Chapter 140: Chapter 140

"Now, you get a new job. Do you think of Edwin?" Julia asked with concern.

Rebecca nodded to her words and announced, "Yeah, I already made up my mind to talk to him tomorrow and send a letter by myself."

"What if he still does not agree?" Julia showed her doubt.

"I don't know, but I need to try. I can't let Edwin bind me in any way anymore. I need to control my emotions and not let him use them. Hiding the truth, his choice. Moving up mine…"

Julia nodded while Rebecca gave a fake small smile to make her assured she can handle this situation.

In The Bar

"Boss, you should stop drinking. You already had enough alcohol." Sam tried to stop him from drinking non-stop. While Edwin without any care ordered one by one many bottles of alcohol from the waiter.

"But it's not enough, Sam. I'm still feeling an ache around my chest. I still feel numb all over my body." Sam didn't get his boss's point as Edwin's all words came like mumbling.

All he cares about, stopping Edwin from drinking and taking him home back.

"Boss, I know, you are feeling low and hurt. But drinking can't help you to make Miss Rebecca come back to you. You need to talk to her and try to solve your differences."

His words made Edwin stop mid-way to sip the alcohol.

He turned and looked at him with a deep frown.

"Sam, what do you think? I didn't try to do that. But now as she sends me that recognition letter, I feel like I'm already losing her even without getting any hope."

Sam felt sorry to hear his words. He never watched his boss this broken but now he can understand his pain when he too falls for someone. And felt that emptiness when Julia looked at her with a disdainful gaze knowing the truth.

He can't give Edwin hope. When he is himself scared to get that letter from Julia and thought she was the one who is leaving the office.

Edwin again started drinking. While Sam could only watch him silently for a long time. Until Edwin finally fell unconscious in front of him half.

Julia knocks on the door of Rebecca's room in the quick morning. As she wants to talk to her if she is going with her office today or changed her mind for now.

When Rebecca opens the door, Julia notices she has already finished showering.

"Julia, what happened? There is still time for breakfast." Rebecca thought she came to ask about breakfast.

"Rebecca, I didn't come for breakfast. I want to ask, are you sure to go today with me? I mean, I know, you can handle everything yourself. But can you be sure that your feeling for Edwin is not going to force you to be softened?"

Julia's words are true and Rebecca knew that very well. When she thought about going and meeting him again in that office.

"Julia, I had enough of all the pain, now all I want is peace. I want my world with my child." Rebecca's words made Julia realize her friend now wanted to leave her past. Even she's not sure if Rebecca's words are true or all she's saying to make herself sure. But she can hope for the best for her future with her baby.

"Alright, then let's do it. I'm going to freshen up first." Julia smiled lightly while Rebecca closed her for a second to assure her that yes, she was also ready to leave her past.

Julia went back to her room. While Rebecca closed the door and went to sit on her bed with a heavy heart.

As single drops, tears roll on her cheek. But before it could fall, she wiped it with the help of her palm.

And mumbled in a strong voice.

"Rebecca, you can't be weak anymore. Don't let your heart take advantage of yours."

After making up her mind, she stood and walked towards the cupboard.

"Here you are…" The cab driver stops the car in front of the Hutson building.

Rebecca and Julia both get off the car.

While Rebecca glanced at the tall building and suddenly thought about her first day coming here. The first meeting with Edwin.

When she was between her deep thoughts. Julia comes beside her and touches her shoulder, "Rebecca…"

She abruptly got back to her senses and turned to look at Julia with a small smile and said, "Yeah."

Julia knew she was just faking a smile but she didn't ask her to make it obvious.

On the other hand, she inquired, "Rebecca, are you alright?"

Hearing her, Rebecca shortly responded, "Yeah, I'm fine. We should move on. It's already time for your work."

Julia nodded and they both started going towards the entrance.

Seeing Rebecca, many staff greeted her respectively while Julia bid her bye and told her if she wants her there she will come in one phone call.

Only when Rebecca promised that she will call her if needed then Julia left her to go to meet Edwin alone.

Rebecca walked towards the elevator and pressed his office floor. But when the elevator door opened she met Sam who was going on the same floor.

Watching Rebecca in front of him, he immediately greeted her with hesitation.

"Good morning, Miss Rebecca."

Rebecca gave a slight smile and entered the lift.

When the door closed, Sam awkwardly stood in the corner while Rebecca could not help but speak up, "Mr.Sam…"

"Huh?" Sam never thought Rebecca would be talking by herself to him.

"Do you truly like my friend?"

Hearing her, Sam didn't take any time to answer.

"Yes, I love her."

Rebecca felt glad about his response.

When the door finally opened, Rebecca walked out first.

And said in a serious tone, "Then do your best to win her heart. She is a pure soul. I hope you treat her best."

She turned and looked at Sam at last while Sam felt amazed at her words. She is giving her acceptance to them. Seeing that he lightly smiled and responded, "I promise. I'll never disappoint you, Miss Rebecca…"

Rebecca felt pleased with his commitment while Sam finally slowly nodded his head and pressed the door close button without coming out.

He let Edwin and Rebecca talk alone. As work can be done later.
