Chapter 42: Chapter 42

Jasmine stares at the god in front of her. His face is blank but the aura oozing out from him is anything but calm.

How should she start...

She has been silent the whole time so that she can avoid his wrath if he tries to put it on her.

She's centuries old but still afraid of him. No, there's nothing bad about that. You just have to know when things are looking too grim.

"It's all my fault."

He finally speaks, though it comes in a whisper. It takes Jasmine a few seconds to realize this. Normally, she would but she was too lost in her thoughts...

Okay, now she's rambling too much.

"I'm sure whatever happened wasn't entirely your fault." She says and immediately grimace when she realize she said entirely.

Stupid, stupid, stupid.

What if guilt pulls him in even more.

Clearing her throat, she speaks. "So when we going to get her back?"

Nathan stares at the floor blankly.

"First, we need to find the location. There's a tracking spell on Isabella but I'm sure that she blocked it out since I can't sense Isabella anymore."

"I'll call Em-"

"Don't." He cuts me off, raising his head to look at me with very dark eyes. Jasmine wonders how his eyes darken even though they are golden. "I need to solve this on my own."

As he stands to his feet, Jasmine nods.

She's a little absent minded but who wouldn't be in this situation. The only time she has seen him in this state was when...

"Aren't you coming?"

"Huh?" Jasmine blinks and rushes to his side. "Um, sure."

Isabella is a friend of Jasmine and not to mention Nathan's mate. She has an obligation to act quickly.

For the whole day, Nathan and Jasmine work tirelessly.

Nathan zaps around all the places he has gone to with her but ends up with nothing.

Jasmine tries to track Isabella's scent but she can only go so far. It's not something a vampire is good at.

Nathan collapses on the bed. He found nothing, nothing. No trace of Destiny, not a scent of her.

Unconsciously, he stretches out his hands to touch Isabella, only that she isn't here.

With a groan, he stuffs his face into the mattress and forces himself to go to sleep. If Isabella sees him like this she'll be so mad.

This brings a smile to his face as he dozes off.

A bright light blinds his eyes and he closes them shut immediately but it doesn't help. Slowly, it light fades away and he can now open his eyes to see... a grassland?

What is this place?

"Nathan, hey Nathan?"

His eyes widen.

Is that?

"Isabella?"

He stands to his feet, looking around until he sees her running towards him with a big smile on her face but when she draws closer he notices that something is wrong.

"Nathaniel! Yeah!! You're back, you know playing hide and seek can be very draining. It took a lot of effort to find you..." She hugs him.

This voice...

With a small gasp, he pulls her back and the face staring back at him is that of...

"Destiny." His voice turns deep and his eyes malicious. "What are you-"

"You aren't going to leave me right? You promise and you never break your promises, never." Destiny smiles at him.

"Destiny, tell me wh-"

"Nathan, Nathan. Wake up!"

He jerks up from the bed immediately and looks around.

"Destiny, where is she?"

But the only standing in front of him is Jasmine.

She thrusts a phone in his direction and says. "She called and told me that she wants to speak to you."

Without hesitation, he grabs the phone and stands up, moving to the window.

"Where have you taken her?"

There's a small sound from the other line before a feminine voice speaks. "That isn't the proper way to say hello and you know it."

"Tell me what you want with her. She has done nothing to deserve this." He grits his teeth.

"Oh really but accepting you was her fault, after all you are my fiancé and what you two being together is considered cheating."

"I was your fiancé but not anymore." He closes his eyes. "So give her back, don't meddle in our lives, don't ever appear in my dreams again and we can keep this behind us."

"It sounds like you don't want a fight. That's so you and who said I appeared in your dream but I guess I'm glad that you are dreaming of me. So tell me, was I wearing something hot-"

"Stop this chatter and tell me where you kept her."

There's a small pause from the other line. "I'll send the details to this phone when we are done talking."

"How do I know that you didn't do anything to here."

"You didn't even ask if I ridged the place."

"That's not your style."

"Aww, I'm so glad that you still believe in me." She says. Before she can say any other word, he cuts the call and hands the phone to Jasmine.

He grabs his jacket from his chair and Jasmine says. "She has sent it."

"We have to go now. Who knows what kind of plan that woman has on her mind."

When he opens the door, the person is front of him is Andrew...

"What are you doing here? I have too much on my plate already."

"I know what's happening and I'm going with you." Andrew tells him.

Nathan stops and turns to Jasmine who shrugs.

"I kind of found out when I was asking about anything strange happening over at his house." Jasmine explains and Nathan scoffs.

"For a vampire so old you don't know how to be discreet or vague."

"You don't have to be so mean." She whispers and rolls her eyes.

"I can help in taking her down."

"I doubt that will be the case here. This is just going to be a resuce mission. I doubt that she will even be there but believe me if she did anything to Isabella I will kill her."

"I'm still coming with you."

"You have no regard of your safety, do you. You're a human, if she wants to kill you, she will and she's a god, the god of destinies to be frank. I have reasons to believe that she cursed your sister because she knew that Isabella and Shelia would cross paths on day, that's the kind of thing she does."

"That's not going to stop me from coming, you know."

"Yeah, just don't die. I don't know how to take care of children."
