Chapter 18: Chapter 18

Chapter 16

My mind did not process everything Beta Miguel said. That kept going through my head. I couldn't believe I had a connection with Alpha Greyson. I'm not sure. I never imagined this would happen. This time, I'm also curious about my ancestors.

I have a feeling that my presence in the palace today is not solely due to my search for Shena. I know there is a reason for all of this. So...I need to figure out who I am, what I am, and where I came from.

I awoke early the next morning because I hadn't gotten enough sleep the night before. Another thing is that Beta Miguel did not provide me with enough food last night to satisfy my physical needs. But I'm grateful for him nonetheless. This time, I know I can rely on Beta Miguel.

After getting ready, I went to the housekeeper's hall with Yna and Gina to accept work from Mrs. Clea.

"How are you feeling?" Yna inquired, concerned. Gina is as well. I nodded quickly. I don't want them to be concerned about me any longer.

"Yes...I'm fine, Yna...don't be worried," I said. They nodded and immediately obeyed when Mrs. Clea asked them to do their work.

Mrs. Clea fixed her gaze on me. I stood directly in front of her. I know she cares about me, but she can't help me because no one can break Alpha Greyson's words.

"There's a party later tonight, and the Alpha king wants you to personally serve him at his place; that's all he told me you'd do," she explained. Because I already knew that, I nodded. Alpha Greyson already told me that yesterday.

"I understand," I politely replied. She nodded and exhaled deeply. "Have you eaten breakfast yet?" she inquired. I was taken aback. "Not yet," I replied.

"Alpha Greyson didn't order anyone not to feed you breakfast, so I think it's fine," Mrs. Clea explained. What she said stunned me even more. Is she serious? What if her actions cause her harm?

"Mrs. Clea...you don't have to do this," I said. She had both of my shoulders in her grip.

"Alpha king will scold me even more if you do something wrong out of hunger," she warned. A stinging pain appeared on my chest. Mrs. Clea smiled as I followed her. This is why I can't complain about anything in my life. Because the world is still kind to me in some ways.

Even though I am in pain, there are still people who care about me. Despite the fact that I lost my parents when I was young, I met Shena, who accepted me despite our differences.

She taught me how to live in this hostile world. Mrs. Vikki graciously welcomed me into her home after Shena was taken from me. She even assisted me in entering the palace because I wanted to save Shena because I still have hope that I will see her again.

Now that I'm in the palace, I'd like to make friends with Yna, Gina, and Mrs. Clea.

That is why, no matter what happens to me in this life, I will always be grateful to those who truly loved me.

"Thank you...Mrs. Clea," I said gratefully as she handed me the food and sat in front of me in the small kitchen of the housekeeper's quarters, where we were the only ones.

"You look so happy despite the fact that you worked all day yesterday and this was all you could eat," I sensed her pity for me and smiled at her. It's fine with me. I can do it all.

"Mrs. Clea, it's more than enough. It was back then...when Shena and I didn't have money, we had to go to bed hungry. This is nothing new to me," I assured her.

"Shena...is she your dear friend?" she inquired. I locked my gaze on her. I had no idea I had mentioned Shena's name. I agreed by nodding. "Yes," I replied. "Vikki told me that you're here because of a friend. Is she Shena?" she inquired.

I know she understands why I entered the palace despite the danger I might face.

"An omega...took her..." I reflected on the painful past. When I think back on that day, I can't help but feel sad and bitter.

"Is that why you considered...working here because you know Omegas come here frequently?" she inquired. I agreed by nodding. She inhaled deeply.

"I will do everything I can to find her," I vowed. After saying that, I continued to eat. I'm not sure where to begin, but I'm prepared. I have to find Shena before Alpha Greyson kills me.

"There will be a big gathering later, surely all the Omegas will come. Do you recall what he looked like?" Mrs. Clea inquired. I quickly nodded. "I'll never forget how he looked, Mrs. Clea," I said. As I remembered his disgusting chubby face, I gritted my teeth.

Mrs. Clea was hiding my leftover food, so I put the dishes I used in the sink after I finished eating.

"Mrs. Clea..." I called her because something was bothering me, and I'm sure she knows the answer. She turned to face me.

"What is it?" she asked, staring at me. I took a deep breath and placed my washed dishes neatly on the tray.

I turned to face her after wiping my hand. "There are two hundred pack clans here in North Snow kingdom…where do you belong? " I'll inquire. She considered what I said. "I grew up in the Eastern Snow Pack under Alpha Alfred," she explained. So, she knows where she came from.

"Shena's pack was in Western Blue Pack," I said, recalling Shena's life before she became a vagabond with me.

"She escaped from her pack?" she inquired. I agreed by nodding. "She did," I chuckled, realizing how stubborn Shena was.

"I also asked Yna and Gina about their pack yesterday...and they told me great stories about their clan," I recalled asking Yna and Gina last night before they went to bed.

"Why are you suddenly interested in that?" Mrs. Clea inquired, puzzled. I inhaled deeply.

"It's because I couldn't answer them when they asked me the same question..." my gaze returned to her. "I didn't know what clan I belonged to, or...am I really from this kingdom?" I asked, my eyes welling up with tears because I was confused about my entire being.

"Please tell me...Mrs. Clea, why is the Alpha King telling me that I'm not from here? This was also confirmed by Joy...and by others, I've met. Why? Is it true that I look...that different? " I inquired, perplexed.

I didn't think about any of this back then because Shena was always there to shield me from the strange looks other people gave me. I felt safe whenever I was with Shena. But I'm aware that I'm not like everyone else here. Green eyes and blonde hair...a very different appearance from the people I see here in this kingdom.

"Tell me, Mrs. Clea...if I'm not from here...where did I come from?" I begged. Mrs. Clea bowed and when she looked at me again her eyes changed direction from behind me. I saw the shock in her eyes and she quickly stood straight. I frowned at her reaction.

"Y-Your...Majesty!" she exclaimed, making my heart skip a beat.

I quickly turned my back to confirm my thought, and my jaw almost dropped when I noticed Alpha Greyson standing in the doorway of the housekeeper's kitchen, staring at me coldly.

He looks dashing in his royal blue robes. His long hair is pulled back into a ponytail, with a stray hair on his brow. As our gazes locked, my heart raced. I quickly bowed and expressed my gratitude.

"Your...Majesty," I said. I almost bled when I bit my lower lip.

"Clea, get back to work," he said to Mrs. Clea. I became even tenser. What brings him here? Why didn't he just call me if he needed something from me? Why...is he even here?

"Y-Yes...your Majesty," Mrs. Clea replied before departing. Alpha Greyson and I were the only ones left. Damn it, I'm cold!

"Did I tell you to come here and talk?" he asked coldly. I became tense. Why does he always notice my flaws?

"Please forgive me...your Majesty...I...just came here to eat," I admitted. He'd be even angrier if I lied.

"So you're full now?" he asked, his tone mocking. I bit the inside of my cheek. Even though I want to respond, I must remain silent.

"So...do you have the strength to clean the entire function hall?" he inquired. I blinked as he spoke. I mentally pictured the entire function and almost passed out when I realized how large it is! Is he certain...I'm the only one who cleans there?!

"I...I don't think I'll be able to finish cleaning the entire function hall by myself...your Majesty," I said nervously. My heart was pounding as he approached me.

"Do you really want to defy my orders?" he asked, his tone foreboding. I forced a hard swallow. We're now inches apart, but my head has dropped as his body has moved closer to mine.

"N-No," I replied.

"Then...do it," he said coldly.
