Chapter 128: Chapter 128
"When I learned something was going on between you and Sam. I was happy. Because I know Sam is a good guy and he will make you happy. I can see how your eyes brightly smile whenever you get a text from him."
Julia bit her lower lips as her hand clenched.
"No, Rebecca. But I don't think like that anymore. He hides something big. He hides Edwin's truth from you and me. I can't forgive him." Julia's voice filled with disappointment.
Rebecca sighed helplessly and shook her head in denial of her words.
"But I don't think like that, Julia." Julia's brows arched to hear her and she asked, "What do you mean?"
Rebecca gave a helpless small smile before asserting the facts.
"Julia, you are forgetting Edwin is his boss. He is all just doing his duty as his personal assistant and right hand."
Julia's face frowned.
"So, you mean to say he did the right thing to hide that from you and me."
Rebecca shook her head and whispered.
"You are not understanding."
"He is just an honest employee for Edwin. He can't go against him and tell us the truth, Edwin is his boss and more like a brother. You should better realize that and don't make him look mistaken when all he did was what his boss instructed him to do."
"And more importantly…" Rebecca's face turned serious.
"These are all things only related to me and Edwin. He is the one who wanted to hide the truth. Sam got no right here to avoid his boss' orders or talk between us and make any decision."
"And…what do you think? If Sam told me the truth, would it change my faith?"
"No, I still feel angry with Edwin and I think I'll be angrier because the third party told me the truth, not him. So, I believe Sam decided to just let the truth unfold on its own. He just doesn't want to get between his boss and me."
Julia's shoulder dropped a little, as her bottom lips jutted out. She stared at the ground and thought about her morning conversation with Sam. She didn't give him any chance to talk.
"Julia…" Rebecca held her hand to make her remove her stare from the ground to her.
"If you are in the place of Sam, are you not going to do the same?" Julia's eyelashes flicker.
"You know, you also do the same. And let Edwin and me solve our situation by ourselves."
Julia finally realized Rebecca's words and felt she need to at least let him talk and explain his side.
"Rebecca, you are saying right. I should hear his side." Rebecca's sighed in relief and gave a gentle smile before adding, "Glad, you finally realized. Now I think you both should talk to each other and solve your misunderstanding."
"Thank you, Babes. For explaining to me this." Julia warmly smiles.
"Julia, I don't want because of my and Edwin's life problems. You and Sam affected your own relationship and stop talking to each other and got misunderstood. I never want you to distract yourself because of my issues. You made me enough strong to handle all this situation. And believe me, if I need a shoulder, I know, you are always there."
"Julia, Love never knocks on everyone's door. So, if it's knocking, you should appreciate it and never let it go."
Rebecca's voice turned deeper. As she thought about Edwin and herself for a moment when she said those words.
Julia could see Rebecca, sad eyes, and the next moment she just hugged her.
Rebecca little stunned but soon hugged her back.
"Thank you for saying those words, babes. Now I know what should I need to do."
Rebecca couldn't help but smile warmly, "I'm glad, you finally made the right choice."
Julia nodded while Rebecca only hoped that Julia will always be happy because she deserves that.
.
.
After Julia's harsh words, Edwin couldn't help but feel he is just a big asshole. He should accept his mistake in the first place but all he did, taking time.
Julia is absolutely right and Edwin could only feel the burn inside his chest.
Rebecca always made a wall between him and her from the first day. Because she was scared to trust anyone after her past life with her stepfamily and that club night with him.
After that, he would need to support her and make her trust him but in the adverse, he just betrayed her by hiding the bitter truth.
He could stay longer at the office and leave the work to Sam.
He went to a bar during the daylight. He can't wait to be night. Because his heart was already covered in darkness. So, outside light is no longer irritating him. All he wants is to drink and lose his thoughts. He wanted to be calm and forget all the things to think of other ways to get the apology.
But now, for calming, alcohol is necessary.
"One whiskey bottle please." Edwin shortly ordered as soon as he sat on the bar chair in front of the bartender.
The bartender saw him last night also here. So, without asking anything. He just takes the order and soon puts the bottle in front of Edwin.
Edwin without any single thought anymore opens the bottle cap and drinks directly. He gulped all the alcohol like he was drinking water. It feels like it's not burning his throat or chest.
