank you."

The lady warmly smiles and then walks back to her counter chair. As her work is now done.

Edwin silently watched her old back before lending his eyes to the cookies in front of him.

He tried one piece and realized it was truly delicious. The taste, the aroma, the sweetness, and the nuts…everything was perfectly combined while the cookies ' smooth texture with great crunch made him feel an appetite soon. He suddenly remembered his mother's homemade cookies.

If everything were well. He can still be with his family. But he deserves their anger. He knew that. However, now he will do everything to make things work. He will not give up.

He finished all the cookies in just a few minutes. When the old lady comes to take the empty cups. She noticed he ate all the cookies.

She felt glad to see that and soon asked.

"Young man, do you like these cookies?"

Edwin nodded, "It's delicious." He didn't hide that fact even though he is still not open to talking casually.

"Good to hear that. This is my special recipe which is loved by customers more. Many youngsters come here only to eat this." She got a proud smile and Edwin could sense that.

"My husband and son both loved my handmade cookies and they are the ones who told me to add this recipe to my menu."

"They did the right thing," Edwin responded. The lady smiled.

"Dear, did you eat anything? I didn't watch you take the break?" The owner asked to look at Rebecca who is checking on the borrower list.

"Sir, I already ate. Today I got a meal box with me."

Rebecca's response made him nod.

"Alright, but you should take a rest now. It's not convenient to do long tasks in one go."

Rebecca understood and agreed with him to take some rest.

"Okay, then I'll start the work after 15 minutes of rest." Rebecca left to sit in the corner of the library.

The old man sighed to feel she is so hardworking. Even in her condition, she performs all tasks diligently.

Rebecca after taking her seat dialed Julia's number to call as it's a lunchtime Hutson company also.

She also wanted to know if, by any chance, Julia shared with Sam her new workplace.

"Hey, babes!" Julia's energetic voice fell to her ears the next moment.

"Hello, Julia. So…what are you doing? Did you finish with your lunch?" Rebecca tried to start a normal conversation first.

"No, I'm still in the cafeteria and eating it. What about you? Did you eat it on time?" Julia asked back.

"Yeah, it's done…" Rebecca replied and thought about how to bring up the question. It's not like she is angry if Julia even told her this to Sam. But she's nervous that Julia will get angry with Sam to hear that Edwin came to her job place in search of her.

"Hey, are you there?" Julia's voice gets her back from her thoughts.

"Ah…Nothing…I got a customer, let's talk later." Rebecca changed her mind to ask her. She will talk to Sam by herself. Talking with Julia is only going to create doubts between Sam and her. And she doesn't want to affect their new relationship because of her.

"Alright, Bye and take care." Julia bid the bye and cut the call. Rebecca sighed in relief at making the right decision.

She looked at the phone and thought to call Sam but before she could search for his number.

She watched a mid-aged man entering the library and looked at her side with a tiny smile.

'I'll call him after work.' Thinking that she gets up to walk toward the customer.
