Chapter 43: Chapter 43
Jasmine, Nathan and Andrew stare at the bed where Isabella's pale body lies perfectly still except for the small whispers that leaves her lips ever so often.
Nathan clenches his fist and grits his teeth. He can't imagine the pain she is going through right now.
"No matter what I did I still fell into her trap."
*LET'S REWIND A LITTLE, TO THE SCENE WHERE THEY LEFT FOR THE LOCATION THAT WAS SENT TO THEM*
"Are you sure that this is the place?" Andrew looks around as they walk forward. "It looks kind of run down."
"I can feel Isabella's presence."
Everyone in the building can the creaking noises coming from the ceilings and where they step on.
Andrew's face twists in distaste. "I feel like this building is going to fall apart if we go any further. I know that you said you know this goddess but maybe there are really traps here."
"Yeah, you're right. We should move faster if that's the case." Nathan answers and Andrew throws him an annoyed look.
"I was expecting you to say the opposite of that, but I guess you're right."
In front of them, Jasmine rolls her eyes.
"Wait!" Nathan stops and tilts his head. "I can sense Isabella but it's a little bit off."
"What about 'her' presence." Andrew asks and Nathan shakes his head.
"She kept to her word, I can't sense her anywhere but we'll still need to be extra careful."
"Nathan, I found her!"
The two men immediately rush to where Jasmine is, and there they see...
"Isabella..." Nathan's knees almost gives up when he sees her but she appears safe and that's all that matters to him right now.
Her wrist and ankles are strapped to a bed. As Nathan touches her skin, he frowns on instinct.
Something is wrong with her, he can sense it. As soon as he reaches that assumption, a buzzing sound fills the air and something like a screen appears in front of them, on it is 'her' face.
Nathan's eyes narrows in slots. "Destiny."
"Hey Nathaniel, I know you have a lot of questions but hold your tongue because this is simply a recording.
As you might already deduce, sleeping ugly over there won't wake up ever again, shell face some torments in her dreams and that means a lot of pain.
If she manages to survive for maybe a decade then I'll remove the spell, of course another way to remove it is by killing me but I doubt that you can do that. We'll, until next time."
The screen disappears, leaving Nathan in a fist of rage.
AND THAT'S WHAT LED TO THIS TURN OF EVENTS. *END OF FLASHBACK*
"I should have killed her a long time ago." Nathan hissed.
"You've been saying that over and over again. It's getting more annoying to hear at the passing minute." Andrew complains, even though he acts calm it is obvious that he is worried about Isabella too.
Nathan decides not to tell Isabella's family about this situation yet.
Frankly, he is a little bit scared of the problem that will arise because of that. The last thing he wants is to put Isabella's family in danger so other then Jasmine, Andrew and himself, nobody else knows about it.
Andrew tries his best to come once in a while, after all he has his siblings to take care of. Nathan, on the other hand, wonders if he is out for revenge since it's now crystal clear that Destiny was the one who killed his parents and placed a curse on his sister.
Nathan knows that it's only a matter of time before he'll have to kill Destiny. He's almost dreading the moment and that moment is comes sooner than he thinks.
Nathan and Andrew rushes into the room Isabella is staying.
"What happened? Is everything alright?!"
Jasmine stands up from where she's sitting and slowly points to the sleeping Isabella.
Soon gasps fill the air and Nathan grits his teeth.
Blood is continuously flowing out of Isabella's eyes, ears, nose and her mouth.
"I've tried to clean it but it just keeps coming. At this rate, shell lose a lot of blood and..."
And she'll die.
The words are heavy to say aloud but everybody knows.
Nathan fists clenches and he turns around in an attempt to walk out of the house.
"Hey, hey. Where are you going. You can't just go after Destiny like that without a plan. What if she kills you." Andrew rushes to stop him.
"She can't. I'm stronger than her."
"That doesn't mean anything when she can pull out some nasty tricks." Jasmine explains as she slowly walks to them. "Let's think of a plan first and then we'll leave tomorrow. I'll keep Isabella in check until then."
Hissing, Nathan stomps to his room like an angry child. He knows that tomorrow might be too late but nevertheless, the next day comes at last and as Andrew and Jasmine sit to discuss their plan, they wonder why Nathan hasn't come out yet.
