Chapter 68: Chapter 68

Karen's POV

We walked into the small room, the place was dirty and rough. I managed to find somewhere to sit and Thomas leaned on the wall. "I'm sorry for everything." He apologized with a sorrowful voice.

"It's actually not your fault, I'm sure everything would be alright."

"This is actually frustrating. I really love my husband and I don't think I can leave him. And Brody's father just wants to get rid of me quickly." I replied in frustration.

I was getting tired of everything. I just wanted to be with my husband, I wanted to be in his arms but I was just not lucky. Why was this happening to me?

"I'm not going to do anything that would make your relationship with Brody end." He suddenly said, jerking me back from my thoughts.

I looked at him with a frustrated sigh. There was no possible thing he could do than to keep me in this room. "Brody's father is against my relationship with his son, I don't know what to do and I'm sure my husband would be seriously worried right now." I said.

He ignored me and arranged some books near me. "You should sleep, it's getting late already and I don't want you to fall sick."

I scoffed. "Don't you get it? I'm not comfortable here because I don't trust people."

He blinked his eyes at me, surprised at my reply. "You don't trust me?" He asked, still surprised and confused.

I narrowed my eyes at him. "It's not like that, I trust you but I don't know who to trust anymore. Brody's father wants you to take me to a country in Africa and I'm sure you might want to do that." I answered truthfully with a genuine smile on my face.

He sat down on the floor and looked at me. "Hey, I won't do anything to hurt you, I'm just keeping you safe for the main time before Brody pays for the flight to London."

"London?" I asked, shocked.

"Yeah, he's bought a new house already in Oxford street."

I was definitely confused for sure. How did he know all these? Brody would never tell him without telling me so I didn't know how he knew so much about my husband. "How do you know? I don't think it's true."

He made his voice a little bit louder. "Look, I work for Mr Taylor, Brody's father and he....."

I interrupted. What was he saying? He has never worked for Brody's father, he was always at home. Was he a psycho? "Brody's father owns an organization and I have never seen you there."

He lowered his voice and heaved a sigh before replying me. "He doesn't only own an organization, he has a secret which no one in that house except me knows."

A secret? What could that be? "What secret?" I asked him, curiously.

He paused and looked at me for a few seconds, he was wondering if he could tell me. "Brody's father is a Mafia leader." He told me and I felt shivers down my spine.

No, it was not possible but why did it sound so true? "What are you saying? Brody's father can never be a Mafia leader."

He scratched his cheeks and stopped staring at me for a second. His gaze finally returned to me and he smiled. "That's it, no one would ever believe that he's a Mafia leader, the only person who knows in that house is his wife."

I quirked an eyebrow in surprise, I was still trying to believe what he had just told me. Brody's mom was aware and she couldn't say a word. "Why are you working for him?"

He seemed shocked by my question. "I don't understand."

"Why are you still working for Brody's father if he's a Mafia leader?"

"I've stopped working for him. After he asked me to find out about the house that Brody bought, I lied to him and resigned."

"So you're not in love with his daughter?" I inquired.

He shook his head. "Not that, I love Helen so much that I can't do without her."

"I really don't know what to believe," I murmured with tears in my eyes. "I just want to live happily ever after with Brody."

"He asked me to book a flight for you."

"I'm not going to another country without Brody."

He chuckled softly. "Look, I can't stay here. I have to go back and stay at the mansion."

I narrowed my eyes at him in surprise. "You're not just going to leave me here, are you?" I ventured, cautiously.

"Unfortunately, I have to leave." He answered and stood up.

"What about Brody?" I asked him.

He smiled at me. "I'll bring him here tomorrow to see you."

A smile plastered on my face as he spoke those words. He was such a kind and wonderful man. "Thanks." I replied before he walked out of the door, quietly slamming it after him.

I stood up to lock the door from inside and sat down on the floor. My mind drifted to what he told me about Brody's father. There was a possibility of him going to jail someone reports his activities to the cops with evidence.

The room was getting dark and I managed to locate a small torch around the corner. Placing the torch on a small table, I heard someone knock on the door and I shrieked with fear.

"Who's that?" I asked, still scared.

My fear subsided when I realized it was Thomas, I got up to open the door and he walked in. I closed the door immediately and sat on the floor.

"I thought you would be hungry so I decided to grab something from a nearby restaurant." He said.

I smiled at him. "Thanks, I was definitely hungry, I didn't know what to eat."

"Good night, I should get going." He murmured and stood up.

I stood up immediately and pulled him in for a hug. He hugged me and left immediately. I was really grateful for his help and assistance. Diego had such a nice father. I locked the door and sat down.
