Chapter 72: Chapter 72
"We tried our best, but nothing makes sense to us" the doctor was baffled, in his 10 years of experience, he had never witnessed such a case before.
"Of course nothing makes sense. You don't know your job" Zamiel shook his head slowly.
Hearing these words from the doctor alone. She didn't know what else she was supposed to do, how was she going to save his life? If even the doctors couldn't dictate the issue.
"Since, you have informed us about him not being able to breathe. We are going to put him on oxygen and also run some respiratory tests.
Hopefully, that will help us get the diagnosis and know what we are dealing with" the doctor informed them, ignoring Zamiel's words as he walked away, moving forward to attend to other patients.
Heaven slowly walked into the room where Kayden laid half dead. To say, her heart was broken was an understatement, she felt choked.
Everything was spinning around her, and her world came to a pause. She had never seen Kayden act weak before, not to talk more if seeing him in such a pitiable condition.
Her heart was crying for him, but at that moment her tears could no longer flow.
She just sat by his bed, staring at him like someone who was lost in a trance.
"You know at some point, he is going to be fine. Stop doing this to yourself, you are hurting yourself" Zamiel walked up to her, he had been standing by the door long enough, monitoring her.
"When?''She asked him, not taking her eyes off her husband, not even for a second.
"Soon, he.…" Zamiel was talking and then his phone rang.
"I'm sorry, I will be back soon" he left her.
Zamiel had purposely brought Kayden to the same hospital Hannah was admitted to, he wanted to be monitoring her.
And with Kayden there as well, it would be easier to make up excuses for why he was at the hospital so often.
Zamiel's POV
"What? What is going on?" I walked into Hannah's room, more like I stormed into the ER…with them not minding my sudden entrance.
I observed, as they were carrying out some procedures on her, the doctors were in a hurry.
I couldn't find that female doctor that kept harassing me all the time. Why wasn't she amongst them? She was rude, but she also seemed to know what she was doing.
"We are losing her" one of the doctors shouted, and I swear I felt my heart jumping out of my mouth.
Losing her? To what? To whom? To where?.
"Her heart rate is slowing down" the doctor kept on announcing, as he was placing something on her chest and taking it out. Seems like he was trying to make her heart beat, but it was refusing to beat again.
The doctors looked at the monitor screen, and then at their watch again before they shook their heads and looked at me.
Elora's POV
"I don't want to eat!!! Take this nonsense away from here!!!" I shouted at one of the maids, throwing the plate of food on the floor.
Why wasn't Kayden picking up any of calls? It wasn't like him, could it be that he got upset after our last argument?
Because I had asked him to return to the castle. My thoughts soon went back to last night.
"If you don't do it, then you might have to come back to see my dead body in this lonely house. I don't like your wife '' I spoke to Kayden over the phone, my voice was very stern and also very desperate.
"Why? What exactly did she do to you? You can't just sit in a corner and decide that you don't like someone.
Elora, that is not how the world works" he cautioned me, but I didn't care. I didn't want to listen to his lectures on how the world works, or how it doesn't work.
All I wanted was for him to return back to the castle with his wife. The enjoyment had lasted far too long for them both.
"Kayden, I didn't call you to listen to a lecture on how the world works. I called you because I was determined to tell you how I feel, but you don't seem to care about me anymore.
Go take care of your wife, she is your true princess and not me" I scolded him over the phone. I knew my words were going to make him feel bad, but I didn't care.
He made me feel sad each day that passed by, because of his false promises to me…
Elora's POV
"How can you even say that to me? You know that I love you very much, I ….." he was talking to me, but I was quick to end the call.
I didn't want to hear his side of the story anymore. He tried to call me several times that fateful night, but I didn't pick up any of his calls. I kept ignoring him, and now I regret it.
If this is his revenge then he should stop this.
"Miss, you need to eat something or else the prince is going to shout at us'' my nanny suddenly spoke to me, bringing me back to the present, but I chose to ignore her words.
I didn't say anything to her, as I climbed my bed, and rested my head on the back of my palms while I remained silent.
Zamiel's POV
"She is in an induced coma now, that's the best we can do for her. If her signs don't improve in the next three days we will have to pronounce her dead" the doctor came to inform me.
Why was this happening to me? Whenever I begin to attach myself to someone, when I begin to care about that person.
The universe suddenly takes it upon itself to take that person away from me, and make me feel like I have no one in this world. I know I have done many awful things in the past, but she doesn't have to suffer for my mistakes.
