Chapter 66: Chapter 66
Early morning the next day, Mo Sheng got ready to go to the office. His dark circles were already gone after having enough sleep yesterday. And he was also feeling fresh after video calling Yun Xi to look at Xiao Hui and Ray. Xiao Hui was laying beside his sister who was sleeping peacefully.
"Uncle, you look ugly," Xiao Hui whispered as he looked at his uncle's nest-like hair.
Mo Sheng had called them as soon as he was awake, so his hair was like that. "Litte boy, you really don't know anything about fashion. Many girls fall for this look of mine. You should think of styling your hair too so that those little girls would fall for you." Mo Sheng, said as he combed his hair through his fingers.
Mo Shan was also in the same room, reading a newspaper while sitting on the couch. Though he was away from the mobile phone, he still clearly heard his brother's words. Still with his eyes on the newspaper, he said, "Don't you dare fill my son's ear with those nasty words of yours."
Mo Sheng's expression turned into that of horror, hearing Mo Shan's voice. He did not know that his brother was also in the room. His brother absolutely hated those words as he did not want Xiao Hui to be ill-mannered when he grows up. Their elder brother used to do everything for them, being a patient guide, and not letting them stray away. So, Mo Shan had promised himself that he would give Xiao Hui the same lessons passed by his brother.
Yun Xi chuckled when she saw Mo Sheng's expression change in a second. Xiao Hui also teased his uncle.
"You remember that you are going to meet the mayor, right? Don't you dare to be late!" Mo Shan spoke again.
"I know, bro. I will be meeting him on time. I am hanging up now."
Mo Sheng smiled to himself after hanging up the phone. Maybe because he had grown in the family with elders present, he came to value the relationships. So every time he feels sad or disturbed, he just needs to spend time with his family and everything would be okay.
...
Mo Corporation's branch,
"Where are we meeting mayor?" Mo Sheng asked Jay.
"Sir, the mayor invited us to his house for the meeting."
"Mmm, you can go for now. Remind me about the meeting in case I forget about it."
"Will do, sir."
After Jay walked out, Mo Sheng began to read the report that was to be presented to the mayor. It was about their upcoming project. He wanted to make sure that everything was perfect so that the mayor would not have second thoughts.
That project was very important for them. It was one of the biggest projects they were going to implement. Everything was going fine until a few days ago, but then something unexpected happened. One of the largest investors stepped back from the project, and they did not have enough time to find a new one.
The branch could solve the problem by requesting investment from the main company. And they could easily fill the gap, but Mo Shan's elder brother had made a rule that a branch cannot ask for help from other branches or the main company. The rule was made so that none of their branches would laze up and become dependent on others. If somehow one fails, it only meant that they were not capable enough.
And even after these years, Mo Shan made sure to stick to the rules his brother had set up. But this time he made an exception by sending Mo Sheng there. It was not that the branch was incapable or something, but the investor backed out on the last day. The investor did pay for the breach of contract, but that was not enough to fill the gap. So, Mo Shan sent Mo Sheng to talk to the mayor there and get funds from him.
Around lunchtime, Jay came to inform him about the appointment. Making sure that he got all the documents, Mo Sheng left for Mayor's residence with Jay.
...
On the other hand, the mayor was also waiting for their arrival. He knew how formidable Mo Family was, so if he would get a chance to work with them, then not only their family prosper but also their district. But that did not mean that he would spend the country's money on Mo Corporation if the project was proven to be bad for society.
"Dad, you are not going to the office today?" Her daughter asked, seeing her father standing outside.
"I have a meeting with a very important person, Kiara. It's cold outside. Go in and stay warm." That's right, it was the same Kiara who had called Mo Sheng driver. And the mayor was none other than Wen Hongxin, her father.
"Okay, then. Don't wait for too long. The guest has legs to walk in by himself, right? Don't fall sick later." Having said that, Kiara walked in. She still had many things she had to work on, so she could not waste her time waiting on guests with her father.
Just after she left, a car entered the compound and stopped in front of Wen Hongxin. Mo Sheng and Jay simultaneously got out of it, with Jay carrying a bag with documents.
Mo Sheng walked forward and shook hands with Wen Hongxin.
"Let's head inside, Mr. Mo," Wen Hongxin led them to his study. Kenzie also entered after a while and served them some refreshments. She left after that, knowing how important the meetings are.
"Mr. Wen, let me get straight to the point and explain the project." Mo Sheng started.
Wen Hongxin liked people like him, who would get straight to the point and not just keep on flattering him to get on his good side. After getting permission from him, Mo Sheng went straight to the point. But first, he asked if he could use the projector as it was the most important to show him the designs and how it would look like in the future.
Their talk finally ended after an hour. Wen Hongxin clearly looked impressed by the project. It was even better than he had imagined. If the project was to be successful, then it would be very beneficial for their district.
Mo Sheng specially came to meet Wen Hongxin because as a mayor, he would get a large number of funds monthly from the government to invest in the betterment of the district. If it was any small district, then the mayor would not get that many funds, but the district was also one of the expensive in the country. So, the sum that the mayor would get was also large.
Apart from that, Mo Sheng also knew that Wen Hongxin's son was a businessman, and his business was only expanding these years. So if they managed to impress the mayor, then Mo Sheng was sure that he would also get his son to invest there. And his idea did not betray him.
“Mr. Mo, I am really impressed by the project. I can also invest some private funds from my side. But only with an option that I get my money back with interest on the due date.” Wen Hongxin put forward his condition.
It was written that the project is planned to be finished in three years. And as soon as the time is over, he wanted his money back even if the project was not completed yet.
Mo Sheng smiled, hearing his condition. He had already guessed that much, and he easily agreed to it. It was because Mo Corporation was known to finish their project by the due date, and he was sure that it would be the same for this project too.
"You can leave the copy of the contract here. I will send it to you in your office after meeting with some higher-ups." Just being the mayor did not mean that he could just invest anywhere he wanted. He had some answers to give to higher-ups.
Mo Sheng also clearly understood it. "I will be waiting for it then, Mr. Wen." With that, they stood up and shook hands with each other, indicating their agreement.
