Chapter 19: Chapter 19

Chapter 17

Sweat dripped down my forehead as I ran across the entire floor of the function hall. My body is also aching from cleaning every corner of the function hall by myself. Everyone is preoccupied with the upcoming party. Everyone pitched in to put up beautiful decorations all over the place.

I took a deep breath and resumed my cleaning. I just need to finish this and save my energy for when the guests arrive. I need to track down the old man who captured Shena. And, of course, Alpha Greyson is keeping a close eye on me.

Despite my tiredness, I attempted to finish cleaning the function hall. I was finished just as Alpha Greyson arrived. Everyone stopped what they were doing to pay their respects to Alpha Greyson's arrival. When I felt his gaze on me, I stood up properly.

"Is everything all right here?" Alpha Greyson inquired coldly. I can feel the chill of his voice in my bones. Beta Miguel's words came to mind when I talked to him. What caused Alpha Greyson to develop this personality? I've always been curious about Alpha Greyson's personality.

"Everything is going well, your Majesty; everything is ready, and everything is also in the proper order," one replied. I believe he was the only one assigned to the entire function hall. He exudes confidence. As far as I can tell, he did a good job decorating the entire function hall. I couldn't help but be impressed by the overall appearance of the area. Every time there is a party inside the palace, this is how I imagine the events.

The entire setting is surreal. It's brilliant and magnificent.

Alpha Greyson asked the man many more questions, which he answered thoroughly. I can't stop staring at the Alpha king. He is extremely attractive. He's just wearing his regular clothes right now, but he stands out among the crowd. How could I fall for a man I'd only just met? And why, despite the fact that I'm getting to know him slowly, his impact on my heart remains constant?

When our gazes locked, I almost froze. He had just finished speaking with the man. I nearly passed out! I quickly averted my gaze and bowed. I bit my lower lip. Will he reprimand me for my brazenness?

When he left without saying anything negative about me, I swallowed hard. I became tense. I was expecting another admonition from him.

I went straight to the housekeeper's quarter because I had nothing to do in the function hall. I noticed Yna and Gina frantically preparing food. I secretly waved at them. They saw me and smiled as they waved. I indicated that I was leaving, and they nodded. I went into our room to change my clothes.

It's the same uniform, but it's cleaner now that it's been washed. Because his wardrobe girls washed it for me, it was the uniform sent by Alpha Greyson. I recall the blood that had covered it that day.

I shook my head, attempting to clear my mind. I don't want to think about it. It had been a nightmare. Alpha Greyson did not hesitate to kill someone, which was reason enough to avoid him. He's too much for me. He's too risky for me.

I went to the Alpha king's quarters after leaving my room. I really don't want to go there, but I have no choice but to. I took a deep breath and came to a halt when I noticed the palace guards encircling Alpha Greyson's room. Perhaps the guests have already arrived, so there are more eyes on the Alpha king.

I waited in line with other housekeepers who were also assigned here. They looked at me, but I ignored them. When the door opened, I was nervous. I noticed Beta Miguel.

"I want all of you to be on high alert, and also...don't ever take your gaze away from our Alpha king, understand?" Beta Miguel emphasized.

"Yes, sir!" they all uttered in unison. Beta Miguel went back inside, and the door opened again in less than a second, spitting out Alpha Greyson. We all bowed in his honor. My heart pounded loudly inside my chest once more.

"Let's go," he said coldly, walking ahead of us. Before we walked behind him, Beta Miguel followed him. Tonight, is the night. I have to keep my eyes peeled for the old omega man who kidnapped Shena. I must track him down and save Shena.

For the Alpha king, the double doors leading to the function hall opened. As the chandelier lights shone in my eyes, the orchestra began to sing.

"Let us all welcome Alpha Greyson, the Alpha King of North Snow Kingdom!" " Someone said loudly and clearly. I noticed how the audience bowed their heads and clapped their hands. The women's elegant outfits were stunning. They're all dressed nicely. It's as if they know why this party is taking place.

Looking at their lovely gowns made me realize how far apart I was from Alpha Greyson. Many women can please him, whereas I...can't do anything but cause problems for others.

I can't help but be depressed.

Alpha Greyson sat in front of the audience in his golden chair. We remained behind his chair, waiting for his commands. My gaze was fixed ahead, searching for my target.

I'm sure the old man is somewhere in this crowd. This party will not be missed by an old man like him. I'm certain.

I turned my head to see Alpha Greyson, who was looking at me with furrowed brows. I became tense. Has he been watching me? Why is he staring at me?

I knelt and squeezed my hands.

“Amara?” Beta Miguel called me. I was taken aback and looked at him. "The Alpha king has ordered you to approach him," Beta Miguel explained. I quickly nodded and approached the Alpha king. I bit my lower lip. I'm so nervous.

"Amara, do you see this crowd?" he inquired. Alpha Greyson caught my gaze. As the program began, it was surprising that he managed to ask me a question. On stage, there is a theater performance.

"Y-Yes..." I answered.

"You were right; my priority is to protect my people and this kingdom, and this crowd is the people you were referring to," he said coldly. I blinked twice and remembered what I told him that day when I was helping Joan.

"But I cannot fulfill my priorities without sacrifices," he said, chilling my bones.

Is he this way because he has no other choice? Does this imply that he continues to do everything for the kingdom?

"I-I'm sorry," I stammered. I took a deep breath. "All I wanted to do was protect my coworker..."

"Didn't you know you were supposed to die that day?" he mused. That I am aware of. But I'm still puzzled as to why he didn't just kill me that day.

"T-Then...why did you...allow me to live?" I wondered nervously. He looked at me. I didn't think we'd be able to talk rationally this time. I never imagined I'd have to confront Alpha Greyson in this manner.

"You...have the same face," he said, making my brow furrow. We have the same face? Who is it? I noticed confusion in the Alpha king's eyes for the first time. He was thinking about something while staring at all the corners of my face.

"I-I don't understand," I admitted. He shifted his gaze away from me and toward the stage.

"You're still alive because I still want to know something about you; you can call yourself lucky," he clarified.

I'm not sure what he's saying, but...what I don't understand is how fast my heart is beating. The heat on my cheeks makes me feel like I have a fever. I lowered my head because I was afraid that at this point, someone would notice my true feelings.
