Chapter 48: Chapter 48
As I walked, I looked at the paper I was holding and focused on the map. It is not a map but a circle and line written while connected. Shino also provides directions.
When I already know the maid’s location, I put the paper away and ran. I didn’t look back, and I don’t know what was going on with Shino and Reign right now, but hopefully, there was no trouble between them.
I kept my gaze to the front, and I could see how Reign and Shino’s men were in turmoil. Fortunately, there was no gunfire because it would be dangerous and harm everyone; it will also take many lives. They fight with their fists, and that’s better than having gunfire.
I even saw Blaze and Blade happily fighting. I want to feel sorry for both sides, but Shino and Reign’s men are good at fighting. If other women are here in this current situation, they’re already shaking at what is happening, but me?
I was trembling as to what might have happened to Luna and Brielle. Another thing, I’m used to seeing boxing and fistfighting because it’s always happening at the bar where I work, and I also watch action movies.
I ignored them and immediately walked to where Luna and Brielle were. Hopefully, I will reach them safely; it wasn’t long before my eyes could see the source of the explosion earlier. I ran towards the burning house. Shino said that they are safe, but why is it burning now? Will Reign’s men do it?
“Luna! Brielle!” I walked in front of the burning house as I shouted their names. I stopped and faced the burning house while staring at it. I’m sure they’re not here anymore because I don’t sense any life. Not because they are dead, but maybe they are gone to a safer place. Were they taken by Shino’s men and moved to a safe place?
I could hear the loud blaze of fire and smoke enveloping the sky, but my ears did not miss the terror cry. I immediately turned to the right and followed the cry.
“Put that knife down, Sharmon. Don’t you dare hurt that woman,” Sharmon? I immediately ran to their location. When I got myself to the back of the burning house, there was a prominent tree standing. I saw Sharmon facing in my direction. She was holding a knife while and pointed at Brielle’s neck. Sharmon was wrapping her arms around Brielle’s face.
I could not see who was speaking because she was covered with trees. I ran towards them, “Miss,” I was distracted to notice Luna while Maze was next to her. She was the one who spoke earlier. Maze looked at me, and she immediately returned her eyes to the front.
“Stop it, Sharmon,” said Maze. I no longer wonder why Maze knows Sharmon. She was one of Reign’s men, so it’s already given that.
Luna approached me, “What happened?” I asked her. I looked at her face, and the blood was dripping on the bandage of her wounded eye. Perhaps it was because of the force she was exerting on her body that her wound was affected. It needs to be treated, and the injury she received from Sharmon may have gotten worse as time passed.
“Earlier, when the men took us away from you, they brought us here because they said it was safe. When they left us, Sharmon suddenly entered and immediately pulled us out of the burning house. We can’t do anything about her strength, miss, and we could not get out of her hands. After she dragged us out, Sharmon immediately poured gasoline all over the house and set it on fire,”
Maybe, that was the reason for the explosion earlier. I looked at Sharmon, and I can feel the building anger inside my body. She was holding Brielle. After she takes Luna’s sight, what will she do again? “Why is she doing this? Burning a house? What can she get?”
“Sharmon just did that to get you here, miss. She almost stabbed Brielle in the eye, but ma’am, Maze came and stopped her,” ma’am? Do they also know Maze?
I looked at Maze, she was staring at Sharmon, and I also shifted my gaze. I don’t know why she does this. Is this what she means that I need to watch myself?
“You came aye? These maids are effective bait for you, bitch!” Sharmon hissed like a starving villain while pointing her knife at Brielle’s neck. I saw how Brielle’s tears fall from her eyes down to her cheeks.
I take a step towards Sharmon and Brielle, “What are you doing?” Maze asked as if we know each other. I ignore her and keep taking steps forward.
“I am the one you want. Let Brielle go and take me instead,” I said in a soft voice. I’m the who Sharmon needs, and I don’t want anyone to get hurt because of me. I was approaching Sharmon when suddenly someone grabbed my back. When looking at the owner of the hands who stopped me, it was Maze.
“What do you think you’re doing?” Maze asked with concern in her voice. I don’t know why she’s like this to me. We only saw each other once, but why is she acting like she had the whole responsibility in me?
“I’m saving Brielle. What else?”
“You are getting yourself in danger,”
“This doesn’t concern you,”
“Yes, it is!” I stared at Maze. Her eyes were furious, and I don’t know why, “Why are you so stubborn? You’ll just be getting yourself harmed,”
“Enough with that nonsense chit chats!” I looked back to the front when I heard Brielle scream. Sharmon slowly pressed the knife on Brille’s, and then, blood drips gradually from it. I clenched my fists in anger.
“I’m the one you need. Let Brielle go. Would you mind doing everything you want with me? Please, do not involve other people anymore. I don’t like Reign if that’s why you’re doing all of this,” I said, and I didn’t know why my chest suddenly ached at the last words I said.
“Come beside me,” I immediately did what Sharmon said. When I got closer to her, she pushed Brielle away, causing Brielle to fall on the grass. Sharmon reached out to me and violently grabbed my arm. Luna was right; Sharmon’s strength is nothing ordinary. She doesn’t seem like a woman.
Maze was about to approach me, but she stopped as Sharmon pointed her knife at me, “Don’t take another step, Maze; otherwise, I will pierce this woman’s neck, and all of us will be doomed!” Sharmon shouts insanely.
“Don’t follow me. I know it’s rude to ask for this, but I’d like you to take both of the maids to a safe place,” I asked Maze. She just looked at me.
“Let’s go,” Sharmon said. She immediately turned away from Maze as I accompanied her steps. Sharmon dragged me by the arm as her grip on it was aggressive. It hurts me, and I feel like my bones are broken by the force she’s giving.
I don’t know where Sharmon will take me. My body was trembling, and I was afraid of what she could do to the fact that we are alone together. The sky is dark, but our place is bright because of the burning house behind us, “Where are you taking me?” I asked, trying to keep the fear out of my voice.
She didn’t answer and continued her violent tug on my arms; she then stopped and immediately released me, “We are here to set your funeral,” Sharmon said as she grinned while looking at me. She maybe saw the confusion on my face, “Look at your back,” Sharmon added without taking off her evil smile.
I looked at the back and almost lost my soul. I slowly moved upwards. Even though it was dark and only a fire providing lights in our direction, I knew what was lurking behind me.
“Now jump and set your own grave in that endless cliff,” Sharmon said, followed by her devilish laugh.