"So is Isabella doing okay?"
"I managed to keep her stable for a while but I don't know how long that will continue so we better get this over with." Jasmine says.
"Is there a chance that Nathan might have left already." Andrew jokes but there's a bit of concern in his words.
"I doubt that, I took precautions." Jasmine waves it off but after a few seconds pass, they both share a glance and rush to Nathan's room.
It turn out to be empty.
"Dammit!" Andrew curses.
"God's are just too unpredictable sometimes."
Meanwhile, in a small cabin somewhere far away, Nathan opens the door and walks in with steady footsteps.
Despite of how the outside looks rundown, the inside is just as he remembered.
This cabin is the place he and Destiny spent most of their couple life.
"I'm surprised you remembered this place since it's been decades."
"I believe that my memory is fully intact." He says to her.
Destiny is laying casually on the couch with a small smile on her red lips and her black hair spread around her head.
"I believe so. Tell me why you came." She stands up and narrows her eyes. "Is it to kill me?"
Taking in a deep breath, Nathan begins. "Destiny, I promise that I will return to your side without a bit of affection left for Isabella if only you remove the spell on her and the curse you placed on Shelia."
"That's a tall promise. Are you sure you'll be able to go through with it."
"You know me. I always keep my promises."
"So you'll break the bond between yourself and sleeping ugly?" She watches to see if he'll makes any expression but his face remains blank. "You are serious, aren't you."
Her expression changes and she immediately leaps into his arms. "Oh Nathaniel, I'll do anything for you as long as you remain by my side."
"Always." He whispers before grabbing her face and giving her a long affectionate kiss. When they pull back, she smiles and looks at him.
"I knew you still loved me. We need to talk to the moon goddess about her sacred bonds, they brainwash peo-"
A gasp leaves her lips as she staggers away from him. "Nathaniel?"
Looking down at her chest, she sees a blade sticking out but it not just any blade, it's a starlight blade.
A starlight blade is said to be the only thing strong enough to kill a god, though that is a myth. It can only harm a god but it's nothing that they can't heal, that doesn't mean they can heal it completely.
"But why... You always keep your promises." She looks down at the blade digging deeper into her chest and back at Nathan.
"I've changed. You should know that by now."
"I see." A dark look spreads on her face. "So this was just a trick. How foolish I was to think otherwise but you are more foolish to believe that this will end my life.
She tries to pull out the dagger but it won't budge, instead it digs deeper.
"No, you remain the foolish one here, Destiny." With a click on his fingers, her heart appears into his hand.
With wide eyes, she immediately leaps for it but he has already crushed it in his hand.
"Why?" She slumps to the ground with blood spilling out of her lips.
"Because you decided to mess with someone very dear to me."
"B-but... I just wanted you to... love m-" Her eyes loses its colour as her voice stops.
Soon, her body begins to crumble to nothing but dust, leaving only the dagger behind.
She's finally dead.
As he bend to pick it up, the door opens and someone rushes inside.
"Nathan, are you okay?" It's Andrew.
When he looks around, Andrew becomes more confused.
"I'm sure the curse on your sister has been lifted by now, you should get going." Nathan says.
"Wait, don't tell me that you killed her. W-what about the other gods, what will they think."
"I'll take care of that." Standing to his feet, Nathan summons a portal. "Now go."
Andrew hesitates before he leaps into the portal and it closes behind him.
With a sigh, Nathan summons one for himself and as he leaves flames erupt in the cabin.
He never did ask Andrew how he found him but guessing that will be Jasmine's doing, he shrugs the thought off.
"Nathan?"
Hearing her voice again, after been deprived of it for days set his heart on fire but in a good way.
"I-Isabella." He rushes to her bed side and places his forehead on hers. "It's okay, everything is okay now."
He doesn't know if he convincing himself or her.
"Yeah, Jasmine filled me in. I'm just glad that you're safe. You don't know how much I love you, Nathan."
He chuckles. It took this long for them to say this to each other. "And I love you too."
As Jasmine closes the door softly, a small smile places on her lips.
They are all okay.
Even in Andrew's home later and celebration can be heard.
The threat is gone...
