Chapter 23

I was locked in my room all day because Alpha Greyson had ordered it. I'd been getting impatient because even Kylie and Rose, who were with me, didn't say anything. When I speak to them, they abruptly interrupt or terminate the conversation.

I sighed and stood up to approach my room's window. When I opened the curtain, I could see the palace's garden. It was tempting to go out and see it, but I knew there were guards outside my door keeping an eye on me. I sighed deeply.

Shena... what would you do if you were in my shoes? Would you stay with the Alpha king or flee? But who wouldn't want to be the Alpha king's mate? Almost every woman in the kingdom wishes to be Alpha Greyson's wife. So, who am I to refuse?

But... if I had to choose, I would not want this type of setup. I want to be liberated. And if I'm going to stay with Alpha Greyson, I want him to love me as much as I love him. But I'm aware that it's impossible. Alpha Greyson will not fall in love with someone like me. That is the painful reality.

I looked at the wall clock and noticed it was five o'clock in the afternoon. Because it's almost night, the sky is orange. The door to my room unexpectedly opened a few minutes later. I saw Beta Miguel walk in. I gave him a friendly smile. He bowed his head at me.

"Your highness, the Alpha king is now waiting for you at the dining table," he said politely. I agreed by nodding.

"I'll be right there," I said as I followed Beta Miguel. Kylie and Rose were also following me. Two guards also followed us.

"Beta Miguel..." I addressed him. He looked at me.

"Do you require anything, your highness?" he inquired.

"Can I… ask Alpha Greyson to let me sleep in the housekeeper's room tonight? " I'll inquire. I could see his deep thoughts.

"I don't know if you will be allowed by the Alpha king, your highness. It's better to just ask him personally," he suggested. I nodded because that's exactly what I was thinking, but I knew Alpha Greyson wouldn't let me.

Alpha Greyson was already seated at the table when we arrived. I quickly bowed in front of him and sat down beside him. We began eating in silence. I want to ask him now, but I don't want to ruin Alpha Greyson's food, so I quickly followed him after we finished.

"Your Majesty!"  I called him. He came to a halt when I got in his way. I quickly bowed. Kylie and Rose followed me.

"What do you need?" he inquired coldly. I'm nervous, but I have to do it. Even if it is only tonight. I can't breathe in that huge space. I can't stay any longer. I don't want to be in that room by myself again.

"C-Can I sleep... in the housekeeper's quarters tonight?" I inquired cautiously. We were enveloped in silence. When I looked up at him, I noticed his blank expression.

"Do you really want to smear my name, Amara?" he asked sarcastically. I froze. "I still can't believe the Moon Goddess let me get mated to someone like you, and now you want to sleep in the housekeeper's quarter? Do you really like to anger me?" his tone darkened.

"B-But... I promise... just for tonight! After this... I'm not going to bother you with this anymore! I just want... to... be... with my friends..." my voice trembled at the last word. I'd like to speak with Gina and Yna briefly. So, at the very least, I felt better.

"I said no. Go back to your room," Alpha Greyson said emphatically. I bit my lower lip to keep from crying. I don't know why he can't give me this little thing.

"P-Please," I begged. He fixed his gaze on me. I averted my gaze because I was afraid, he would notice how upset I was right now.

"Your Majesty... maybe it is also good to let Luna be with her friends tonight. She's been locked in her room the whole day. Your wedding is coming very soon it is good to have a better disposition before that," Beta Miguel but in. There was some hope there. I knew Alpha Greyson was listening to Beta Miguel, so I hoped he'd let me in tonight.

Alpha Greyson didn't say anything, but he passed me. I became agitated and pursued him once more.

"Alpha Greyson—"

"Whatever suits you," he cut me off and walked away. I smiled. Beta Miguel and I exchanged glances. He gave me a friendly smile. I also smiled at him widely. I should return this kindness of Beta Miguel someday!

I told Kylie and Rose to stay in their rooms first because I was going to sleep in the housekeeper's room tonight. Before going to the housekeeper's quarters, I quickly changed into a white robe dress for sleeping. When I arrived, everyone was taken aback.

Because of my arrival, the previously noisy housekeeper hall became quiet. They all bowed to me, which surprised me. Joy even bowed to me!

