Chapter 121: Chapter 121
"I know Rebecca, I made the wrong decision that night to leave you. But trust me, I was guilty all the time when I watched you suffer because of me and that's why I just…I just wanted to meet you and apologize to you…" He wanted to explain how he is ashamed of himself for doing such a cowardly act. However, Rebecca's expression turned more black.
"If you left, You should be left for my whole life. Why do you need to come back and give me such misery again?" Edwin felt an ache inside his chest to hear her words.
"You should not return and show your face to me in the first place. Do you think it's going to be pleasant for me to know the truth?" She gritted her teeth with anger and frustration.
While Edwin could only stare at her with an apologizing gaze.
"Listen, Rebecca, I'm truly sorry to leave you…but I…"
"But what Mr.Edwin?" She cut his words in mid-way and spoke out.
"But what?"
"If you decide to leave, just leave completely! Why do you need to come back and show yourself again to me?"
"Just why?" She yelled at last. Then suddenly something came into her mind and she added, "Do you come back for my baby?"
"Are you?" She covered her belly with nervousness.
Edwin felt speechless for a second and then tried to touch her to comfort her, "It's not like that…You are thinking the wrong way."
However, Rebecca avoids his touch and is protective of her baby, "No!"
"I don't trust you anymore."
"If you do not come back for the baby then what for you to come back?" She angrily glared at him while her arms still protecting her belly.
Edwin felt too regretful to see how she was turned concerned about her baby because of him. The baby belongs to him also but he is not the man in her life whom she can trust with her baby. This thing almost shattered his dream to stay together with her for his whole life.
He felt disappointed in himself and said with a shaking tone, "I know, trusting on me after what I did is impossible for you. But still, I wanted to tell you that I don't come back only for the baby, I come in front of you because I love you and this child…"
Rebecca stared at him with big stunned eyes. While he continued with his words, " At first, I just wanted to apologize but with time, I fell in love with you sincerely…and wanted to tell the truth about my identity but never got courage because I wanted to create a bond between us before that. And I wanted both of you in my life, Rebecca. I don't only want this baby but you also. You are the first person I want before our baby."
Rebecca's heart clenched to hear his words. This made her remember why she came here in the first place. To tell him the truth and confess her feelings. But who knows things are going to change like this.
When she was almost out of sense, Edwin's voice got her attention again.
"Rebecca, I know…"
"I know, I'm guilty but can you…" He held his breath for a moment and suddenly knelt in front of her while his hands pressed together before completing his words, "Can you please forgive me this time, can you please give me a chance to rectify my mistake. If you want to give me punishment, I'm ready to get it. If you want to send me to prison. I'm willing to do that also. But will you please forgive me…" His voice almost broke down at this moment.
However, Rebecca looked at him with the same unemotional expression as his words didn't reach her heart, and spoke up the next moment to give a two-word reply,
"No. I can't." Her voice turned rough and cold.
While hearing her answer, his eyes closed as one drop of tears fell from his cheeks.
Rebecca noticed his tears and she felt hurt to watch that.
She doesn't want to stay longer in the same room with him because if he talks more, she starts to find him miserable but in reality, she is the one who suffers most from all his actions. Then why does he need to look more desperate than her? It's his fault and now he needs to bear his own punishment. She will not send him to prison. But she will never let him come back again in her life from this moment. She will never let even his shadow enter her small world. She will never let him see her baby. This is the biggest punishment for him, in her eyes.
Rebecca raised her hand to go into her neck and soon she pulled out something from her neck only to show her mother's chain the diamond ring at last.
She wore this today to show Edwin the ring, after telling the pregnancy things because this ring is the last thing left by the stranger. However, she never knows both people are going to be the same.
She takes out the ring from her mother's chain and throws it on his lap.
Edwin immediately recognizes the ring and takes it in his hand before raising his head to stare at her. He never thought she was wearing his ring all the time.
"This is the ring you gave me for that night's compensation. Isn't it?" Edwin pressed his lips tightly. While she added, " Then now, I'm giving you the same ring to forget about me and this baby. Never show your face to us from now on. And for that, this ring is your compensation, Mr.Edwin…" Her eyes almost turned bloodshot red as her nose flung with anger.
Edwin felt numb to the core to hear her words as his body trembled to realize he lost her and the baby at this moment.
Rebecca walked by his side and left the cabin without turning back at all. While Edwin almost lost his knee balance and sat on the floor in misery. He doesn't dare to stop her.
