Chapter 143: Chapter 143
Next Morning
"Best of luck with your first day at your job." Julia flashed a big smile while looking at Rebecca.
"Thank you, Julia," Rebecca responded with a warm smile facing her.
"So…"
"What is your duty timing?" Julia took a sip from her tea which was placed for a long minute in front of her.
"It's 9 o'clock." Rebecca looked at her wrist watch where it was already 8 o'clock showing right there.
To which Julia nodded her head lightly before taking another sip from her tea.
"Do you want me to go with you? I mean, I can also check the place by this and know where my friend is going to work?" Julia put the empty tea cup on the table and then looked at her for a response.
Rebecca gives her words some thought before finally denying her with a response.
"No Julia, I think, I can go by myself. You won't be worried about me. I'll manage. And don't forget, your office timing is not different from mine. You also need to go to your office."
Listening to her words, Julia shakes her head, "Yeah, I know. I got work. But still, are you sure? I mean, if I'm late today, it's not a big deal. I'll tell my leader, I got some emergency in the home, "
"No, you don't need to do that Julia. I can manage, I already told you. You don't need to lie to anyone." Rebecca's face turned determined.
Julia watched her reaction and asked, "Are you sure?"
"Yeah 100%. And to make you believe. I'll be fine alone. I'll call you. As soon as I arrived at the library, And for more kind information, the library owner told me that I can call him If I struggled to find his library. By any chance…"
"Alright then. Just call me when you reach the library." Julia nodded her head and agreed with her words.
.
.
"Sir, are you sure? This is the right address?" Rebecca looked outside from the cab and found the road is so slim to let the cab go further.
"Yes, Mam, the address you mentioned. It's just a few minutes away from here. But my cab can't go as the road is not big enough."
Rebecca understood and nodded.
After paying him money. She gets off the cab.
She glanced at her purse which now contained less cash to go back in the cab. She needs to ride the bus to save some money when she leaves work.
She manages to cross the small road. But soon she watches some men drinking alcohol on the road corner together. She first hesitates to walk from there but then tries to avoid them.
The men saw her and smirked evilly but they didn't follow her or stop her. They just continue drinking.
Rebecca is a little nervous about here environment and soon tries to dial the library owner's number to know where the exact library location is.
The owner soon picks up the call and gives her the correct direction which was just a few steps away from her.
When she finally found the library shop. She breathed out in relief. The library side is good, it's not like the first way.
Students and people are walking around and some coming out of the library while some going inside.
The library looks old and not so clean. But this was already informed by the owner during her last meeting before she left.
That the owner needs someone to help him to manage the library. As he can't do that alone and the pay is not so great. So, many people left between half of the interview.
"Hello, Sir," Rebecca gives a polite smile to the library owner, her boss who is standing at the door for her.
"Hello, Miss Wilson. Please come." He takes her inside the library which is not so big but has enough space for sitting and reading therewith books. And the book cupboards were placed row-wise in five sections.
Rebecca could see there are some young students in school uniforms looking through books which made her smile.
The old man noticed her watching smiling children, so he asked.
"I think, You like children so much." The old man's words attracted her attention back to him as she gave an awkward smile.
"Yes." She again turned to glance at the students.
The old man nodded as he already knew about her pregnancy which she informed him about in the first place.
"Miss Wilson, Did you have any trouble finding this place after our conversation?" The old man went to his small cabin with Rebecca to give her an id card.
"No Sir, not really. As you give the easy direction. But can I ask you something about it?" She spoke with little hesitation. As she wants to know about those drunken men. She wanted to know if it is safe to walk there daily. Or she needs to find another way to come.
The old man looked at her with a warm smile and said, "Yeah sure. You can ask me anything."
Rebecca nodded before planting a question on him, "Sir when I walked from the first small route. I saw a few people of mid-age drinking there."
The old man understood her worries with her words.
"Miss Wilson, I understand what you want to ask but I want to make sure that they are not harmful. They all are small workers who work all night and enjoy drinking during this time but they never conflict with anyone or misbehave with anyone."
Hearing the old man's words, Rebecca felt great relief.
"I hope my words help you to feel relief." The old man smiled.
"Yes, Sir. Thanks for informing me." She gave a polite smile to the old man while he nodded with a satisfied smile.
"Miss Wilson, if you have no any other queries. How about I show you around? This way we will talk about what you need to do here also…"
Rebecca agreed with him and said, "Alright."
"Good then let's go." The old man's voice turned energetic.
