Chapter 39: Chapter 39

• •    • Eve's POV •   • •

Elgin's company has been so enjoyable, it's like I can't enjoy a second without her. She's like the sister I've never had.

"How did you feel when you saw him?" Elgin asks. "I felt butterflies in my belly. Haha, it's weird but I loved the feeling though."

"They are gone already, you can move out." Kidron barges into the room "Elgin! I didn't know you were here as well."

"Now you do." she stands from where they are sitted.

"Okay!" Kidron nervously retorts then he turns to leave. "What was concluded?. I mean,- during the negotiations?" I stand up and I move towards him.

He stops at the sound of my voice, turning back reluctantly. This gets us worried and more curious. He takes a deep breath, then he turns to us "Your fiance and I will meet in a deathly duel."

"Like seriously?. Who agreed to this?" I frown. "I can't afford to lose you." Elgin runs to him. "What makes you think that I'm going to be killed?" "I don't know I'm worried." she cries.

"Where is the king." I walk out of the room, they follow me. "I need to talk to the king privately." I walk away as I ask the guard who discloses the whereabouts of the king. He is in his century and he loves to be there alone, he doesn't want any disturbance they said.

"My dear love, your sons are going for a duel tomorrow and one of them will die." The King cries. I gently walk in as I overhear him, he was whispering but my wolf couldn't stop but listen.

"I heard what you just said." I place my hands on his shoulders and he shudders in shock. "I thought I asked no one to ever come here. And what so ever you heard stays her." he hostilely turns to me.

"Sure!" I seriously nod my head "What we agreed on won't hold if two of them confront themselves. So I guess our the the deal is cancelled."

"Yes, it won't hold whatever the result is. So now our deal has changed. You will help me kill King Demons when he least expect. I heard of a very poisonous flower which grows only in the Arbra Kingdom so once I get hold of it. I will sent it to you."

"I can't kill anyone, not especially a king and my to be father-in-law!". "Unfortunately you will have to and it's not like Demons is a good person, no one will cry him after his death."

"I'm sorry I can't." I flinch.

"Young girl you will do what I order you to." He grips my arms tightly. "Now get out of this holy place." He flings me off his grip like a piece of trash. Then he turns back to the corpse and he starts caressing it passionately.

I move out...

"What did you want to discuss with him?" Kidron meets me in the compound. "Nothing important." I carelessly retort.

"Why can't you just tell me the truth?"

"Ask this to you father."

"What are you people talking about?" she happily moves to us. "Anyway, I don't care. I was thinking of an activity that we three can do to spent time together before you leave. I guess today is our last day together." she suggest.

"Count me out, I have a duel to prepare for tomorrow."

"Wow, good idea Kidron. What if Eve and I serve you as backers, you can fight us."

"Like seriously?. It won't take me a second to hit you both with a finger. You both are so fragile and I don't want to give you scars on your beautiful skin..." he teases.

"Kidron, don't underestimate girls power!. Give us a trial and don't forget you trained me." Elgin gives him a twitch. "But that was child's place. Now I need, tough men to fight with." he finishes.

"Why don't you just try?. If you win us, we will allow you to train in peace but if we win we will ask you for something." Elgin insists.

"No, we will instead do it this way, if I win then you both owe me a separate date. Is it okay with you?"

Elgin and I stare  at each other and turn back to him "okay." "Now we go ladies. Meet you behind the palace. Please put on something relaxing."

They we all hurry to change and move behind the palace. We put on trousers and tops, which is more relaxing than our fat, heavy gowns.

We take our position; Elgin by my side, grinning at the tension we have caused and Kidron at the opposite end with a smile of victory which irritates me.

Suddenly, Elgin and I speed forward, charging Kidron with blows. With a flash, he skips the blow "Slow" he whispers, standing at an opposite end. Wow! he was damn fast...

"Come on, this isn't all you girls got?." he taunts. We simply scowl. "We were not ready yet," Elgin declares as if it can help.

I close my fist ready to strike him a blow on the stomach but I hesitate. We hurry to give him another blow again in vain he's too fast. I try to be as fast as well.

There were other weapons, so I picked up a sword and I race to him, faster than he expected, then I manage to slash him. I move back with a huge smile, panting. I finally did it after several trials.

"Good, Eve!" Elgin smiles and she picks a sword as well.

"Good one!. Unfortunately, you only manage to tear my top. I loved this top so much..." he says sarcastically.

"Wait until I touch you next, you won't smile." I grimace "I can't wait to see that." he exclaims eagerly.

