Chapter 60: Chapter 60

Chapter 58

When I returned to the room, Alpha Greyson was seated on the couch, appearing as if he was expecting my return. We both exchanged glances. His broad eyes were drawn to me right away. I can't stop crying. Everything that is going on is causing me great pain. Everything I enjoy in life seems to be slipping away from me.

When he spotted my tears, he stood up and came over to me. He drew me in for a bear hug. When he locked me in his chest, I burst into tears. He stroked my back and kissed the top of my head as I sobbed against his chest.

"W-Why is this happening to me? At first, it was my father... then Shena... then Mrs. Vikki... and now it's Mrs. Clea!" my voice trembled while speaking, and I could feel my heart breaking and my tears not stopping all night.

"Shh... please... Stop crying..." Alpha Greyson softly whispered against my ear. I hugged him tightly because I felt like I had no strength left and he would be my only support. Alpha Greyson accompanied me all night as I tried to get well. It was past midnight when I fell asleep inside his arms. When I awoke, Alpha Greyson was no longer by my side.

While fixing myself I couldn't stop thinking deeply. Mrs. Clea is known to have propagated stories about me. And I know that Beta Miguel and Elder Mateo may have meant that to frighten Mrs. Clea because they are worried that I will reveal the truth about them. When I looked in the mirror, my jaw stiffened. I'm now dressed in a white one-piece vintage gown with an attached corset. The skirt comprises a satin base layer with knit mesh overlays, puffy sleeves, and an elastic band at the mid-arm. The bodice dress has an elastic back and ribbon lacing through metal eyelets on the front, giving it a vintage appeal.

It's not obvious that I cried all night with Alpha Greyson. Then I remember Alpha Greyson. He believes in me. He has faith in me. But why didn't he tell me immediately? Why would he keep it hidden? I don't understand.

I ate discreetly when I went out to the dining room. I looked across at Yna and Gina, who were serving me breakfast. They obviously cried all night, just like me. My heart is still breaking as I recall Mrs. Clea's state. Mrs. Clea's final trial is today, and I must do something. I dashed to the housekeeping hall after finishing breakfast. I don't care how many guards are following me. When I walked into the housekeeping hall, everyone was surprised. Yna and Gina were equally shocked.

"I need to talk to Yna and Gina. Please go to the library," I said and didn't wait for any response and left. While waiting in the library, I stared at the book that Mrs. Clea took from the North Pack and gave me. This is the only evidence I have that another Miguel Ramirez may have appeared after his five-year absence. I want to prove that Miguel Ramirez is long dead and the one who returned is Phillip, Dylan's son.

"Yna and Gina are now here, your Majesty," Kylie informed me, and I nodded as I faced the two who had just entered the library. I instantly stood up and hugged them both, and they held me back as they silently cried.

"We did nothing to protect Mrs. Clea..." Yna said crying.

"I understand... even I, didn't do anything..." my voice shook.

"But sympathizing with her yesterday when she was about to be arrested was a very big thing to defend her, your majesty," Gina sobbed. I closed my eyes hard and motioned for them to take a seat. I faced them both once we were fully seated.

"I don't believe Mrs. Clea spread false news to me," I said, and they nodded collectively as if they agreed with me.

"Actually... When Mrs. Clea returned from her journey, I noticed something strange going on in the housekeeper's hall," Yna continued quietly and I gazed at her.

"How? Tell me, Yna." I fixed my gaze on her.

"When I entered Mrs. Clea's office, I noticed that there are some men watching outside the office, which is unusual because it is impossible for a palace guard to stay in the housekeeper hall where only women live," Yna stated. Palace guard? I got nervous.

"Tell me... do you remember the men watching in the office?" I'll inquire. Yna remained silent, as though she was deep in thought and going over the events in her head.

"I just noticed one of them is Elder Mateo's men. I don't know the rest. That's why when Elder Mateo caught Mrs. Clea, I'm not surprised anymore!" Yna exclaimed. Elder Mateo's men. I gritted my jaw.

"And one more thing..." Gina's words surprised me. "What is it?"

