Chapter 49: Chapter 49
“What?” I confusedly asked Sharmon. The smile on her face suddenly disappeared, and then she wields her knife in front of my face.
“I said you jump in that cliff!” Sharmon shouted and pointed the knife at my face, so I backed away and felt that I already lose the gap between me and the cliff. As I stared at her, I could see in her face that she was desperate for me to disappear from this world.
“Why are you doing this?” I ask. My hands were resting on my back, trying to support my body because I would fall into the cliff in one move.
Sharmon let out a peal of cruel laughter as her eyes widened while looking at me. I can sense her building hatred towards me, “I don’t know what I did to you to act like this. Why do you hate me so much?” I added in a low voice. I moved a little forward, but I was startled when Sharmon suddenly moved her knife. I turned my back to look, and I almost lost my breath to see the darkness of the abyss waiting for my fall.
“Why?” asked Sharmon with a grating voice. She approached me and immediately sat down in front of me, and then removed the knife from my face and put it to my neck; she immediately reached for my hair and pulled it violently. I secretly screamed in pain.
“Why? You ask me why? Didn’t I tell you to leave this island early but you didn’t! I poisoned you, but you are still alive! You are also a tough woman!”
“Why are you so thirsty for making me disappear in this world?”
“Because Reign is mine!”
“What’s the connection? No one said that Reign is mine!”
“No, but he has his eyes on you, so I should put you to peace and that no one can take him away from me!”
“Stop acting like you own Reign because he’s also not yours!” Sharmon suddenly slapped me and then pressed the knife on my neck. I felt the knife piercing my neck and the aching of my skin there.
Sharmon immediately let go of the knife she was holding and her grip on my hair; she placed both hands on my neck. She was strangling me, “This is what I wanted to do to you from the beginning. It just stopped because of uncle Shino’s interruption, and now it’s just the two of us,” she brought her face close to mine as her eyes widened,“ Nothing will disturb and a great time to end your damn life, bitch!”
Sharmon’s wrathful grimace sends shivers down to my body as she tightened her hands that was gripping my neck, “Do you like the taste of another door of the death?” I do not know what to do. My brain is blank, and I’m losing my breath.
“My first attempt at you was on the yacht, but why haven’t you died yet!” I looked at Sharmon. She has this shallow smile with deep piercing eyes and an evil mind; she’s giving all of that hateful sense to me. She’s responsible for everything; why I almost died? “But you are still alive!” she moaned angrily and immediately tightened her hands around my neck—tears of fear escape from my eyes and countless cough of life.
I need air. As I closed my eyes, Reign’s blue eyes suddenly entered my mind while it was staring at me. I wish I could stare at them; I wish I could be closer to him. Yes, I have feelings for Reign, but I don’t want to admit it. I don’t know what he thinks of me and what is his real purpose. I’m afraid that I might be the only one giving malice to everything he says and shows.
This feeling is the first time I felt something like this for someone, and it’s a man. I wanted to gamble myself and see if it had a destination, the attraction I felt for Reign, but I think it was too late.
“My woman,” I was startled to hear Reign’s voice and immediately opened my eyes. I saw Sharmon; she seems like enjoying what was happening to me. I tried to look at her back, but Reign was not there, or I can’t even sense his presence being here for a moment. Am I just imagining his voice calling me?
I woke up from my death thoughts and immediately grabbed Sharmon’s hands pressed against my neck. I can’t let Sharmon end everything on me. I have a lot of things to do. First and new pieces of stuff with Reign. I have to live. I want to be close to Reign, to get to know him more than anything, and I want to hear his voice again saying that I am his woman.
I forcefully removed Sharmon’s hands from my neck, and I did it. I break myself free from her stranglehold. I gasped to help me improve my breathing and to recover from the loss of air.
I heard Sharmon hissed as she wields her knife to stab me. Even though my body was feeble, I tried to stay away and ward off from her; I did, and even though I didn’t have much strength inside my body, I aimed for her stomach and punched her vital point with all my might. Even if I don’t know how to fight for myself, don’t underestimate a nursing student.
Sharmon suddenly sat on the grass and cough because of what I had done to her stomach. I stood up to run away from where I was standing because the terrifying precipice was still behind me, but Sharmon immediately grabbed me by my feet and made me out of balance.
“No, no!” I freaked out. Sharmon’s grip on my legs made my body turned around as I lost my balance. The next thing that happened, I was already falling into the cliff. I immediately clung to the grass as my feet rested in the air. I felt the cold air from below. I don’t want to look, and I might lose the strength to live for my life.
“H-Help,” I don’t know, but my tears immediately dripped from my eyes. This feeling is the first time I’ve been scared for my whole life and mentioned the word ‘help.’ I couldn’t help but sob as I clung to the grass so as not to fall entirely into the ravine.
I escaped death from Sharmon’s hands, and now, the abyss awaiting my falling. I don’t know where Sharmon is right now. Maybe she already left me with the thought that I was going to fall into the abyss.
My body is already this frail. I closed my eyes and finally thought of Reign’s blue eyes for the last time. I still wanted to be with him, but maybe, I’m only up to here. I was about to let go of the clinging from the weeds when suddenly, a warm and big hand that was familiar gripped me. I was startled to feel it pulling me up.
“Glad that I’m not late again this time,” a baritone voice with heavy breathing said as I felt his arms around me, embracing me and giving warmth of safety. Reign hugged me tight, and I can hear his furious heartbeat.
He was nervous. My body was shaking. I was scared, but all of that was gone when Reign suddenly touched my cheeks and turned to him. Even in the dark, I could feel his blue eyes that were intensely staring at me, “Don’t worry. I already got you, my woman,” after Reign says those words, I felt his warm and gentle lips brushing mine. I knew, from his kiss and embrace; I was already saved from the peek of death.
