Chapter 46: Chapter 46

“How can you be so sure?” I asked him when I heard about his answer. Suppose I will believe him, not now. I want to know Reign’s real opponent, and I don’t want to interfere, but I can’t just sit in the corner and always wait for him. Reign always helps me.

“Because it was the truth,” I didn’t answer, and I can’t find the perfect words to ask him. I wondered why I’m talking with Shino right now, but all I feel is comfortable.

Maybe, he looks like a chilling villain, but I admit that he was giving these good intentions, “How about Sharmon?” I asked him. Shino was staring at me, waiting to continue my words, “She almost killed me using poison and even stabbed a maid’s eye,” I continued as I tried to calm myself.

“I’m sorry about my niece. She’s just like that. Sharmon has this psychological disorder, and if she wants to do something, even I can’t tend to break off that wants out of her. So you should be careful,”

“If she has this kind of disorder, why not treat her? Have a treatment? She’s hurting innocent people and much more; she might kill someone in the future. I almost got myself killed by her,”

“I tried, but Sharmon didn’t want to go away from this island. When I go to the city, she doesn’t show up. I already lost my hope for her,” I didn’t answer because I couldn’t do anything about the current situation.

I’m not concerned about her, but she will harm many people if Sharmon can’t be treated. My fists clenched at what she did to Luna. I wanted to make her suffer just like she did, but I don’t want to because I was no different from her by chance.

I don’t know why Sharmon still has to involve people who have nothing to do with it. My heart aches after remembering what happened to Luna. Maybe if I just followed what Sharmon said, it wouldn’t happen? If I leave this island immediately, nothing will be harmed like what happened to Luna.

I looked at Shino. He was no longer in front of me. I rolled my eyes all over the place and saw him ahead. I don’t know what he’s doing because his back was facing my direction, “If you don’t have bad intentions on me, then why are you trying to make me involve between you and Reign?” I asked.

“Because you will be my bridge for the young master to talk to me,” Shino answered without looking at me, and he was doing something. I don’t know what, but I can see from my position how both his elbow moves.

“Why did you betray them?” I don’t know why it came out of my mouth. I saw how Shino’s hands stopped moving, but he didn’t turn in my direction.

“I am not a defector to Jaccobich’s, nor I didn’t intend to harm them. I turned my back from them for peace,” then Shino started moving his hands again. I was curious about what he meant by his words. Did he turn his back for peace?

“Why?”

“I won’t drag you in this mess, but don’t let your curiosity eat your mind,” he turned his body to me, and Shino was already holding a gun. This gun is what he is probably fixing, “Don’t worry. Nothing will happen to you. I won’t let you go, but the young master will be here sooner to take you out of here,” he said and immediately placed the gun behind him.

Even though Shino was holding a gun, I didn’t think he would do anything or even enter my mind that he was lying about my safety. I am so comfortable with him.

Shino approached me, and I immediately got up from sitting, but I was shocked when he suddenly pat my head. For no reason, I turned my eyes on him and caught him smiling over me.

“Don’t mind me. I like patting someone I see as my child,” Shino said when he saw the surprised expression on my face. I don’t know, but I couldn’t help and smile.

It’s been eight years since my parents died, and now I feel like this again, a feeling with having a father. Sharmon is providential to have someone for her, and I hope that she will change her life for the better.

“You can leave now and sleep,” after Shino said ‘that,’ I went out. I still have a lot to ask, but I don’t want to prolong the conversation.

When I got out, the sun was peeking at my current stance, so I stopped walking and turned my head upward. There are so many trees, and it was tall that they are almost covering the sky; only the rays of light was peeking inside this place.

I didn’t take long mesmerizing by the sun rays and immediately brought my feet to the bamboo house where I left Luna and Brielle. When I entered the house, I was relieved when they were sound asleep.

Brielle was holding Luna’s hand as they lay beside each other. My lips didn’t miss a smile for them. I can feel how close they are to each other. I never have this kind of friendship before or even a regular friend. I get jealous sometimes, but I don’t want to gamble.

But when I met Thraia, she was the first person I wanted to be friends with. I walked towards the long chair that was placed beside the bed. As I reached it, I lay down because I’m feeling sleepy. When I lay my body down, I couldn’t help but think.

How is Thraia now? And Reign? What would he do when he found out that I had disappeared from his home? I remember one of Shino’s men saying that Reign had already discovered my disappearance, but would he come here to rescue me?

***

I woke up because of the thunderous sound I heard outside. I didn’t realize that I fell asleep.  I looked to the side where the bed was and saw Luna and Brielle still sleeping. I immediately got up from lying on the wooden chair and stretched my body because my back hurt.

I felt bizarre when the noise coming from outside become louder. I was tremulant and then walked myself to reach the door inside this house. When I opened the door, it was a little dark outside. I didn’t realize that we were sleeping in ample time because it was already morning when I entered this house, and I think it’s already nightfall.

My mind was perplexed as I saw some of Shino’s men running while holding weapons. Why are they carrying guns and explosive weapons? I was terrified when I heard a loud explosion, and I can’t pinpoint where it came from.

I immediately looked up, and even it’s already night, I saw massive smoke above the tall trees. I rushed inside and woke Luna and Brielle. Their faces were confused as they looked at me. I was about to speak again when I heard another deafening explosion.

“What’s happening?” Luna asked with a frail voice.

“I don’t know, but first, let’s get out of here. Can you manage yourself, Luna?” I ask when I think about Luna’s situation. We can’t stay in this house any longer. This house is made of bamboo trees, and there is an explosion that can cause a fire especially, this place was surrounded by gigantic trees.

“I can miss,” I no longer howl. Brielle supported Luna as I came out first while they followed me, “Don’t break up the pace with me. We do not know what is going on, and we are not in the place of safety,” I said. I didn’t hear a word from them but listened to their footsteps behind me.

I was walking ahead, but we were not far from our exit when I saw Shino’s men stepping in our direction. His men were carrying weapons, and giant bullets were hanging around their bodies. What’s happening?

When we met them, Shino’s men immediately went behind me and followed them with my gaze. They suddenly hold Luna and Brielle, “What are you doing? Where are you taking them?” I asked as they suddenly grabbed the two maids and immediately carried them on their walk.

“In a safety,” I turned at Shino. I peek a look at his hand, and he was holding a gun.

“What’s happening?” I looked behind me when Luna and Brielle were gone. Where were they taken?

“The young master is already here,” I immediately returned my gaze on Shino. His face had this solemn expression, “And you’ll come with me to welcome him,”  he said, then carefully grabbed me on the hands.

I didn’t struggle from Shino’s hands because I know that he won’t hurt me. Instead, I was smiling at what was happening. Reign was here, “I told you. He will be here to rescue you because you are his treasured woman,” says Shino. I don’t know why he said it, but I know that; I will be saved by Reign’s hands again.
