Chapter 20: Chapter 20

Chapter 18

When Alpha Greyson stopped speaking, I returned to my old spot. I know he only summoned me to his side to demonstrate how wrong I was to speak to him without regard for his presence.

Even so, I will stand firm in my convictions. I believe the Alpha king should not treat his subjects in this manner. I believe that the Alpha king should be the one to protect his subjects rather than sacrificing their lives in every battle.

The party went on, and I could tell everyone was having a good time with the programs the palace had prepared for the guests. However, I have yet to see the old man. I can't even see his shadow. I have to go all the way around. I can't find him if I'm just sitting around here.

That's why I rejoiced when the emcee announced that it was time to dance. The Alpha king will undoubtedly dance in order to find his mate. And now I have a chance to find out who took Shena.

Alpha Greyson rose to dance the first girl, just as I had predicted. This lady is breathtaking. She has the appearance of a goddess, especially when she smiles. I'm not sure why, but something itched in my chest when I saw Alpha Greyson put his hand on the girl's waist.

I took a deep breath and simply turned away. Alpha Greyson led the woman to the center of the room. Slow music began to play, and they began to dance with the others around them. Alpha Greyson's graceful movement astounds me. You can tell whom the Alpha king is just by looking at him. Nobody can compete with his grace and elegance.

But I must act. I don't have time to fix my gaze on the Alpha king, who is now dancing with another girl. That's why I took advantage of the opportunity to leave. I made certain that no one saw me. While looking around, I hid from the crowd. When I see someone wearing an omega uniform, I immediately turn around and checked, but he’s not the old man.

I've made it all the way to the end of the hall, but I still can't see the old man. What if he does not actually show up? What am I going to do?

I took a deep breath and continued to observe.

And as I stood there watching, I noticed a familiar figure. Fat...and dressed in an omega uniform. Could it possibly be him?

I move quickly. I went in the same direction he did. He went outside. Is the old man getting ready to leave, or is he going outside? I dashed out the door of the function hall. Fortunately, the guards were all preoccupied and didn't notice me.

I arrived right outside the palace, but the fat old man had vanished. I haven't confirmed that this is the person who took  Shena, but his figure is similar, so he's a good bet!

But I can't see him anymore! I can't seem to find him! Even his scent! It simply vanished!

I'm losing faith. I don't like what's happening.  What am I going to do? I can't think of any other way to locate that old fat man.

I had no idea I was walking in the back of the palace. This is the forest behind the palace where I let my wolf out, but I saw a white wolf and had to flee.

I'm so frustrated. I can't accept that I'm losing hope at a single moment. I'm not sure why I feel like I'm being denied the opportunity to find Shena. Years have passed, but I'm still unable to save her. And it hurts me every time I think about how much she's been through.

I had no idea I had arrived in the middle of the forest. It's the farthest I've ever traveled. I inhaled deeply and gazed at the moon. It's only in half, as expected, but it's still bright. I can't help but be impressed by the moon. Because even when it is only half in the dark night sky, it still clearly guides the way.

While walking, I came across the pond where I had seen the white wolf before, drinking. I went there and sat by the pond. I stroked the freezing water. I can see my reflection in the water because of the light from the half-moon.

My skin is fair, with blonde hair, green eyes, and a fair complexion.

I'm at a loss for what to prioritize with so many problems ahead of me. I drank from a handful of water. It tastes fantastic. The chill runs down my throat.

"What are you doing here?" I almost jumped when I heard a baritone voice from behind me. I jumped to my feet and turned to face Alpha Greyson. I'm surprised he's here tonight. What exactly is he doing here? What happened at the party? Where is the girl he danced with?

"I...I...was just...enjoying the night view," I replied, a little nervously. Damn! I forgot I had just run away, and now Alpha Greyson has apprehended me!

"Or are you just trying to run away?" he asked, raising an eyebrow. I forced a hard swallow. Even in the half-moon light, I can see his blue eyes.

"No, your Majesty. I would never dare to run away," I replied quickly, bowing down as I felt him step closer to me, my heart pounding almost in my throat!

"I don't like sneaky...brats," he said coldly, and I nodded. Would he punish me?

"I-I'm sorry..." I muttered, but he didn't respond. He stopped walking, and I can feel him three steps away.

"W-What about the party, your Majesty?" I bravely inquired, looking up at him. I almost shivered because his eyes were so cold. But why do I still have feelings for him? I'd seen him murder someone, I'd seen him be heartless and merciless, so why am I still so attached to him?

"I don't like parties," he explained as he made his way to the pond. He looked at his own reflection in the water. I can't help but stare at him because he's so close to me. Damn!

"So...why did you...plan a party?" I'll inquire. He looked at me. His intense eyes are staring at me as if I am the most pitiful thing that has ever happened to him.

"Are you questioning my plan?" he asked dismissively. I bowed my head.

"N-No...I'm sorry..." I apologized but he didn't say anything. He is difficult to communicate with. He always believes that I make all of his decisions wrong. I was just curious! Is that a bad thing?

"I need to find my mate," he later explained. Is this true? He communicates effectively with me!

"Y-You're hoping she's one of those girls?" I inquired, a little hesitantly. I was hypnotized by his eyes. I became tense. I am always in a daze whenever he looks at me this way.

"The elders are hoping, not me," he grumbled. I couldn't help but smile. He noticed, so I quickly fixed myself.

"What's funny?" he snarled. I quickly shook my head. "Nothing...I was just thinking about something else," I lied.

We were surrounded by silence. This is my opportunity to ask him. He appears to be in a good mood.

"When you said...we have a different face...can you tell me who that is?" I inquired, my voice trembling. I looked at Alpha Greyson. His eyes went completely blank. I bit my lower lip. Maybe I shouldn't have asked.

"I'm sorry...you didn't have to answer that," I said quickly before he became enraged. It's even more terrifying when he's angry.

"It was a girl from Rema kingdom," he said, astounded me. A girl from the kingdom of Rema? I remembered what Joy had said to me. She claimed that my appearance is similar to that of the wolves in the Rema kingdom. I became cold all of a sudden.

Perhaps I should learn more about the Rema kingdom. That is something I must do. Alpha Greyson met a woman from the Rema kingdom in this manner. Wasn't the Rema kingdom a rival of the North Snow kingdom in the past?

Another thing...Alpha Greyson's parents were killed during the war between Rema and North Snow kingdoms. But why are Rema and North Snow, such bitter enemies? What is the reason?

I turned to face the pond and saw Alpha Greyson's reflection. I noticed him staring at me. My brows furrowed and I turned to face him. Has he been staring at me? What's the matter, and why is he staring at me?

Our gazes locked. I was taken aback when I noticed how his blue eyes lit up as he stared at me. I also noticed an improvement in my sense of smell. But all I could smell was his scent. And my wolf is troubling me. It wishes to leave. My wolf is agitated inside me.

His eyes returned to normal. His jaw clenched, and in an instant, we were very close. I softened as he held my cheek down to my jaw. My wolf...was ecstatic at his touch; it's tingling my skin and I'm...excited.

"Mate..." he said at the same time as my wolf said to me...'mate'.
