Chapter 67: Chapter 67

Karen's POV

He held me gently and looked into my eyes. "We need to leave now," he whispered. My heart raced rapidly as I stared back at him.

"What about Brody?"

He shrugged and sat on the sofa. "Brody does not need to know about us leaving, he won't find anyone except his parents at home when he returns." He answered with a smirk on his face.

My gaze returned to the TV and I avoided him. "I'm not sure if I'm ready to leave my husband." I told him.

He scratched his cheeks and tried to convince me. "We can discuss things later but let's leave this house first."

I was getting scared already, his voice sounded deep and scary. "But why?" I asked.

"We'll discuss things later." He reminded me of his words and I nodded.

"Okay, I'll climb upstairs and take my clothes, I'll...."

He interrupted angrily. "You don't have to take your clothes, I'll buy you new ones, I just want to take you to a safe house." He offered.

I quickly followed him outside and entered into Brody's car. "Brody didn't take his car?" I asked him, my expression troubled.

He smiled. "He didn't, I didn't remind him to take the car but it's fine." He answered as he started the car's engine and drove off.

Brody's POV

The house seemed extremely quiet when I walked in. I became extremely furious when I found out that my car was not in the mansion. Everywhere suddenly seemed strange.

"Good afternoon, dad." I greeted my dad with a fake smile that appeared genuine. I wasn't trying to do anything that would make the family unhappy.

He ignored me and continued watching a movie on the TV. Diego ran out of his room immediately he saw me. "I've missed you so much." He murmured.

A smile plastered on my face. "I've missed you too. Where's your dad?" I asked him.

He frowned and scratched his cheeks. He suddenly looked at dad before looking at me and I wondered why he did that. "He went to the mall to get beverages." He answered.

Was the kid lying? Something was definitely wrong and I wanted to unravel the mystery. "You've been bored, should I come to your room?"

He shook his head with a smile on his face. "You don't have to worry yourself, I'll take care of myself besides dad bought a video game for me and it's easy to play." He announced, giggling excitedly.

Thomas bought a video game for him? How is that even possible? Thomas hated video games and laptops so why would he buy it for his child?

"What did you buy for me?" He inquired with one of the biggest grins I've ever seen.

"I bought ice cream but I won't let you take it now." I answered.

His face became dull automatically and he ran back into his bedroom. "Why did you lie to him? I'm sure you didn't even buy him anything."

"I could still get something from the mall and give it to him, I bought an ice cream for him but I couldn't wait till I got him, I licked the ice cream in the car so it's entirely not my fault."

"Why did you lie to the poor child?" He asked angrily and I stared at him in shock. Something was definitely bothering him which made him angry, it was not the ice cream.

"Is that the reason for your anger?" I inquired and softened my voice, I didn't want to make him angry.

He gave me wide eyes and finally stood up. His eyes staring deeply into mine as I could feel the wave of anger engulfing him. "Are you insane?" He asked and it dawned on me that it was because I had resigned from his organization.

"I'm not insane, I'm just pursuing my dreams and you should support me."

"I can never tolerate this attitude and you can not be a musician. There's no money in music." He said. I knew he was ready for argue till eternity about the disadvantages of becoming a musician.

"I'm not doing this for the money, I'm moving out of this house in few hours with my beautiful wife. I will definitely start music somewhere and you won't do anything about that." I explained trying to make my voice sound calm and cool.

He cleared his throat and chuckled. "I'm just surprised at your foolishness." He muttered.

I frowned at his insult. "I'm not being foolish, I'm really in love with her." I told him.

"That doesn't seem like love, does it?"

As I wanted to climb the stairs, I remembered that someone took my car so I decided to ask him. "Dad, did anyone take my car for a ride?" I asked him.

He replied rudely without looking at my face. "You should probably check your room before asking that question."

My heart skipped a beat and I climbed the stairs hurriedly and pushed the door open. No one was in the room and my heart skipped a beat. I slightly pushed open the door of the bathroom but no one was there.

I didn't know what to expect but it seemed like I was going crazy. Karen and Thomas were not in the house. Where could they be? I silently hoped that my dad was not planning something terrible. Her phone was right on top of the bed and my heart skipped a beat. A lot of things were going through my mind and I didn't want to overthink.

Coming out of the room, I ran down the stairs and found Dad engrossed in the movie.

When he finally turned to face me, there was a clever and charming smile on his face. "Your gold digger wife ran away." He murmured.

I shook my head, Karen would never do that to me, she told me she loved me, she would never betray me. "Karen would never do that to me." I told him with an annoyed look, I didn't want to believe a single word he said.

He looked at him with a smirk on his face. "Why is she not here? She's just a golddigger and you should forget about her. She must probably be on her way to sell that car and make money." He replied.