I track this time, not with Elgin, as I rush with my sword, he seizes it, then he holds me by the waist pulling me closer to him "What did you just say." he whispers with his lips very close to mine and my mind, goes blank.

"I don't know for you, but me, this thing is getting too personal." Elgin moves to us. Her blabbing makes me realise myself and I move off Kidron's grip with guilt.

"I think Elgin is right and we are a distraction. We will allow you to train. Trust me you seriously need to because Adams is a hard nit to crack." we turn to leave.

"So I win, you both owe me a date!." we simply smile at the sound of his voice as we move away.

Kidron is a nice person, I wish I had him as an elder brother, perhaps my life would have been much better. Though I must admit that he's a very handsome man. Unfortunately, he stands no chance against Adams.

"What are you thinking about?. You have been quiet since we came here." Elgin wanders as we were ready to take a bath after all the sweating.

"Nothing." I fake a smile and this doesn't convince her "I guess it's because of the duel?. I have been thinking about this all day, Eve. I don't want you to lose your fiance neither do I want to lose my brother... I can't imagine my life without him..." before she can finish her words she falls on the ground like a piece of wood.

This time she falls asleep without even shivering like the last time. I try to carry her in vain until my wolf spatially pops out and I carry her to bed.

My heart raced, as I lay her on bed, this can't be happening now.

Immediately I tidy up, I rush out in search of Kidron. The least I can do is to tell him about his sister's situation. I finally find him in his room, I barge in and I find him half-naked.

He has a trouser on with no top, I can't help be take a quick glimpse at his well-carved abs "Elgin... Elgin,- she's unconscious" I say with my shaky voice.

"OMG! not again" he falls on bed  in pain. Then he stands up "Is she breathing." he asks. "Yes, she is. What can we do for her?"

"Unfortunately nothing, we have to wait until she gets up."

"If so I will be with her, until dinner time." I say.

"Fine, I dress up and I meet you in her room so that we go for dinner together," he says. "Fine!" I move away to Elgin's room.

A few minutes later, Kidron comes into the room to check on his sister after which he takes me in his arms to the dinner table. I notice the angry expression on his father's face when he sees us entering arm in arm. Kidron place me on the seat next to him.

"And where the hell is Elgin?..." the king transfers his aggression. Kidron stares at him sadly and he immediately understands "When will all this trauma stop!"

After dinner. I was retiring to our room.

"Where do you think you are going to?" Kidron stops me in the corridor. "To see Elgin of course." "Unfortunately, you owe me a date and I want us to have it now since tomorrow might be too late."

"I can't! I'm not at ease when I think Elgin is alone."

"She isn't and she will never be. I just want us to have a quiet moment together before you leave." he insists.

"Okay fine!. It shouldn't be long then." I give up. "Good, my lady!. Follow me." he smiles. I did.

We moved out behind the palace. The place was all dressed up, well decorated, a part in the compound under a tree for a picnic. With few fruits and many drinks.

"What are we celebrating?" I smile. "Today might be my last day and I decided to spend it with a lady who makes me feel unusual like no one has ever." he gets passionate and indeed it's deep and heartwarming but not necessary.

Before I can complain, he stops me "More to this your finance can kill me tomorrow." he breaks through the passionate atmosphere and makes it funky.

He helps me take a seat, then he pours out wine for me. "So tell me more about you." he leans on the tree with his stare fixed at me.

"There isn't much to say about me. My life has been much like that of Elgin; closed in a room with no right to see or talk to people. The only difference is that at least I was living. Perhaps I would have loved to be at sleep for all those wasted years of my life." I take a deep breath, drinking all the contents of my cup in a gulp.

Then I point the cup at him to refill it.  Though I'm not a fan of  alcohol but this part of my life pains me alot and needs alcohol to push it down. I don't think I will ever get over it.

"Im so sorry about this. Looking at you no one can guess this." he pours more wine.

"Of course. Anyway, that's in the past now. I'm trying to be a new me. It's only now that I have started living my life. I must say real life isn't easy but it's always worth living."

Everything is so subtle, and it's like nature is in our favour. The gentle breeze swept across my face with such a romance I closed my eyes to absorb it.

As I opened my eyes, I met his stare, which was like a magnetic force, drawing us closer and closer, we were engulfed in a moment of yes I do. As our lips were about to merge, something stunk me like a bee, though there wasn't any bee. I spoiled the moment. "Sorry!" we both smile and he leaned back on the tree.