"Your highness!" they exclaimed. I noticed Mrs. Clea also must have been taken aback by my presence.

"What are you doing here, your highness?" Mrs. Clea asked as she approached me. Instead of responding, I simply hugged Mrs. Clea. Damn! This place makes me homesick!

"Alpha Greyson gave me permission to sleep here tonight!” I exclaimed with glee. Mrs. Clea was taken aback by what I said.

I returned my attention to the housekeepers, who were still bowing to me.

"Please... raise your heads. Treat me normal like before" I said to them. They all looked up at me, and I was surprised when Yna and Gina suddenly approached me and hugged me tightly.

"We miss you!"  Yna was overcome with emotion.

"We thought we'd never be able to hug you like this again!" Gina sobbed, and I hugged them back.

"I also miss you both..." I whispered to them.

We stayed at Mrs. Clea's office at the time while I told them about what happened and how I found out I was Alpha Greyson's mate.

"I told you so! Joan was right when she said you'd be the Luna of the Alpha king!" exclaimed Yna.

"One more thing about your beauty: there's no doubt that you're Luna!" Gina added, and I just smiled at the two of them.

"Amara, do you really want to do this?" asked Mrs. Clea, and we all fell silent because we all know what Alpha Greyson can do to me.

"Honestly... I'm also at a loss for what to do... or what to feel," I said truthfully. All three of them are looking at me now.

"But... I don't want to stop, Mrs. Clea. I still have the promise to keep, and I know I'll be able to do so if I marry the Alpha king," I explained. Mrs. Clea and I exchanged glances. She gave me a warm nod and a smile.

"I know you're strong, Amara, and Vikki was right to send you here because you're a brave girl, which is why I want to support you... and help you if you need it," Mrs. Clea said. I smiled. My heart was touched by a warm hand. I never imagined that people would treat me this way.

"And we're here to help you, Amara!" Gina and Yna exclaimed simultaneously. I smiled even bigger. I'm right. When I talk to them, my heart really lightens because they are the only people I can trust at this time and who will be my support in the new life that I am building accordingly.

After a long conversation in Mrs. Clea's office, I slept peacefully in Yna and Gina's room.

It was snowing heavily outside. I'm freezing. I'm having trouble breathing because of the cold. But I continue to walk in the dark. My every step sinks into the thick snow on the ground.

"Mom...Dad..." I said, but my voice was cracking from the cold. When lightning and thunder appeared in the sky, my fear multiplied. I fall down in the snow because I was shocked. My teeny-tiny hand sank into the snow. I tried to stand up, but my body was too weak to do so.

The lightning struck again, but this time I saw an image. I'm pretty sure it was a wolf! I got nervous. Was it a rogue wolf who murdered my parents? Did he come back to kill me too? My eyes welled up with tears.

"Please... just leave me alone!" I yelled. Instead of fleeing, the wolf approached me. I was consumed by fear. I tried to stand up again, but I couldn't even lift my feet!

I returned my gaze to the wolf, who had moved closer to me. When I saw his white fur, I came to a halt. My heart began to pound wildly, a different kind of beat. This wolf with white fur has blue eyes. My lips were parted.

"W-Who are you?" I asked, my voice shaking. The wolf fixed his gaze on me. He was enormous and magnificent. I was astounded. The Moon Goddess bestowed many blessings on this wolf's physical appearance. Now I am curious about his appearance if he is in his human form.

I was about to say something else when thunder rumbled throughout the entire place.

I awoke with rapid breathing. I clenched my fists around my chest. What was it? It was... a strange dream. Was it all a nightmare? Or was that my memory following my parents' deaths? But... did I really meet a white-furred wolf that time?

"Finally, awake?" I blinked as I approached the bedroom door. Gina and Yna are no longer with me. Is what I'm seeing true? Alpha Greyson is... in the housekeeper's room doorway?!

"A-Alpha Greyson?" I exclaimed, standing up in surprise. I thought I was still in a dream!

When he saw my reaction, he raised an eyebrow. He took a proper stance and gave me a cold stare. "Go back to your room now and prepare; we have something to attend to," he said as he walked away from me.
