Chapter 13: Chapter 13

Serena's standing infront of a middle-class style apartment building, and she's sure that she's in the right place. Few days ago, she asked Katherine for Liam Hamilton's home address. She wanted to talk to him face to face, and she wanted to end their relationship and have a proper closure.

She looked at the small paper again and checked Liam's apartment number. Liam's unit is situated on the 5th floor...

She decided to enter the building and look for the elevator. She groaned inwardly when she saw the "Elevator Out of Service." sign.

She's wearing heels and it'll be a pain in the butt to climb up many stairs. But she didn't have a choice...

She sharply exhaled, and after that, she started climbing up the stairs.

Serena was almost out of breath when she finally reached the fifth floor. Her feet and legs are killing her, but she needs to go on. She stopped at Room 18,which was Liam's apartment. She took a deep, calming breath, and she finally mustered her courage to knock on the door.

She knocked three times before the door finally opened.

She saw Liam, his hair dishevelled, and there was a cigarette on his mouth. The man was obviously startled while staring at her.

"Lizzie! What are you doing here? How did you know my address?"

"It doesn't matter how I got your address... Can I come in? I need to talk to you and it's important." Serena suggested.

"Oh right. Please come in. I'm sorry for all the mess,I'm actually working on my latest script." Liam lets her in.

Serena watched Liam as he started to pick up his scattered clothes on the floor and at the couch.

"Please have a seat... You really surprised me today, Lizzie. This is your first time to visit me in my apartment. We always have to meet somewhere---but anyway, I'm so glad to see you. It's been days since we last saw each other and I missed you so much!" Liam sat beside her.

Serena moved away from Liam and sat at the edge of the sofa.

"Let's stop this foolish game, Liam. We need to end this... Now." she announced, in a firm tone.

Liam wasn't able to say anything for a few seconds, and he looked utterly confused.

"What's with this sudden change, Serena? Does this mean you've fallen inlove with Walter? Or maybe you wanted to be a rich man's wife who doesn't love her husband?" Liam bombarded her with questions.

"No,I am not inlove with Walter Hayes, and I absolutely don't want to be someone's trophy wife!" Serena steadily answered him.

"Then why are you telling me to end things with you?"

"It's because this relationship will just hurt us and the people around us!" Serena insisted.

Liam became silent, and he was just staring at her as if she's going to magically disappear at any moment.

Serena can see the sadness in his eyes.

"You know that I love you more than life itself, Serena..."

"I don't have any doubts about it. But it's still not right." she responded.

"Do you still want to get married to Walter?"  Liam questioned her again.

"No. I will not marry him... I'm going to let the both of you go."