"When I checked the log books of the housekeepers coming in and out of the palace, I noticed Joy's name..." Her words made my forehead furrow. Joy? I had a flashback about seeing Joy at a party when everyone found out about my pregnancy. She averted her gaze from me.

"What about her?" I inquired.

"She leaves the palace about once a week. Her usual reason documented is to see her family... But I remember something... because I once spoke with one of Joy's friends, and she told me that Joy no longer has a family because her parents died in sickness, and Joy is an only child," Gina added.

I was really stunned. In that case... Is it conceivable that Elder Mateo and Joy collaborated to disseminate the terrible news about me?

That stayed with me long after Yna and Gina had left the library. When I heard the sound of the shrine outside the palace, I was deep in meditation. Then followed Kylie and Rose, who were almost out of breath.

“Your majesty! Mrs. Clea! She's about to be executed for opposing the Alpha King and Queen Luna!" Kylie's voice was trembling as she said this. My mind went completely blank. I exited the library and dashed out of the palace. The guards pursued me but did not apprehend me. And there were guards, some in wolf form, lined up outside the palace. A rope is in the center. But what I saw made my knees buckle. When I saw Beta Miguel and Elder Mateo standing in front of me, I clenched my teeth. I went looking for Alpha Greyson and found him as well.

I bolted towards Alpha Greyson. When they saw me crying in front of Alpha Greyson, everyone gasped. I'm no longer concerned with what others think. I want them to stop this! I want to save Mrs. Clea!

"Alpha Greyson! Please! Stop this! Mrs. Clea didn't spread the word about me! She's innocent!" I almost begged in front of him. Alpha Greyson's face was shocked at what I did. But I was not affected. I thought he believed me? Why is he not doing anything to stop all this? Why is he acting like this?! Why is he letting Beta Miguel and Elder Mateo control him?!

"Amara... Don't do this. Return to our chamber and rest—"

"Rest?!" I couldn't keep my voice down. I know everyone is watching us, but I don't care. What if they say I betrayed Alpha Greyson? Damn it! I don't care for what they say anymore!

"How could I fucking rest when my friend is going to be killed here?! Do you even know what I'm feeling?! No! Because you let them control you! You're ignoring my feelings!" I exclaimed, hysterically. Alpha Greyson inhaled deeply. It's as though he's also struggling because I'm like this now.

"What are you all looking at? Take Queen Luna into her room!" Elder Mateo ordered the guards behind us, but I quickly turned him around.

"You traitor!" I couldn't stop it. My rage has grown so strong that I can't control it anymore. Elder Mateo and Beta Miguel were stunned by what I claimed.

“As you know… Yes! It's me! I'm the one investigating Beta Miguel! I sent Mrs. Clea in the North Pack to investigate Beta Miguel and do you fucking know why?!" Tears rolled down my cheeks. I turned to look at Alpha Greyson. I don't have time to analyze the feeling he's displaying right now.

"Because... I just found out that... Beta Miguel is Dylan's son! And Miguel Ramirez is not his fucking name! He just used that name after killing the true Miguel! Because his true name is Phillip! Dylan's son!" Tears welled up in my eyes when I saw that Alpha Greyson was not even surprised by everything I said. Won't he even be surprised? Or maybe he's not surprised because he doesn't believe me? My heart ached even more.

"And Elder Mateo is Dylan's friend, and now he's helping Beta Miguel in planning how they're going to kill me and Alpha Greyson!" I'll keep going even though I'm in a lot of pain because I don't think anyone believes in me. I also feel pain in my stomach.

"Amara..." I was startled when Alpha Greyson called me coldly. We both exchanged glances. The coldness of his blue eyes and gazes nearly suffocated me. I grew dizzy and the ache in my stomach became very severe. Before I could comprehend anything, the palace guards began to turn into their wolves. Beta Miguel and Elder Mateo also become their wolves. And, to my shock, I saw the attack of the Rogues in the palace as Alpha Greyson drew me to protect me from the flying arrow.

"Fuck! You're bleeding!" Alpha Greyson said, and I closed my eyes firmly as the pain intoxicated my body, as something flowed between my legs, and before I could say anything, someone screamed.

"The baby!"

Then everything went dark.
