Chapter 78: Chapter 78
ALPHA GREYSON (Part 4)
I prepared my men to find Rema's princess. It's a covert mission. I didn't tell the Rema Kingdom about the reason behind my actions. I also know that the people of Rema may be skeptical of our actions because they are beginning to despise us as a result of the war between the kingdoms. That is why I need to do this in private.
Miguel accompanied me as we strolled through the forest. It was strongly snowing. Miguel and my men have both transformed into wolves. Miguel is older than I am, thus he can already turn into a wolf. I clenched my teeth as I recalled my father's words. Even without my wolf, I know I can do it. But I'm sure it will be difficult for me however, I am confident in my sword skills, but I am also aware that our opponents are stronger, especially in wolf form.
Nevertheless, I am still unable to turn into my wolf. I am still unable to awaken it. I just know I'm far too young for it.
"Is this the right way?" Miguel said over our mind link. I gave him a nod. I can still smell her scent. It was a brief interaction, but I vividly recall her. Every detail about her. I'm not sure why, but I saw this as an opportunity to find her.
I came to a halt as I smelled blood. She's not far away! She's also bleeding! Damn it!
"Let's go this route!" I said to my troops, sprinting into the area where I could smell the princess's blood. When I noticed an old house in the middle of the forest, I gritted my teeth. You will not immediately notice that there is a house because it is covered with thick snow.
"Let's encircle the area; I’m going to find the princess," I said. My men promptly nodded. Miguel and I take a timid stride toward the front door of the house. Inside the home, I could hear some voices. They were even laughing. When I saw a little hole in the house's wall, I decided to investigate. The first thing I noticed was a bunch of rogues in human form watching someone seated on a chair. When I recognized who it was, I tightened my jaw.
It had to be Princess Harper!
"Should we kill her now? Dylan said he doesn't want anything to do with this kid," one of them asked.
"What? We should sell her instead! We'll make a lot of money from that child!" exclaimed the other. I'm not sure why, but what they were saying made my head feel hot, perhaps because I remembered myself sitting in the same chair, helpless and unable to free myself.
"Calm down, your highness. We can't save her if you let your wrath get the best of you," Miguel said as I straightened up and faced him.
"Let's go ahead and attack right now," I stated coldly. Miguel remained agitated. He nodded and used our mind link to summon my men. My soldiers formed a line in front of the entryway and began smashing it. The Rogues within suddenly became alert. They immediately transformed into wolves and attacked my men. I drew my sword and began attacking as well. Every time I pierced them with my sword, their blood sprayed on my face.
We howled and growled our way through the entire place.
“Your Highness!" I heard Miguel yell my name. He directed me to the door. He's telling me it's time to find the Princess. I nodded and hurried towards the door, but I came to a halt when one of the rogues emerged carrying Princess Harper. The rogue had her by the neck, and I knew with one motion that this rogue would choke her neck.
"Kill me, and the princess will perish!" he threatened. I had an angry expression on my face. How could a thug threaten me? And I was enraged even more by my body's reaction. I could murder this rogue in an instant if I didn't care about the princess's life, so why am I standing here obeying this rogue's command? Am I... attempting to protect this princess?
The rogue grinned evilly at me.
"You're easy to talk to. Now, let us escape and this princess will live!" he negotiated. My jaw clenched in irritation. I was stunned when the princess slowly opened her eyes. She was unconscious earlier and it looks like she woke up from her sleep. Her eyes widened when she noticed what was going on around her. Her emerald eyes were filled with terror and fear as she felt the rogue's claw pointing at her neck.
Finally, her gaze was drawn to me. I noticed her familiarity with me. Her lips tremble as tears well up in her eyes. And I couldn't figure out why I was getting even angrier. I only want to kill the rogue who is holding the princess. I'd never felt such a strong want to kill before. I was usually cool under pressure. But why am I reacting in this manner right now?
"H-Help me..." I could read her mouth saying this even without sound. Something is building up inside of me. My entire body was warm. My body was responding to her request. My veins were filled with blood. As my body developed, I let go of my sword. My senses grew intense and shaky. And then I heard my growl resonate throughout the entire place.
I... awaken my wolf!
With my quick moves, I attacked the rogue who was holding the princess. My white fur was splashed with the rogue's blood. On my fangs, I could taste his blood. My gaze was drawn to the terrified princess. Her eyes begged for help. And I'm not sure why my wolf seemed so excited to see her eyes locked on mine. I glanced at her and told her to flee. She stood up and left the room without saying anything. I saw her flee for her life. It was snowing severely, and every step she took left a trail of tracks on the snowy ground.
Miguel was taken aback when he saw me. I'm sure he didn't anticipate me to awaken my wolf at such a young age. But I did it. When we were done slaying those rogues, I said my farewells to Miguel, that I would be the first to depart.
Dylan will not stop until Prince Henry's daughter is murdered. Everything needs to be planned. I need to take action. I noticed the princess rushing weakly through the snowstorm. I appeared in front of her, wondering if she was okay. However, she lost consciousness at the same time as lightning struck the sky.
"Why don't you just return the princess to Rema, your highness?" Miguel suggested as we sat in my rented house outside the North Snow Kingdom, watching the princess sleep blissfully.
"Dylan will undoubtedly track her down, and when I do that, I also let Dylan do whatever he wants," I explained. I couldn't take my eyes off the child's sweet face. I know she's five years younger than me. But the way she carries herself, she appears to be a mature lady.
"Would you tell it to your father, your Highness?" Miguel inquired. I recall my father. I know he'll be overjoyed when he discovers the princess is still alive, but for now... all I can do is keep it all a secret.
"No..." I replied emphatically. We intended to return to the North Snow Kingdom the next day. When I saw the chaotic Kingdom, my peaceful return to the palace was replaced with even more rage. As my father was being treated by the medics, I witnessed my mother cry.
"Your Highness, bandits attacked the kingdom last night! They attempted to assassinate your father, but... Prince Henry, the prince of the Rema Kingdom, was here..." the narrative of an official I trust here at the palace, elder Raymond.
"What became of Prince Henry?" I asked, my mind and chest overflowing with rage and contempt.
"H-He... died... protecting your father, your Highness," he said, I closed my eyes firmly. I wasn't expecting it. I was preoccupied... I was so focused on rescuing the princess that I forgot to protect my kingdom. But... Dylan, I believe, has already planned this. He knew I'd look for the princess, so he took advantage of the fact that I wasn't in the palace to attack it... wait... Maybe Dylan knew Prince Henry was in our land and attacked the North Snow to murder him. If so... His ultimate motive was to assassinate Prince Henry, and he was successful!
That's why I was more certain of my decision to hide the princess in the North Snow Kingdom. I handed the princess to a couple who were childless. I made certain that no one knew who the princess was. I told them to look after her and treat her like their own child.
In the Rema Kingdom, peace has not been restored to the two kingdoms since the death of Prince Henry. The Rema Kingdom blamed us for Prince Henry's death and the Princess's disappearance.
The years that followed were peaceful between the kingdoms. Despite his regrets, Father continued to lead the kingdom. He was blaming himself for his good friend's death. I was quietly looking into Dylan's location. But he was difficult to find, especially since he had remained quiet in the years since.
I've also been attempting to get in touch with the princess's situation, and the last I heard about her from Miguel, she was doing well. However, after a period of silence, a new attack has occurred. And my rage grew much stronger when I learned what had transpired.
"The rogues' attacked the house of the couple caring for the princess, and their remains were found inside," Miguel stated to me inside my office. I made a fist.
"How about the Princess?" I grumbled.
"She... was nowhere to be found..." Miguel's words made my face darken.
