Chapter 142: Chapter 142

A Week Later.

"Rebecca, what are you thinking?" Julia put the hot milk glass on the window for her while she held her coffee mug in her hand.

When a few minutes ago, Julia entered her room she could not help but inquire to see Rebecca standing in front of the window and looking at the moon in silence for a long minute. Without moving her gaze from the sky.

While on the other side, Rebecca didn't move her gaze from the moon even after hearing Julia's steps and then her question.

She responded to her by continuing to watch the moon in a calm tone.

"Julia, don't you ever think, why is the moon all alone in this whole sky?"

Her words made Julia look at the moon and reply, shaking her head in denial, "I don't know. I think it's because that is the moon. It's made to stay alone."

Julia's words caught her soul as her eyelashes flickered abruptly. It made her feel like she is just like the moon surrounded by people but still lonely with heart.

Julia noticed her disturbed gaze and asked, "What? Do you have a better answer?"

Rebecca finally moves her gaze to look at her friend beside her and answers, "No, this is what I also think. Because it's a moon and it happened to be alone for its whole life."

After saying that, she gave a weak smile to her friend and moved her gaze again to the moon. While on the other side, Julia looked at her friend with sorrowful eyes.

After Rebecca comes back to meet Edwin in his office. She looks different. There is less talk, no extra smile, and she looks like missing a soul person.

On the other side, Edwin stops going to the office. He even didn't show up at Rebecca's building near after their last conversation.

Julia can see her friend is not happy. Even she finally left her past and Edwin behind. She's not at all happy.

After staying there silent for a long minute, Julia starts another conversation while drinking her coffee.

"Rebecca, I want to ask something." Julia's words attracted Rebecca's attention.

"What do you want to ask?" She gave a small smile.

Julia looked at her and then outside down to the road.

"Do you regret your decision?" Her words made Rebecca pause for a second as her hands clenched on the window bottom rail tightly.

Julia saw her action but still calmly waited to hear her response.

"W-Why are you suddenly asking this?" Rebecca's eyes look down to the empty road. As she isn't ready to look Julia in the eyes.

"I just feel that you are not happy with your decision. Just tell me, Rebecca, do you still love Edwin?" Rebecca shrugged.

"Do you still have feelings for him? Aren't you?" Rebecca pressed her lips tightly and didn't speak this time.

Julia sighed to see her turn silent to her words. It means she still has feel for Edwin.

"Ohh, Rebecca…" Julia put the coffee mug on the small table and touched Rebecca's shoulder with concern.

Rebecca finally moved her eyes to look at her friend.

"Babe, if you love him, why don't you try to give him a chance? What if he truly loves you?"

"Julia, do you know? What are you saying?" Rebecca removed her hand from her shoulder as she walked toward her bedside.

"Rebecca, I'm not saying. You just forgive him now. But why don't you just try? I saw in his eyes that he loves you. And after having a conversation with Sam. I know Edwin is feeling guilty. He even stopped coming to the office and spent his all-time drinking."

Rebecca's heart tightened to hear her last words.

"I know, it's wrong to speak for Edwin after what he did to you. But after watching you lost in these last days. I realized. You both turned miserable and needed each other's support."

"Enough!" Rebecca pressed the hand on her ears. To make Julia stop talking more.

"Julia, I don't want to hear anything about that man again. I already moved on from him and for my absent mind. I just need more time. With time I'll be better. So, please don't talk about him."

Julia fell silent as she thought, she's gone too far today. She can take slow steps to make Rebecca understand. But using it in one go, made everything turn into a disaster.

"Alright, don't be upset. I'll not talk about him until you want." Speaking of that Julia left Rebecca alone in her room.

While Rebecca sat on her bed feeling more low after hearing her words.

Is it her fault? That he is drinking.

Is it her fault? That he is not going to the office?

Can't she be angry with him?

Can't she show him what he just did to a simple normal girl's life?

She's not a villain. She's just too broken and miserable to trust anyone anymore or give him a chance.

She's scared to hurt again. She's too scared to fall in love with that person who hurt her more than others.

She's just trying to protect herself and her baby to not being hurt by any chance.

She just wants a peaceful life with her baby. Why is it so much for others?

Why does she need to forgive him when she's not ready?

Why can everyone see his pain but not her?

Her mind exploded with many questions as she didn't know where she went wrong to make her decision.

.

.

"Julia, you should not speak all that. Miss Rebecca is still not ready to take all these words. Not from you especially." Sam sighed helplessly as he spoke from another side of the phone.

"Yeah, you are right. I should have thought about that. But now, I guess, I need to talk to her and just tell her, it's just a talk. She doesn't need to take my words seriously."

"Yeah, I guess. This is the only option." Sam sighed.

"Sam, What about Mr.Edwin? How is he doing?"

"Nothing new, same drinking and sleeping." Sam's voice filled with helplessness.

Julia also felt the same.
